I don't know how it's done, heck don't even know how it's done on new characters (nobody should say anything on here, the fewer people that know about it until fixed the better) but yes appearently it is possible on older characters. OP was doing it, I saw a few characters that had the 6/6/6/6/6 but the one I recall for certain was the Drell Vanguard, so certainly possible.
