Just a minor thing really but I hope the team can spend a short discussion on how to make this less intrusive.
I thought it was in poor taste to have the window after the credits of ME3.

I'd rather politely contemplate my experience after a bioware game instead of getting a straight up reminding taking me out of it, nope this wasn't everything.

Now I understand you have to make it clear to players that dlc will probably come but I wonder isn't it enough to have that in the main menu? Is the whole message note at the end really necessary?

I don't know if it's fair for me to feel this way and maybe I'm a bit overreacting but still.

On a similiar note: the dude in your camp in DAO who told you to buy Wardens Keep dlc was.... a horrible idea.

I have to agree. I loved ME3, the ending was the most emotional Bioware has ever made me...but that "Buy DLC!" thing was just...funny.

The most annoying DLC thing I experienced was the Legacy statue. "Do you want to play Legacy?" It was totally immersion breaking. And then the characters started talking about Carta attacks that never happened. To be fair, I just got the DLC, and they might have it set up so that if you don't go right away you experience the attacks, but who's going to buy a DLC and then dork around for an hour before trying it out?

I was pretty annoyed at the ME3 ending, so the DLC message afterwards seemed rather cheeky.

I think it's a given that fans of the franchise will buy DLC if they can afford it, no need to shove it down our throats.

I agree with you Teredan.
I wouldn't be surprised if such advertising gets implemented though. EA/BioWare received lots of negative feedback when they initially proposed the dlc people/markers in the DAO party camp, for example, but they went ahead and incorporated them anyway.

I am probably one of the few who wasn't bothered by the DLC message at the end of ME3. We all knew DLC was coming, and the at least the message had the decency to wait until the game was over instead of having in-game reminders.

The problem with the message was telling us that Shepard was now a legend after defeating the reapers. Why tell me instead of showing me? And it really wasnt needed anyway. We knew dlc was coming. All they had to say was return to main menu or continue playing before assault on the cerberus base.

Even in the vanilla endings, it is very clear that the Reaper threat is over. They may have been overly vague on what happened to the universe and your companions afterward, but not the central threat to the series.

But let's not turn this into yet another ending argument, particularly in the DA3 forum lol.

I just don't understand why we have to have a friggin whole message box written in style to pseudo fit the game tone.

Why isn't it enough to have a dlc option at the start menu, you can make the writing blink if you want when new dlc is available.

A message that doesn't take us out of the game world would be nice. Something like "<insert character's name or title>'s adventures will continue..." would be less tacky.

We live in the age of DLC. We know it's coming. We don't need to be reminded...

I am glad to see criticism towards ME3 from players who have ME3 registered.
From players who doesn't have it, I can't take it seriously.

In-game advertising for DLC  is part of Bioware's artistic integrity. :wizard:

That is not the case, sorry. The way those DLC are designed is that when you click on the statue it sort of jumps to another point in Varric's narration, which is why we see Cassandra asking him about whichever thing. So the opening dialogue with Hawke in both of the DLC is just there to set the scene.

I never found a problem with it really. However, I did think that the existence of the statues felt a bit gamey and wish they had used some other method. Perhaps a new quest in the log, "Varric has something to talk to you about, go to the Hanged Man to see him," type of thing like was used for other quests. Of course, that method removes the option of playing the DLC post-game, since you only have access to your estate.

Well gee, sorry for making the decision to borrow this game from a friend after hearing all those ending complaints and I'm very glad I did, ME3 sums up for me in epic mordin resolution and epic garrus bro moments everything else floats in the apathy created by its ending.

But sure I'm glad to have intact human judgement that is not dependant on an arbitrary forum label, so I won't take "you" seriously from now on.

Also can we get away now from me it was just an example, I used it because it was the most recent one.
The camp dlc guy in origins was also super aweful. In that vein for anyone lacking the reading comprehension skill like the above this is not criticism against ME it's criticism regarding a general issue of intrusive dlc notes.

Why are there no complaints about the same window after Mass Effect 2 as well? That is one thing that always bothered me about that complaint is that people were reacting as if it never happened before Mass Effect 3.

Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II also featured the "buy our DLC" pitch, post-game. It's nothing new, but it is kind of annoying...

I can deal with the ads that pop up after. That makes sense to me. But ...

Don't think they had it untill you loaded up your post-game save, did they?

edit:  To be fair, they do appear to have got the message that the in-game ads were unacceptable.  Or possibly they just didn't generate much money.

And that cutscene that prompted you to buy Return to Ostagar
