I say to this yes to importing previous save files. It just for me for both games, I have encountered the final boss only for me to get frustrated at dying consistenly. I do like the storylines of both, sad to say as some will think the Origins is better than DA2. I came into Dragon Age via DA2 and I do hope that they do a interactive comic as I am just given up on completing either game.
I have always beaten down the end boss of DA Origins to half life and die soon after and yet I do own the ultimate version of Origins and do want to know what happens in Awakening, I fear that I have gotten to the end of my rope on both game end bosses.
On to another idea, probably as I live in the UK and did not get any major launch parties for Mass Effect 3. I feel that for Dragon Age 3 that Bioware should have launch parties across the globe for when DA3 does come out as it will probably give a bigger awareness for one of the best fantasy RPGs out there?

are you on PC?
Nevermind, I guess not. You know, you CAN play DA:O on Easy. It's...well, easy.

Have you tried dropping down to Casual difficulty? Both bosses are incredibly easier on that difficulty.
Although I agree that an interactive comic/another way handle previous choice is a better idea. And, based on some comments I've seen around the boards, I have a gut feeling this is how they will handle it going forward.
That being said, you should try and stick it out and beat the Archdemon in Origins. About 65% of the game's appeal to me is it's endings alone. I wouldn't hang your hat too much on choices from DA:O importing into Awakenings, though. Not a whole lot of content there.
Are you shooting the Archdemon with the giant crossbow when he flies too far away to hit? That's a required part of beating him.

Are you sure Jimmy? I don't recall doing that my first time. I do it now, of course--there's no reason not to--but is it really required?

Hitting the AD with the ballista is not required. It will jam and it takes a rogue to unjam it. It makes the task easier. Calling in the elven archers and equipping your party with crossbows and bows so you can turn AD into a giant pin cushion is fun. Making use of the army selector is helpful. Killing off the two generals in market and Alienage is especially useful.

Ah. I have never used any long range attacks aside for the ballistas. I did not even know they weren't an option.

If you're struggling with the archdemon simply put it on casual, go to the ballista and spam away till it dies. Oh and at least have around 50 health poultice. (Just to be safe)
