Before people start shouting, no this isn't another "Bioware never listens" topic (they do listen AND act on requests.) Mostly this topic deals with Chris and his usual reponses to the accusations: "Yes, we are listening."

What really gets me going every time I see responses such as this in any forums is not that it's a lie (Nyreen proves Bioware listens and acts on fan requests); but that Bioware, at least the SP team, rarely if never comment on popular topics and just let the expectations run wild. Like everyone, for whatever reason, expected Nyreen to some how become a new squad member and I have yet to find Bioware saying anywhere this just wasn't going to happen. So what I'm basically saying is while Bioware does listen, their silence on matters are what really tick me off.

I'm not asking for full fledged explainations, just responses such as "We don't plan on adding more squadmates" or "I'm sorry, but the coding in the game just doesn't give us the chance to do that."

I'm pretty sure most the rage would be avoided if Bioware was a little more engaged towards suggestions.

Bioware just doesn't want to spoil their stories before they come out. Letting some things out to garner attention is one thing, you're pissing and moaning because they aren't a complete info dump so you can decide whether or not Omega is worth $15.

I suggest you get over it, pal. Or just wait until AFTER it comes out and let other players spoil you.

*Reads over OP post over and over again*

I'm sorry, but where did I mention Omega in my post? I see it being used as an example for a larger issue but it doesn't look like the main problem.

What are you reading exactly? If you even read it at all...Image IPB

On page 1 of this thread, Ninja Stan said...

"The devs are damned if they do and damned if they don't."

He spoke in truth and wisdom. Even if ME3 brass was on the forums every day, folks would still grumble. So they choose to read but not post. Responding to the forums by way of dlc instead of words.

This is for listening ears. Theres room on the normandy for everyone, and it'd be a good way to make use of all those multiplayer powers in singleplayer that shepard cant use. :< (with ME3 Genesis on the horizon, an arguement could be made for making the ME2 guys squadmates because new players could use genesis to add them to their game)

Can you really blame them for not wanting to comment on anything?

You saw the reaction from the ending.

Fans want to be all buddy, buddy, and want Bioware to be more transparent, but then they start mailing them death threats and threaten Bioware with lawsuits over ME3's ending.

But I think the difference is that the me3 team doesn't have the moral highground they been dishonest before they will probably be dishonest again

Also false advertising is just cause for lawsuits, as for death threats I think they have been exaggerated by the PR machine

Yep, pretty much this. Right now I don´t belive a word they say. An example is Omega. On one interview one guy says that it´s 5 hours long. The same guy to a diferent site says 4 hours.

So I guess the best guess is 2 hours?

David Silverman was the brand manager here at BioWare for 2 years. He has now moved on to be part of the Battlefield team.

And thank god.

I mean no offence to Mr Silverman but god he had no idea what he was doing in relation to the PR and marketing in relation to ME and DA. Seriously.

This is the man that brought us "BUTTON=AWESOME! YEAH!"

*facepalm*

Poor Mike Laidlaw is never going to live that one down.

That kind of marketing is just not going to work with the type of folk who are attracted to the kind of games Bioware likes to make. It really isn't.

It's good for the fanbase that he is gone. It is good for Bioware that he is gone. And it is good for him that he is gone.
I think that he could do a really excellent job for Battlefield, as if his marketing ideas for ME and DA are anything to go by then BF seems like more his kind of thing. And his style of PR is definately more suited to that genre of gaming.

Ahhh, he's that Pulse guy? Oh god, that is good news!!

No offense meant to Mr. Silverman and I'm sure he will do a good job for other games but I agree, I'm very happy that ME gets a different PR guy.

Omega plays over 4-5 hours depending on how you play. Just as a magazine can be "read" in 10 minutes, it will take ten times as long if you actually read every article through, Mass Effect is x long if you decide to play it like an action game but go through all the conversations and search through everything it's much much longer.

I don't think Omega can be completed faster than 4 hours. I'm sure you can power through it faster if you're a hardcore gamer but what would be the point of that? :)
