As a last personal addition to this otherwise wonderful thread let me just say I never get what is described in the quote above.

There is only one friend who always says he hates whatever faction we are put up against, and that's only to mock me for the reaper hate I used to have when we started playing together about 6 months ago. I have gotten over it, thanks for asking.

I must seriously be playing a different game to everyone else. This never happens in random PUGs (OK, on PC, no one talks, but extraction against geth isn't any more frustrating).

I UUG'd Hydra/Geth/Gold last night, luckily as kroguard, and came third! With a 106k points! That's not atypical of a UUG Geth game for me.

Scion bullets don't having homing rounds.... they can be avoided by simply strafing if you have a little bit of distance between you and them. The only character I can strafe away from Prime shots with is a Drell w/ Adrenaline Module...

Running in the open works just fine against Cerberus and Collectors, and is thouroughly recommended against Reapers.

Besides, what kind of shooter would actually deny you the opportunity to flank ? That's the most basic concept ever. They're coming towards your teammates, you take a detour to try to flank them, they immediately fire 3-4 rockets at you and then turn around, you're dead and you didn't even get to shoot a single shot. WTF is this ? Just freaking retarded.

Yesterday I played a Drell Adept with Adrenaline Module III and primes could still hit me just fine. Only basic troopers missed.

Short answer is that you aren't denied, outside of when a rocket trooper gets to fire more rockets than his quota.

The other problem is that Geth rarely require flanking as they just slowly walk through choke points as to let you combo and AOE them to death anyway.  Which is an issue, to be sure.

People that claim drones die to air need to remember that a lot of people like to play with single shot powerful weapons and using a claymore shot to kill a drone is usually a waste.

Geth gold are manageable, but certainly NOT fun.

I suggest bioware to make the nightmare difficulty

Ha! ha! I play a lot of PUG's though, so I play a lot of Geth.

What's strange though, is when I solo against Geth, they aren't half as annoying. In squad matches they get ridiculous. Same goes for Dragoons on Cerberus.

I have a great idea, why dont we reduce platinum's difficulty to bronze's difficulty? maybe even make it so Geth hug you instead of pyroing the hell out of you, or maybe even make them give you their shield bonuses! I laugh so hard at everyone who's requesting more nerfs, the game is SUPPOSED to be challenging, and if its not irritating, its not challenging

The drone was supposed to have that attack at release, but it was bugged. So they fixed it in the patch. They didn't say "oh let's make the Geth more annoying!"

The next problem was that for half of the game's time since release people were farming geth and skewing the data so that it appeared that the Geth were the easiest faction... most objectives completed. And since they balance in a large part on the game data, they ramped up the Geth.

Criticizing the design of the geth faction as a whole might make some sense. No need for the "I can't believe Bioware is trollin' us, bro!" One problem is that they tried to make combat versus each faction different rather than having really only one faction, but with different named units depending on which you select. Which is why there was no melee or sync kill unit in the Geth arsenal. More slow push, ranged artillery with the Hunters and Pyros to flush units from cover.

Personally, I could do with a bit less stun, especially if it limited some of the more "cheap" feeling stuns... which mostly comes from Rocket Troopers that ripple fire several rockets in short succession, or the classic Hunter falling backwards, but still getting of a solid GPS shot, stun. Drones needed to do something so I am happy they fixed their attack from that perspective. Primes should not be able to cast turrets that aren't in their line of sight, and probably should have a bit longer cooldown on the drone casting though.


The problem is, often when BioWare decides to make a change to address some perceived problem with the game, they simply go too far with it.  They obviously wanted to make the game less farmable, so in response they:

1) Altered the map layout of Firebase White and Firebase Glacier

2) Made it impossible to grab Geth Pyros

3) Introduced the Prime Drone stagger rocket (they fixed a feature that was intended BUT they could have removed the stun knowing the other changes they were making)

4) Added Geth Bomber with short-range stun attack AND stagger bombs.

And this was in addition to the ridiculous amount of stun already present with the Geth.  BioWare had a problem with farming, and they threw everything they coudl think of to "fix" it, and they seemed to have completely missed the deterimental effect it has to gameplay when playing the Geth.

I understand BioWare wanted to address farming, but in reality, 1 or 2 of the numbered items were probably enough.  3 is pushing it, but implementing all 4 went way overboard.



this is the problem. bioware changed the game so people had to play the game how bioware wanted them to play it. if people want to play and camp/farm, that is their prerogative, and shouldn't be dictated to. everyone payed for the game, so they get to choose how to play it. the bullsh*t they put in to make it "un farmable" is nonsense because it impacts people who want to play the game "properly".

Only agree about these points. Geths need stunlock mechanics or we would steamroll them, they are a slow and fairly non chaotic faction. Yes, it's annoying to be stunclocked, but look at the broad picture, challenge is important.

So true.

Anyone remember how punishing NES games were? There were games where you had to literally memorize the entire level before you could pass it (Battletoads comes to mind). That type of difficulty has gone the way of the Dodo... as it should have.

Every faction got a different personality and systems to be a challenge, as I've said geths are the slowest and less "anarchic" of the game factions, less prone to swarming. Stunlocks are their only system to become a threat. If they change their dynamic they are not geths animore.

Diversity is great.
