The (Geth Prime's) combat drone is a joke.

Seriously, there are already been like a bazillion threads about this. Bioware already said they were looking at changing the geth, complaining more isn't going to change anything.

In the meantime there is nothing else to do than adapting or just stop playing geth if they are too frustrating.

The more people complain the more likely it is they might do something.

If a bazillion threads won't make them take notice, maybe a bazillion and one will.

I partiularily like how the drone stagger animation always seem to drag me a few steps towards the drone, typically out of soft cover and into the waiting arms of two pyros, a prime, two rocket troopers and a hunter....

So after months of people complaining about Geth stunlock, how it was cheap, frustrating and made the Geth very annoying to play... the mensa candidates on the design team thought that it would be a good idea to... add MORE stunlock?

Didn't know the drone can actually stunlock, as for me it just staggers.

But anyway, as far as I know it wasn't a new addition, just a bug fix. The drone was supposed to stagger from the start but didn't (is there actually anything in the game that did work from the start...?).

Did we really need this fix? Certainly not. Does it make the Geth worse than they are? Neither.
I can live with it but I understand if people find it annoying and want it gone. Even though insulting the devs isn't really the way to go...

Does it make the Geth worse?

The only possible answer is yes.

Tbh, I would ardently support Geth change to stop the plethora of whining threads, but seeing there will always be something people cry about, I rather just support the tolerable status quo.

So because Bioware can't fix EVERYTHING, they shouldn't try to fix ANYTHING?

I guess we shouldn't have complained about the vanguard glitch then. Since people would still complain about vanguards being buggy as hell off-host even after it was fixed, right?

Everything the Geth Prime does is a joke:
1) You lost shields and do not know why... Quickly look for geth turret, if you do not spot+destroy it before the 2nd burst, you go down...
2) Geth plasma projectile bends midair and follows you around a corner
3) If he can see just a tiny bit of the player's model he will hit you
4) enough was said about the combat drone already...

That was not what I said.

The key word was tolerable which is a personal category. And they have fixed all sorts of crap. Sure, it took them 6-7 months, but most of us did stick around, so the strategy was proven right. Sort of.

Geth aint buggy. They are simply overloaded with stuns. There is a big difference between complaining about a game breaking bug and complaining to reduce the difficulty of the game. Now I also would like to see some of the stunnage removed, but that does not make your comparison a valid one.

Well Sirian, you clearly don't play above bronze if you think the stunlock is a problem.

But in all seriousness, your OP was identical to my reaction upon hearing the drone now had a stun attack.... a TRACKING stun attack, so you get staggered as you attempt to retreat too.

Damnit, I love bioware, but they really do test my patience some time. Why can't they just implement something that dealt damage, without knocking every non-krogan flying every time you're unlucky enough to be struck by it.

Their current reasoning is everything either needs to have a) a sync kill or B) stunlock for it to be diifficult....

When the answer is really simple: besides from animations for sync kills, both stuns and sync kills are really lazy and easy ways of adding cheap difficulty to the game whilst expending minimal resources, which makes things artificially harder in the most counter-intuitive way possible.

I wish we could see banshees with annihilation field (instead of a grab),  primes able to buff nearby geth units (instead of stun lock) and phantoms who can't stab you; their regular attacks are deadly enough already.

Vanguard glitch complaints vs. geth: Working as intended (as I have been told regarding the store) cannot be considered as something that needs fixing.

Geth aren't buggy?  What game are you playing?

I'm not wanting difficulty reduced, I'm wanting cheap, BS stunlock removed. It's a perfectly valid comparison in the context of the analogy. The Vanguard Glitch made 1/6 of all characters virtually unplayable off-host. The Geth BS stunlock makes Geth 0 fun to play against.

The addition of the drone (and the Geth Bomber's stunshock, as if the grenades weren't enough) was completely unnecessary considering the Geth already have plenty of units that stun you. Aside from the fact that it's making me rage, it's also very uncreative on BW's part.

The geth nerf is long overdue. the fact that they got a buff on top of their ridiculousness in the form of their most powerful stun on their most powerful enemy is stupid to put it softly

Lets formulate some suggestions, shall we?

Introduction of the "bomber" is okay, I think. Remove stun and increase movement speed?
Drone: Decrease spawn frequency?

Bugginess is the rocket trooper shooting multiple rockets from behind a wall. Stun is not bugginess.

I actually don't mind the bombers at all. I think they're fine.

Changes I want to see:

Decrease Prime RoF/Accuracy and lower chance to stun from 100%
Remove stagger from combat drone attack
Remove Geth Rocket Trooper Stagger
Fix double/triple/quadruple rocket scumbag missile glitching rocket troopers
Fix hunters shooting you while staggered/stasised/frozen/on the floor etc.

That would make Geth reasonable to play against.

Good lord the arguing in this thread. Guys, "I don't have trouble with stunlock, therefore it doesn't exist and you are all terrible players" is a stupid argument, and insulting. BSN is one of the few places I come expecting to see a certain amount of civility, unlike most other forums (*cough*EVE-O*cough*), and then threads like this happen.

Geth stunlock is an issue if the majority of players have trouble with it. A top few players (or simply lucky players) not having trouble with it is not sufficient justification to make everyone else suffer.

(For the record, I do not play Gold often as I'm not MLG LEET SUPER PRO, but it's bad enough on Silver. A Geth game without Overload-spamming or a good Kroguard - which happens often, either by random enemy selection or random player selection - is practically a suicide mission for most PUGs I play with.)

I think Geth need more stunlock. In fact I think the Combat Drone should stunlock you for the rest of the match.

I did not read all 7 pages, but there should definitely be a Stunlock Yo Dawg meme somewhere in there... disappointed if there isn't.

Hard cover lets you go unstaggered. So why not use that instead? In Soft cover I might actualy get staggered... Plus I usualy play Paladin or Human Soldier, so I can recharge my shields almost at will.

I just find hard cover sticky and annoying. I prefer the mobility offered by soft cover.

I play a lot of different classes.

I like it too, mate. I use soft cover almost all the time. But against slow moving boss enemies that don't oneshot your shields (like those Scions, wtf with their canon), I'll use hard cover. +50% damage reduction is really good!

I agree with your suggestions, but I would remove the bomber's stun and increase their speed. And a tiny bit of armor too.

NO! NOOOOOOO! OH GOD! NO!

Increase already nearly tankiest foe's armor?! NO!

Remove 50% of the armor and keep the stunlock. If I can kill it, before it gets close... it's MUCH better and it rewards spotting. Otherwise you will be swimming in grenades.
