I know that most people think that mass effect 2 is the best, but I disagree. I think Mass effect 3 is by far the best game out of them all. The combat in 2 was miles better than the combot in ME1, however, I didn't like the lack of skill points in the second one, it felt over simplyfied, and I didn't really have much to look forward to when leveling up. The first Mass effect game had way too many point, and it felt like the over compinsated for that in the second one. The third one however had a good balance, not too many, but just enough. The third game was just so much more exciting, i mean you are in the middle of a Reaper Invasion, scrabling across the galaxing building an army. I know the War assats seemed kinda of pointless when you reach the end of the game, but I really loved reading about all of the factions i was able to collect while playing. I have to say as well, the game instead ran flawlessly on my PC at maxed settings, I didn't come across one bug, however, I did find afew bugs and glitches while playing ME2. I also liked how you can click on people and they would just talk to you rather than having the conversation thing pop up everytime.
I disagree with the part in bold. ME3 did some things better than 2, but this was not one of them. IMO there were too many skill points, as by level 60 you had every skill maxed except one and that one could be at level 4. This leads to there being very few build decisions you have to make. Add to that, by the time I had maxed out 2-3 active powers and my passives, everything else just felt like filler I was rarely going to use. In contrast, ME2 forced some decisions because you could not max every power + bonus power. Something had to give. I find that more enjoyable.
I do give ME3 the edge as far as story goes, but overall ME2 is my favorite. The combat is more involving with the protection mechanics and the classes are better balanced in regards to each other and against the enemies. And this is what it comes down to for me, while my first few games are all about the story its the combat and character building that keep me coming back.

This was the same in ME1 and ME2 once you hit level 60 and level 30, respectively.

ME1 pretty much. But in ME2 I felt it was harder to choose what to give up, as each class had 7 powers (including bonus) but only 51 points to spend. Plus the pre-reqs for some powers, which was more of a pain than in ME1, could force your hand in the build.
I think it added variety to the classes and was better for replayability than the "max everything" design of ME3.

I agree that I never considered ME2 the best. In fact, I was pretty disappointed when I had first finished it. The old crew was largely gone and replaced by people I didn't care for. I see it a little differently now. I remember that in my first playthrough, I didn't give a sh*t about Legion and never took him with me, but now after ME3 this has changed greatly because I know what's about to come. Hell, it even made me like Miranda. I still think ME2 is the least memorable of the series though. If I think about how many magic moments I had in part 1 and 3 and compare it to 2.. the only really awesome moments in 2 were reuniting with Kaidan, discovering the secret of the Collectors and entering the huge room with the cocoons.
As everybody else, I had my problems with ME3, especially with the ending - duh - but now I've come to the realization that the overall experience is so awesome that I can kind of forgive the game for its bad parts (autodialogue and lazy writing, reducing the reapers to stupid robots and of course the F*CKING CHILD).

I can't decide whether I prefer ME1 or ME3. ME1 is awesome, of course, but when replaying it after part 2 and 3 it feels a little cheesy sometimes and the gameplay is a bit lame. Also, a huge part of its fascination was due to the "mystery"-effect (not knowing what the protheans/reapers/conduit... are), which of course nearly vanishes in the second playthrough.

I have a hard time bringing myself to playthrough ME1 again as well.
Then when I bring myself to do it...there are so many parts that make it all worth it.
The beginning.
The look my Shepard gives when Eden Prime video feed is playing.
The Spectre induction ceremony.
Punching Saren in the face.
The ending...of course.
These are just some of the things that make the seemingly daunting task of replaying ME1 all worth it once you start.

ME1 was the best because you could drive a tank on the planet and attack enemy bases/pirate strongholds!
Cannot believe they omitted this from the sequels.
