It would also be nice if there was an option to deselect maps you weren't interested in playing, so the game wouldn't send you there for randoms.

I used to wait to equip until I saw the lobby and opponent, but I've started doing it in advance so that I can stand a fighting chance of clutching when I get dumped into a game in progress. I still sometimes wait on ammo powers though, as some are more suited to specific opponents. Either that or I'll equip a low level generic one when I search for a lobby, then switch it when I get in (assuming I don't get dumped in progress).
I frequently go through a fair amount of consumables per match, but not usually all 5 of any one thing unless things are going very badly. I buy enough JEPs to compensate that I'm never lower than around 50 or so gels and ops packs or 75 missiles. I'm typically within about 10 thermal clip packs of a full 255. One of the ways I judge a good squad is by how many consumables I need to use to get through a match. With a great squad, I can use very few or sometimes even none. That's the exception though.
Most of the time I play at level 20, but I'm personally willing to go into Gold as low as 10 or 12 on some kits. More like 15 on others. I either play Silver up until that point or I wait for character cards to drop so that I don't have to. I always keep at least 2-3 classes at level 20 at a time, so I always have a handful of fully evolved kits that I'm comfortable with on Gold.

I hardly ever wipe since I stopped playing Firebase White PUGs. When I was trying to get the Geth Mastery banner almost every Geth PUG I joined was on White. Even not playing Geth on White, I find more than any other map people who aren't doing so well just give up there, but wont leave. The last one I played there I gave up when I was down and saw I had 50k and the next teammate had 15k. I'm not a spectacular player, but I can solo OK. It's just not worth it to me to use everything I have and have a game last twice as long as normal, when I can reserve my stuff and join another game that will be over before the one on White.
It would also be nice if there was an option to deselect maps you weren't interested in playing, so the game wouldn't send you there for randoms.
I don't know why, but I really like the new White. Every so often you run into fairly skilled players there, and the match is almost as fast as Glacier. I always sigh inwardly though when I see someone make a beeline for the counter in the camp room.

I'd say my gold pug success rate >75%. I'm somewhat picky in lobbies. I won't voluntary play geth or with casters carrying heavy weapons (depending on class and weapon, some casters can, i.e. Valkyrie. I use a Claymore on her)

The first time we went up collectors and wiped on the second objective wave, which I think is 7. Lobby was decent. The collectors are just tough as nails.
The second time I didn't notice the guy upped the room from silver to gold and we wiped around wave 6-7 again. This was Cerberus. I thought to myself, "Damn, there are an awful lot of Atlases stomping about."
The last gold game was in the same lobby. I actually equipped gear as I don't use any for silver and we selected Reapers for our enemy. Winded up on Ghost and extracted. We frequently got down to me and one other player because others kept getting grabbed by Banshees, but I think our host was foreign and our lag was terrible.
Fun night, all in all.
