And the Thorian wasn't destroyed by synthetics either.

I highly doubt it ever created one.

Leviathans still around right? Is it not ridiculous that the Leviathans decided that it was inevitable that organics would create synthetics that would go on to destroy them, and so decided to create a synthetic?

Thorians not creating a synthetic shows that it's not inevitable that organics will create synthetics that will go on to destroy them.

Also, the Dragon Age: Origins lead designer had something to say about that.

"End on a positive note. This is really important for video games...life in general is full of shi**y stuff happening all the time. When I invest a hundred hours into a game I need to walk away feeling like a hero." ~Brent Knowles~ Lead designer of DA:O

But that's all subjective. I prefer meaningful endings to cheesey ones.

This ending should have been an option for those that wanted it, with all the other endings in place as well for those that don't. By doing this everyone would have been able to achieve an end to the game they wanted, some dark and grim but also some with a little bit of hope (as the end in the mod isn't all sunshine and roses like some people seem to indicate).

Why is it so hard for some (not all by any means) people who like Bioware's endings to accept that there are others who don't like them. To each their own, I like this mod myself and I'm also glad those who don't want a slightly happier ending don't need to use it.

We accept that you don't like them, we resent that you feel as though Bioware should bend over and cater to your indiivdual needs for an ending.

Mass Effect wasn't intended to end triumphantly, it's time to accept it.

ME3's ending means nothing within the series. Now, put it in something else that deals with primarily the evils of technology and how it will come to harm us, then sure.

However, ME wasn't about that, it only touched upon it a bit.

It's amazing how instead of finishing the game after Anderson's speech, they went ahead and added the starchild, organic vs synthetic bullcrap and a final choice which was completely unnecesary. Oh, and they removed half of the Shep-Anderson dialogue. I still can't believe it.
Why remove the good things and do extra-work to screw it up? It's beyond me.

The thorian is a plant.

Isn't it sapient? Or is it?  Surely it is.  It could theoretically control another organic to create a synthetic, I suppose.

That's reaching though. :P

False.

The Reapers motives are not within our comprehension, the problem they deal with is typically never seen in our civlization. Why? Because they deal with it before our galaxy advances to that point. You don't even need Leviathan DLC to know that: the patterns are in the data. ME1 is when the harvest was supposed to begin, synthetics were primitive. After the delay, "true" AI (like EDI/geth) were created. They're still new, and too small a population to be threats to anyone.

So, no. If this fanbase is an indication, Sovereign was right. The majority of us do not comprehend it. The fact that people see Rannoch as "proof" that they're wrong goes to show that.

So you would gladly accept being shot in the face if someone says "Sorry one day you might launch a nuke that starts WW3. It may not happen though, but yeah." If you really believe in this then you are...already indoctrinated.

We all might just kill ourselves, because it is possible for our governments to erase humanity at any point of time with one push of a button. THAT´s the logic of the Reapers. Do you support this?

Inasmuch as the Protheans are "still around" after the last cycle. Some survived, but nothing to write home about.

Is it not ridiculous that the Leviathans decided that it was inevitable that organics would create synthetics that would go on to destroy them, and so decided to create a synthetic?

Is it not ridiculous for Shepard, who has only ever had bad experiences with synthetics in ME1, to ally with EDI and Legion in ME2 to fight a race of slaves serving hostile synthetics in ME2?

Oh, seems I answered your question with a question!

Can't fight you on that. However, the Thorian is clearly a bit of an anomaly when it comes to organic life, so...

I don't expect Bioware to do anything, what is done is done. I'm just glad the mod exists for those of us who want a better ending to finally get it. I feel sorry for you if you 'resent' the fact I and others wanted a better ending I really do.

It's not about want, it's about demanding that Bioware caters to your needs, that you somehow feel you have the right to decide how Bioware chooses to end their story.  That you are even arrogant enough to assume that Biowares ending is a personal affront to you.

No. Why would it be? Shepard never decided that it was inevitable that synthetics would want to shoot him.

The Leviathans apparently decided it was inevitable, that were they to create a synthetic (and it would happen at some point, inevitably) that it would try to kill them at some point, and succeed. I'd say it'd be ridiculous for them to decide that the best move to prevent this, would be to create a synthetic.

That's why it's clear that they (Mr. Hudson, with an assist by Mr. Walters) meant to trash the franchise once and for all. Everyone who goes around claiming the ending is somehow "meaningful" is deluding themselves. 'tis a sorry spectacle.

Are you serious? He just said what's done is done and he doesn't expect them to change it. Where is the demanding in this?

On another note: would you please share what the ending "means" to you?
Because I noticed that a lot of people automatically think sad=meaningful. It's just ridiculous.

The Leviathans never decided anything, they were simply investigating the problem.

Only the catalyst draws that conclusion about inevitability.

Haven´t played that DLC, but weren´t the Leviathans big on subduing other species? If they regarded all sapient beings as themselves, then for them it was inevitable. Why the hell they decided to give unlimited power to an AI instead of AI limiting laws across their empire escapes me. Citadel banned AI research after the Geth uprising, didn´t made develop a new AI to study and fix the problem.

More great writing I guess.

Well I assume the people I speak to have good knowledge of the English language unless proven otherwise. So to clarify, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" is a commonly-used example of a loaded question. That is, a question that contains an assumption. So all I was saying was that you were asking me a loaded question about Synthesis.

Ah well I was asking if you think Synthesis is a good thing. Bioware thinks it is, but many people disagree, like me. From your comments it seemed to me that you do support it.

It could be seen as hubris, but that's pushing it to get the point across that they are fallible.
