You know that constant banter the game feeds you at the bottom left of the HUD, when a new codex entry is unlocked or a screenshot is saved? You know how the codex is organized in a terrible fashion? Why not make it easier to dig through by making those notifications into a full blown facebook-style feed...
Now before you roll your eyes, let me give some examples of what I mean.
Somewhere in the journal, list the previous pop up entries (the Party Feed, if you will). If I down a golem for the first time mid fight, maybe I want to read about him, but I can't be bothered to pause and click that "Codex entry unlocked!" button right then. So instead of digging through the ridiculous numbered codex entries later, I can go back to this convenient list and quickly get the down-low on said golem. This would work similarly for random poems or statues that also reveal more of Ferelden's rich history.
It could also be filterable by party member, location, or event type. A list of things like when party members level up and what stat/skill points you assigned. Sometimes I can't remember where my last 3 points went, and I forget which stat I was saving up for! And if you want to go back and read all the entries about a dungeon you just obliterated, you could easily scroll back through and read the backstory in the order you discovered it.
I dunno, I like reading the codex entries, but not necessarily the moment it pops up. And after it's gone, all I get is a glowing journal full of throbbing gold numbers. Yeah, I said throbbing.
What do you think? Does this even make sense? Kind of ties in with the persistent log of your deeds online, no?
(Also if someone already had this idea, kindly point me to the thread. Wasn't sure what search terms to look for.)
