Why would i take talon IV if i already have Acolyte X ?

Acolyte > better damage vs shields/barrier
            > staggers better
            > not enough to destroy armor, as the Talon.
            > lighter
            > projectile bounces and can kill guardian if aimed on sides or hand or feet.

Talon    > can pierce wall and covers
            > not affected by shield gate
            > 1 more round in the clip

So ?  What kit could make a very good use of the Talon ?

Talon is good on all character, but so is acolyte. I use talon and paladin if pistol is main weapon, as sidearm scorpion and acolytes are best

Talon also gets a bonus against Shields/Barriers, though it's not near as large (I believe it's 50 percent). Makes it more attractive versus some other pistols.

Haha.. Headshot with that little shotgun ? Yep, at 5m. Not at 30... And headshot bonus = x2.5 (base). Acolyte bonus against shield/barrier = x5. And you can't always headshot, sometimes you need to shoot fast to stun or something..

I'm not saying the Talon is crap, it's awesome. But acolyte is better IMO.

The acolyte is a great sidearm. Good at applying ammo effects, some stagger, great at stripping shields, horrible at killing anything with armor. The Talon is good as a primary. That's the main difference.

Depends if you want close range vs longer range. On a Fury or Vanguard, Talon is an excellent addition to the play-style that wants a shotgun/heavy hitter. If you are a squishy human adapt that probably is only going to fire his/her weapon a few times a round, the acolyte is better, especially when wanting to strip shields and barriers before throwing warp on the target.

If you want stats on the two, check out this amazing spreadsheet by Cyonan:

Depends on playstyle and character. If you have a character that uses powers that have a CC aspect on unshielded targets, then the acolyte all the way. If you are looking for headshot damage then the talon. If you are looking to run and gun, then something like the hurricane is better.

"some" stagger ? It always staggers dragoons and wrecks phantoms, it's awesome. I'm sure i'll spend at least 60sec to try to kill that phantom with a Talon

And i don't understand. Talon = good as main weapon. Acolyte > Talon. So why isn't the acolyte good (better) as main weapon ? I often play with only acolyte and do awesome matches. B)

The talon is a one weapon to rule them all gun for classes that are highly dependent on weight and already have on-demand CC or stagger powers. The acolyte is a great sidearm for shield stripping and staggering when you have another weapon to kill bosses.

Acolyte.

If I want a lightweight shotgun, I use the Wraith because the Acolyte and Scorpion are too useful as sidearms to sacrifice for a Talon.

The Talon only gets used as a sidearm to some of my snipers since sniper rifles are pretty crappy in CQC when you're outnumbered.

Acolyte is better than talon on my destroyer or GI or anything. What does really have Talon that Acolyte has NOT, making it better in X situation ?

There we go.  Acolyte is so I can pull and reave things.  Talon is for killing everything that moves.  And collector web thingies.

When guns offer different advantages they usually fit with different strategies hence different characters and builds. For example I actually prefer an Acolyte on my Geth Soldier, light weight and gets shields and barriers down fast with a bonus stagger so I can rip through the armor with a high damage flamethrower. The Talon is not nearly as effective or fast working on him. But on the other hand with my Salarian Engineer the Talon is a much better fit. Energy Drain offers me a way to strip off shields and barriers while repairing my own, the Acolyte isn't nearly as effective on him so the Talon is more impressive.

Both are very good guns. Just depends on who the character is and how you play them.

It doesn't stun them on Gold/Plat

The only way that would even be possible is if you used Disruptor Ammo with it, and even then that would be the Disruptor Ammo stunning the Dragoon and not the Acolyte.

Run a TSol w/ all RoF marksman build. Use clip and new dmg barrel mod. Toss on a pistol 5 gear, pistol 3 amp, AP 4 ammo... And play some reapers gold...... and watch that puppy chew up some critters FAST ;)

Yes, Talon AND Reegar AND Harrier are better than Acolyte at killing armored targets. What is your point?
