Help!  I'm really confused and frustrated!

I'm a mage in the fade.  When I cast arcane bolt at an enemy all goes well---the FIRST time.  Then, after waiting for the spell to cool down, I can click on the spell but when I click on the enemy, my curser changes to the physical attack (sword) icon and WILL NOT LET ME cast arcane bolt again at the same enemy.

Am I missing something?  I can't find ANYTHING in the documentation or spell info to say that this is normal.

Is this normal?  Can it be fixed?  If so, how?

PLEASE help!  I have hardly begun this game and I am frustrated as all get out.

If it's a single enemy, you don't have to click on it. Just click on the arcana bolt and it will be casted on the selected enemy. You already selected this enemy when you first cast the spell.

At least thats what I guess is going wrong.

Or you can try first click on Arcana Bolt and then select your target.

As this might cause some confusion, it should be said that you CANNOT do it this way if you already have a target selected. If your mage is already attacking the enemy, any activated single target spells* will automatically target this enemy.

Oh, and you select targets by right-clicking on them. You'll also notice some small arrows around your current target's circle.

*Offensive spells only, of course. You can't heal/buff your enemies.

If you already have a target, you will cast most targeted spells on it (there are some exceptions where you have to choose the target again) after clicking on said spell.

But if you have no target yet, clicking on a targeted spell will change the mouse cursor and you have to select a target.

If you click on an enemy while you are already casting a spell, the spell will be interrupted and you will instead attack with your weapon (which is a physical attack if you dont have a staff).

There is a cooldown timer between shots.

I had that problem too when I realized that :

1/ if you already have a target just click on the spell

2/ if you want to change target, FIRST click on the target then on the spell

3/ if you don't have a target, np...
