Nobuo Uematsu
Yasunori Mitsuda
David Arkenstone
Adam Skorupa

Yasunori Mitsuda might be a stretch, but Nobuo Uematsu has shown great range post Square-Enix/Final Fantasy. Adam Skorupa would probably be the best fit, coming from The Witcher.

Finally, there is David Arkenstone. Man, this guy has so many different styles, I wouldn't put it past him to be able to do a full game soundtrack.

Why do I oppose the standard issues people, like Inon Zur? Because they produce the same standard issue pieces, time and time again.

Personally I think Inon Zur's work on Dragon Age 2 wasn't that good. I love the majority of his work on Origins but 2 just seemed to be a mediocre/average fantasy soundtrack. I want a soundtrack that feels magical and engages me into the world of fantasy. Dragon Age 2 didn't do this and if Bioware are bringing Inon back he really needs to take time on the score and step up his game.

Games like the Elder Scrolls and Guild Wars 2 really got it right.

Movies/TV series like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones had amazing soundtracks.

Here are some composers that I think would be great on the Inquisition soundtrack

Jeremy Soule - www.youtube.com/watch
Ramin Djawadi - www.youtube.com/watch
Howard Shore - Mass Effect got Clint Mansell... Would it be possible to get another big name composer?
Jesper Kyd - www.youtube.com/watch

Who would you personally like to see? A new composer or Inon Zur returning?

Zur had some good pieces, both in DA:O/ Awakening and DA 2, although I agree that it's definitely hit and miss. I find Jeremy Soule to be much more of a cinematic composer. His music is powerful, evocative, and incredibly memorable.

That said I'd actually like to see Mark Griskey take a crack at composing the music for a Dragon Age game. He is easily Soule's equal.

If he could deliver something as slow, brooding and moody as THIS or like THIS with its nice build-up and sheer majesty; I swear the man rivals John Williams himself when it comes to composing for Star Wars. Dragon Age's music is deeply rooted in classical music, and I think Griskey would be perfect! :o

As long as something as incredibly beautiful as Fear Not This Night is in the soundtrack I don't mind.

Though I did happen to like Inon's DA2 soundtrack, for me it was an actual enjoyable aspect of the game.

Edit: Oh! Oh! Oh! Jeremy Soule and Inon Zur? Inon does great specific themes such as Fenris' theme, and Rogue Heart (I think that's it) and Jeremy does wonderful ambient music, if those two worked on DA3 I would just... *faints*

If Inon Zur is up for it then he's my first choice. He did a fantastic job with DAO and even though none of the DA2 soundtracks really is anything memorable to me i think he's the right person for the job. He's sort of become part of what is Dragon Age. If not him then i'd just be happy if either Sam Hullick or Jeremy Soule got the job

Michael Giacchino because I would be fascinated to listen to his musical choices for this kind of game.

Jeremy Soule, Jack Wall, Brian Tyler, and goddamn it, BioWare, if you lucky bastards manage to get Clint Mansell on board for another game, use him for more than a handful of tracks.

Lots of praise for Jeremy Soule here and he is a good composer. But as someone else said it feels like you've heard his music before somewhere. For example I played Icewind Dale again not so long ago (best score made by Soule?) and I could hear lots of hooks from Neverwinter Nights, The Elder Scrolls and KotOR in it... or is it I could hear Icewind Dale in those games rather.
This is something you can hear in most composers though I think.
He's still good though but my vote wouldn't fall on him since he is being used by everyone already and it would be better to hire someone less over used than him.

Haven't heard much of Inon Zur apart from the expansion to Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale II and Dragon Age. For some reason though, listening to some music on the trailers to DA:O before it was out yet the first thought that struck me was that they had hired Inon Zur for this.
He's been doing the score so far, so why not let him continue? Unless he burned his bridges with EA for criticising them for rushing the release.

Guess I wouldn't mind any other composer though since they have all been hired as composers for a reason.

Otherwise I would like to see the return of Michael Hoenig for a BioWare game again.

I'd like to hear Akira Yamonoka(sp?) of Silent Hill fame take a crack at a fantasy game soundtrack, he'd only need to tweak his style abit for it to work perfectly

Otherwise Yasunori Mitsuda; the greatest video game comper to ever grace the earth; and yes any opinions contrary to this are wrong and you should feel ashamed

Whoever composed Shadow of the Colossus would be great, The girl from kingdom hearts and alotta s-e soundtracks, Hard to think of non Japanese composers, most western game soundtracks are completely unmemorible, but i'd say The Assasin's creed series composer would be good also or the guy who composed Castlevania: lord of shadows (from spain i think?) basicly anyone other then Inon Zur would be super bioware

and don't feel like you need to confine yourselves to an "established sound" cause that's just an exscuse for being uncreative & lazy

Together with Stuard Chatwood he did compose the music for 2008 PoP.

Inon Zur
Jesper Kyd
Jack Wall (Jade Empire soundtrack is still one of the best I ever heard)
Daniel Licht (Dishonored)
Grant Kirhope + Mark Cromer (Kingdoms of Amalur)
Russel Shaw

I've seen people mention Jeremy Soule, and while I think he's the finest composer in the industry today, I don't think he'd do well in a modern BioWare game. His style suits large, open worlds, whereas all BioWare games nowadays (sans TOR) are made of small rooms connected with loading screens.

Inon Zur, no other options. Also, I liked his work on DA2 better than his work on Origins, so that's a thing.

I would like something fresh. I'm not a music expert so it doesn't really matter to me who composes the music as long as it doesn't sound anything like the previous games. I really enjoyed the music from Kingdoms of Amalur, especially the plains music.

I'd like to see Jesper Kyd given a go in the DA series personally. Ezio's Family in particular is phenomenal.

Oh, also Christopher Tin. I'm not sure his usual musical style would mesh with DA, but he's reasonably versatile and makes great music.

Russell Brower, he did absolutely fantastic work for Blizzards' games :).

Or if they want to go Japanese I'd like to hear Masashi Hamauzu. My first introduction to his video game compositions was from Saga Frontier 2, which had an absolutely gorgeous atmosphere.

Some composers that I think come to mind include Nobuo Uematsu, Kow Otani (Shadow of the Colossus), or the group of composers who did the Nier soundtrack. Bear in mind that this is only if Bioware doesn't decide to go with Inon Zur again.

Inon Zur,he's THE composer for dragon age,and the theme from the first game,is one of my favorites, other than him(the thought's going to make me cry) ummmm...maybe the skyrim composer? Or maybe the composer from,....Lord of the Rings? I'm unsure,my knowledge of composers doesn't go too far from zur, elfman, walker(Shirley, r.i.p.) and Williams(obvious).

Bit of a thread necro isn't this? Still we've gotten some hints that Trevor Morris may be the DAI composer. Check out this thread for more info.
