My only real discrepancy with the direction of the Dragon Age world and it's history, characters, forces, etc... is the cliche and mediocre appearance of Darkspawn; they remind me of an awkward combination of orcs and Yuan-Ti. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but in The Calling there are two ghouls, humans who have decayed due to the Dark Spawn rot, and I feel that all Dark Spawn should look as such, with faded human features, as to represent their presence in this world as harbingers of sin.

I like the in-game depictions of darkspawn - the hurlocks look like twisted humans with crazy eyes, diseased skin and elongated skeletal grins full of sharp teeth. The recent Secret Ashes trailer, however, made them look like orcs. There are also in-game darkspawn enemies who do look like goblins - I'm not sure what they're called, but I'm not as sold on their appearance as I am on the hurlocks'.

MrGOH, those are Genlocks and are Dwarf Darkspawns. ;p

I thought the genlocks looked like short hurlocks. I suppose I should have realized that growing long elf-ears is exactly the sort of insulting disfigurement the Blight would inflict on dwarves.;p

Overall, the Darkspawn are the main antagonist of the Universe and thus shouldn't be cliche and unremarkable.
