If You Were Directing Dragon Age: The Movie, Who Would Fill the Starring Roles?

Tim Curry is awesome but he's too harmless looking to be Arl Howe- you need some one that looks like he'd stab you in the back given the chance. Maybe Joe Pantoliano? The voice is totally different but the character is there
I LOVE the idea of Skarsgard (whatever) as Cailan - great great great choice, and same with Hellen Mirren as Wynne.
How about Gary Oldman as Bann Teagan?

Not so sure I can picture Gary Oldman in the role of a good guy....every time I see him all I can think about is Fifth Element or Bram Stoker's. Not sure I like that idea too much.
I've given it some more thought and what about Tim Robbins with a little hair dye and make up he could pull off a slightly younger role, such as Teagan.

Verne troyer would be a horrible Oghren. It is easy to decide that, listen to Oghren's voice acting, then listen to Verne Troyer's voice. Not even close.
Sam Worthington could be Alistair, but I would prefer him as the Male human noble, and Ryan Reynolds as Alistair.
If ryan reynolds was alistair I would have a hard time not picturing him as the step dad from the amnityville horror.

Tim Curry is one of the least harmless looking people on the planet- nice guy and everything, but he has that deliciously diabolical look when he wants to.SuSuSudio wrote...

A lot of actors change their accents, and I think if given the proper training Ryan Reynolds could pull of a British accent, just my thoughts.
My other thought was Heath Ledger, he would been pretty great in the part too, but obviously that could never happen for pretty clear reasons.
I think the choice for leliana is perfect, she can pull off being naive and sexy while at the same time be taken seriously as a cold blood killer/Assassin when she needs to be. And considering Milla martial training from other movies like resident evil, she can easily fit in with this character, probably being able to do her own stunts most of the time. Milla with a dagger is kick A(*&! Plus leliana is darker character we gave her credit for, she seduces man (her targets), and kills them while they're having sex (if need be), that killer instinct stuff. Plus being a sexual assassin has it bearings that leliana herself had to find refuge from the chantry.

I know CG movie would probably cost a fortune to make, but I bet it would be less compared to Hollywood-star-filled-live-action movie. And besides, CG technology gets better by the year, if not months. Every time I watch Avatar I still cannot believe Na'vi are CG.

Now for my list keep in mind as a film maker I have actually written a script for my own personal enjoyment, and am basing my list off that; that is to say a solid Dragon Age movie would have to make choices on what path to take the story and skip a lot of the filler among other things to make it silver screen worthy. As such I would see a lot of characters as unnecessary. I also feel the Cousland origin story would be the best beginning as it would give a good back story into Howe's evil which will be important later in the story.
Rendon Howe - Alan Rickman
Alistair - Chris Evans
Duncan - Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Zevran Arainai - Antonio Banderas
Morrigan - Kate Beckinsale/Claudia Black
Arl Eamon Guerrin - Liam Neeson
Oghren - John Rhys-Davis
Revered Father Eirik - Paul Giamatti
Leliana - Katie Cassidy
Flemeth - Judi Dench
Fergus Cousland - Sean Bean
Riordan - Viggo Mortensen
Cailan - David Anders
Brother Kolgrim - Gerard Butler
Bann Teagan Guerrin - Gary Oldman
Found the rest hard to place, especially given age considerations.

No CW actors/actresses
I wouldn't mind seeing some good talent taking on the roles of the characters - and by good talent, I mean the ones that likely never win awards because they aren't being gossiped about.
That in mind.
Andy Whitfield - Male Noble Warden. He doesn't have the actual kinda voice for Alistair, but Spartacus proves he can kill them all.
John Hannah is my pick for Howe. He knows how to be a devious little bastard - again, a Spartacus reference.
Steve Valentine himself could easily be Alistair.
