3. It's clear in the animated animated gif (included at bottom of this post) that Ashen used bursts from his flamer to take down the atlas' shields prior to getting the single cast flamer kill.
Look at the ammo counter, he's definitely firing his acolyte, he's not using his flamer at all.

Why Ashen's claim and submitted proof are not valid:
Sounds like you're calling him a liar to me, just in a flowery language. It would help if your whole post didn't reek of bitterness.

This is BSN. People get off on proving others wrong.

Only thing I care is if we can take down Gold Atlas with single Flamer blow or not...
as far as I can tell, I could not bring down a gold Scion with single Flamer blow.. but with DOT it seemed possible.

Pretty much this. As a student in Theory of Knowledge courses, I can say that not valid = false, and in some context (this one in particular), false = lying.
I could delve a whole lot deeper, but I don't think anyone's even reading at this point.

First off, I went to test this and then found myself running into the problem of how do I know the exact point to stop firing my Hurricane V with AP IV to prevent from damaging the atlas'armor? You get a visual reference with the bars but that is not a precise measurement of damage. Its like trying to weigh yourself with a scale that uses bars that indicate 50 lbs versus the actual numbers.ryoldschool wrote...
Hey dude, I understand why you question the assertion he made, but I was totally expecting some video evidence posted here that would give any more weight to your position.
From where I sit, you are both just saying your opinions.
I tried Ashen's build with a power III mod and was unable to take down a Banshee's armor on Gold in one go - but there are a lot of variables involved ( other people where shooting, I might not have been close enough, etc ).
If you are serious about this then you should produce a video. Excuse me if I missed a link to a video in your opening post
Ryan_H wrote...In game, it is nigh impossible to determine the precise point that an atlas loses it's shields....ts a matter of seen and unseen damage and a seperation point that can't be discerned without specialized software on the client side.
A video will not help determine the exact point the damage point is met for the shield threshold.
And I'm not offering opinions and I'm questioning his claim based on numbers and game mechanics that are not invented or opinions.

What? Bitterness? Wow! You must think the science community is full of bitter people as it is full of people who offer proofs and people who question the validity of those proofs.

No, but its entertaining and I'm broke tonight and thus can't go out with my friends. What better way to spend a Friday evening than on the BSN *SARCASM* (included that as I don't think you would've been able to tell otherwise)

If I hadn't just promoted my Soldiers I'd be trying this out using an Acolyte to take down the shields. Yes, some damage might bleed through to arrmor, but it will be an insignificant amount.
That's exactly why I chose to use the Acolyte instead of something like a Reegar, or Particle Rifle with Disruptor Ammo.
I'm glad to see there is at least one person with common sense in this obvious troll thread.

OP don't try to use logic on the BSn. Despite that I have seen the game code correcting people on the forum is useless, they believe whatever BN(n) they want to and refuse to see logic or evidence that does not fit their belief.
LOL...this thread is full of proof of what you just said! But still if you stand back and don't allow the trolls to get to you its amusing.

Except that the science community is actually doing something productive instead of trying to destroy virtual mechs in a fictitous universe.

Rationalize it anyway you want. This is the 3rd thread this argument has gone into; two of which were made by you. Looks to me like you care a lot about being right over what's probably less than 100 damage.
