this is why i love mass effect it has actual story that doesn't try sugarcoat anything and doesn't take 4 different tittles of halo to tell the story before and after crap that happens in halo

Halo 4 ending owns ME3, no unnecessary synthetic vs organic bullcrap.
yeah that was done in the very first game nothing happens after all the other games they made sorry its sucks to say but halo stories are nothing but bs trying to soak players for another halo title just for some prequels and a crappy squeal that does nothing to change anyhting

That's total bull****. I can't think of any other FPS with as much lore and backstory as Halo. Most games don't "change anything" when you play them, what the hell do you do just sit around playing Mass Effect all day every day? Halo has always accomplished what it set out to do. The way some people talk about games on this forum would lead one to believe you just play like two games.

IMO Halo did a much better job at explaining it´s ending with clear cutscenes.... just imagine if Master Chief ...after the last battle...big explosion..you saw UNSC folks reluctant to place his name on a memorial.... and the last second cutscene... there was a deep breath..
You just described the ending to Halo 3 and Mass Effect 3 except in Halo the chief gets his name carved on the memorial he doesn't even get a plaque after all he did.
Anyway once upon a time Halo was the SOLE reason I bought an xbox after playing it at a friends house I thought the universe was amazing it unique for me, it really introduced me to sci fi in video games. Then KOTOR and eventually Mass Effect came out and it flat out beacme my favorite game I can't tell you how many times I played that game I think the only games I had played more was FF7 & FF9. Now after the Ending of Mass Effect 3 I can still play the game just not finish it.
I do not own Halo 4 neither am I a die hard fan but after watching all the cutscenes online I can say that my personal opinion is that the ending to Halo 4 was much better and fit the overall theme of the game, whereas Mass Effect 3 ruined the themes of the trilogy. Forget the fact that they are different genres the actual story telling was much better in Halo it plucked at my emotions in the right places instead of a "wtf was that" feeling I got from ME3 and honestly if it had been any other game that had done that I would have returned it.
Don't get me wrong I love Mass Effect 3 it's a brilliant game (if flawed in some places) but the ending even after the EC depresses the hell out of me the only thing I hated more was Kai Leng.

But in halo 3 we knew the chief was alive and drifting in space, and in the legendary ending it showed requiem, so we had some idea where we stood.
Cheif gets his name in the memorial but it is shown he is alive aboard Dawn.... In ME3 ending (destroy + high ems) I have no idea if Shepard lived or what that breath scene meant..
And we have to give credit to microsoft for deciding to continue the halo series, with master chief, shepard story as some devs said ended with this trilogy, and that alone is a bit sad (imo)
Getting attached to a character for 3 games and hundreds of hours, so it just ends replaced by another... That adds both a feeling of indiference ..

I didn't mean anything by it Just thought it was funny that's all.
I've posted this before but bioware hero's dont have a history of suriving
Revan - Missing presumed dead after SWTOR (vanished after fight during flashpoint)
Exile [Obsidian character] Dead in Star Wars The Old Republic - Revan
The Warden - Dead/ Missing
Hawke - Missing
Edit: Shepard - Dead in four endings lying in rubble in one
I don't mind hero's dying if it is done well but tbh I prefer them to survive.

I loved DA: Origins, but never bought DA2 mostly because the generic Hawke guy .. Looked uninteresting from the start.. i wanted to continue the warden's adventures not this Hawke guy and his sister, narrated by a weird dwarve...
I agree with you a hero can die if they die well, but in a game like Mass Effect saying a hero has to... goes against the base of the game, freedom of choice.

I did. You know you've got a great game on your hands when players will be just as happy sitting at the menu as playing the game.
God why every dev can't be as thorough as Bungie/343i in creating their games is beyond me...

Just a thought. Anyone else, when you first chucked the game in, sit at the main menu for a good 10 minutes simply looking at it and listening to the music?

I definitley did the same thing.
As for good deves, they are out there. I personally liked Naughty Dog and CD Projekt Reds work. Not comparable games to either Halo 4 or ME but still, well thought out, polished games deserve notice. Bioware isn't bad, but they definitely let ME get away from them.

I dunno why you compare Halo 4 with ME3 though, they are completely different games from completely different genres.
And just to add a little bit. I can't wait to see what 343 industries will do in the future! I had doubts at first, but they turned out to be amazing.
When it comes to ME3. I would have been '' okay '' if I could have gotten at the very least one ( either a satisfying ending or a good game ). Instead, I was presented with a pile of dog**** that felt like it was directed towards children: I am not even going to go into it, but I was just so disappointed with it as a whole, felt nothing like ME1 or 2 and so linear and disappointing. After Rannoch I just stop playing now, I can't go any further. Rannoch and Tuchanka were both AMAZING. But there is so much wrong with the game as a whole.

job imo and I was very satisfied.

The comparison would be valid if we were comparing gameplay, but we're not. We're comparing 343i and BioWares ability to remain consistant with the established themes and plotlines and their ability to simply write a good story.
While ME has "choices", they don't really have that BIG of an effect on the main plot, within reason. Like in ME1, you always kill Saren and blow up Sovereign. In ME2, unless you're a derp, you always kill the Collectors one way or another. In ME3 sure you've got that ending "choice", but at the end of the day you don't actually see the effects of said choice other than in a short cutscene.
Hence you can still compare the the plots individual of their respective gameplay elements, just like how we compare ME3 to other literature. Are we really going to stop comparing ME3 to other sci-fi works just because you play a game instead of reading words on a page?

From a gameplay perspective, they indeed are very different and not comparable at all. But when it comes to immersion, story telling, and emotional connection, you can pretty much compare any game. In this case, I think Halo 4 and ME3 are indeed comparable.
