Gamespot deserves to be commended for their courage in their GOTY decision.

Personally, I still think Dragon Age is the better game, but as a new intellectual property Demon's Souls is thoroughly excellent and I respect gamespot's decision.
I think this almost redeems them from when they fired Jeff Gerstmann and gave Grand Theft Auto 4/Metal Gear Solid 4 perfect 10's.

All the good guys from GS left and made giantbomb, so it's like GS used to be.

Another thing I liked is that Modern Warfare 2 didn't even make the list of nominees.

Or they coldly calculated that they needed to make such an unpopular choice now in order to convince some other millions of fanboys that they were back on the enlightened path.Borschtbeet wrote...

I think gamespot was starting to go down hill, perhaps they still are. Nevertheless, they must've known that choosing a more obscure title like Demon's Souls over super hyped game's like Uncharted 2 would've pissed off millions of fanboys, yet they didn't cave into that pressure. They went with their hearts and they've earned some of my lost respect back because of it.
Another thing I liked is that Modern Warfare 2 didn't even make the list of nominees.
For some reason I could not read this without thinking this guy is pulling a Stephen Colbert here. In praising Gamespot, Borsch is parodying them.

Uncharted 2 is a fantastic game what's wrong with it.
That it is, I really liked it, it's stellar. Not my personal GTOY, but I can see sound reasoning behind it.
