Hoooly crap, I've been sooo busy with anime conventions and work and all sorts of other things. And my DA game is still being held hostage X\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  But, I decided to take a break from the work crunch to do another lil' comic, featuring Sten again!! 

The Qunari Code

So yeah, first playthrough I didn't really invest anything into coercion, because I was all like, "I'm a mage! I should study how to make things!" So yeah, when you're talking to Kolgrim and you take the vial of whatever it was, Sten gets really mad--which is crazy, because you know you're doing something super bad when STEN disapproves--and if you can't convince him otherwise, he challenges you to a duel. This was totally the first moment where it got real for me, because I was like, "Noo! I don't want to fight you!! But you gotta respect mah authoritay, bra!"

But yeah, I think Sten's the kinda guy who'd die for what he believes in. No matter how silly XD

Loved it! Kolgrim in the background is just hilarious! Poor Sten ( Did you continue on playing without him or you reloaded?

Oh yeah, in actuality after you fight him he says something like, "Well, maybe you're not as pathetic as I thought" and gets back in line. But because I'm shallow and didn't want him trying to stab me in the back again, I swapped him for Leliana XD

@Inz Well, for that character I just reloaded the save and just insulted Kolgrim straight off so he never offers--just attacks. But after the Andraste quest, I kicked Sten outta the party--THE CIRCLE OF TRUST WAS BROKEN!!



@Nachoman Well, glad you find 'em funny even if you don't like the style. That's the important thing =)

"The Ritual" ..I so saw that coming Typical male communication.



"Sweet Hat." I admit I kept that thing on one of my fem mage characters, but I never could shake the feeling that she was getting less respect for wearing the thing..at least until she started destroying everything in her path. Oppressed/Penned mage+second class elf (even in The Circle)+funny hat that everyone laughs at=Serious anger management issues.

Aaaaah, I've been soooo busy, but I managed to find some time to finally finish this: 



This is like, the first digital painting that I've ever actually done to completion (most of my stuff is usually cell shaded, or occasionally airbrushed) as usually I give up and cry. But not this time! I've kinda found a method that works for me, and I'm diggin' the results. This is my fem amell Moghedian, daydreaming about life outside the tower. I used artistic license on the mage robes to make 'em a little cuter (mainly making the top into a lil' bolero so you can tell she has boobs, haha), so hopefully everyone won't mind too much.

Wow, that is absolutely beautiful!   It makes me kinda sad though.  She seems like a trapped dove.  Aww.   I try to imagine how sad the mages must feel locked in the tower their whole life.

@Amethyst Definitely--the mages' story really struck a cord with me. Especially in Denerim where you have that chantry woman always reminding you that 'magic is meant to serve man, and never to rule over him'. But thankfully her life will change very soon! ^^

Love your painting of Moghelian daydreaming. amazing use of light. I can only re-create in PS, not draw from scratch so I'm in awe.

Adore the "Sweet Hat" comic. my lovely Morrigan looks like a fool in it. Who designed the clothing (and hair) for DA? they are so wrong! LOL.

First off, the comics and art are awesome, keep working at it and you will get so much better. Second, I have trolled a few forums on dragon age (borrowed the game from a friend to try it out, then bought my own copy a week later) and everyone agrees, the hats suck. They look like something designed by a guy who has had too much coffee and not enough sleep. The best comic for me so far is the Lady Aeducan explains it all. I really wanted the conversation options to not only gank trian, but the other brother as well, and come on, the way everyone describes dwarven politics, no one should be surprised even if you do kill him.

@Haitsien Thank you so much! Its just lots of practice and studying reference photos--I had like, 5 different pictures of people sitting under windows so I could get an idea for how the light would behave. And the warrior helms are pretty cool...but mage hats.... *Siiiiigh*
@Ronin Haha, exactly. Especially when you choose all the mean options to slight your brother before you leave for the deep roads. But see, if no one knows about it then its ok!

This next project's actually something I started back in Janaury when I was starting my second playthrough, and I've been working on/off on it ever since. Sten describes this scene in the game of the Darkspawn rising up out of the ground while him and his buddies are hanging out at camp. Something about that idea really resonated with me--the utter horror at having the ground literally burst open under your feet as these creatures start bursting through and cutting your friends to ribbons--that I knew I =had= to illustrate it. To do it justice, I opted to go for more of a realistic style than I usually do, and totally looked to the manga Berserk for inspiration (if you love DA you really should pick up Berserk--the guy is quite possible the most amazing manga artist ever, and his comic is epically dark, disturbing, and brutal (though VERY mature and nsfw)). Since the Chicago Comic con (C2E2) is coming up soon, I decided to go all out on this story and use it for my portfolio, so hopefully Bioware doesn't mind me using their designs to promote myself x.x

Anyway, I really hope you all like it, I worked pretty hard on it ^^

That is totally awesome! Although I hoped by Duncan cameo you meant he'd come and save her and recruit her to the wardens! Then it would be like the human commoner origin!
