That's what I assumed when I saw the hoodless pics. The armor is giving off the illusion that she has breasts. Probably an intentional move on Bioware's design teams part.

Interesting how some people pay sooooo much attention to boobs on a turian, when it was never specifically stated they don't have any....

Also funny how Bioware immediately gets called out for making everything sexy just because a female alien has boobs.

Sometimes, I really don't wanna live on this planet anymore.

Well, as a GUY, I can tell you that for one thing that breast exist, and that almost all creatures with warm blood have them.

Another fact, is that artist base most of their artwork on things they know of and can draw reference to, so when a person who draws something thinks in terms of drawing a humanoid female character, it's usually has the basic physiology of the female the artist has expereince with, IE we humans when we draw things that are similar to use, such as walking on two feet, have eyes, a mouth, hands, basic human body stuff, we tend to make them more closer to our own body type. Basically, the more human like a character is, the more physically similar the speices is made to appear, to signify the similarity.

And to be honest, that is perfetally okay to do. It doesn't become a problem, espcially when inacted in this case, because it doesn't detract from the character or become distracting. Her body structure is nice, she's not appealing to the horny teenager crowd because quiet frankly, if she were she'd look like a comic book babe with barley any close on, an almost completly exposed breast, and they would be the stripper sized ******.

She is, in essence, done correctly. She doesn't look like a shaved male turian alone, there are other subtler qualities such as the thinner face, smaller frame and physique, and of course the lack of head fringe that make her distinctly not a male turian. What you are basically asking is to throw basic physiology out the window and say, "HEY! I want a bald male turian to be a female! There shoule be no difference at all nor origical work put in! Swap the head, and keep the body as an in game model!" as if the mere thought that a female species might be automically similar to use yet so different at the same time can't exist, and that you need one extreme or the other.

....... Wow. I just.. ALL creatures with warm blood's got BREAST? or do you mean lactating mammarian glands? Because that is something completely diffrent. Humans and some primates are the only species with two round breasts at chest height, other than that, ALL mammals got mammarian glands. BIRDS however, do not. Some have developed glands in their throats to feed their young by gulping it into their mouths. Okay, btu I digress...

Yes, designers and artists draw soemthing that is meant to make us relate. Bipads make us relate more the species with four legs, SCIENCE shows. We dont relate with four legged creatures as much because we think them to be more animalistic. So yes, aliens that we are supposed to think are sentient and advanced needs to be designed as bipads in order to really appeal to us. However, round mounds on creatures chests to symbolise femininity is unoriginal and honestly just boring design. Uninventive design. They took the simplest symbol for femininity and added it. its almost like cheating. There are so many other ways to make her look female without boobs, she would look just as much like a female with them as without them. It just tears down on her that she's got them. it's not done correctly when people feel like it crashes with pre-established lore. ("Turian ladies aint got those funny bumps") Or codex entries on the females being very similar to the males, and not lactating animals. So when they anger fans that care about consistency, then they have definitively not done something right.

The last paragraph there, i feel like I've already answered it here.. .But okay. No, they have taken the human female model and twiddled with it, they have NOT done anything better than taking the male turian bodymodel and twiddled a little with that. They managed to take a very alien and original species and turned them into a human/turian morph. I cannot find originality in that.

(Also physiology is not the same as anatomy, bioware have most probably not the slightest clue about turian physiology, nor human for that matter )

You...just like the others...are the only ones assuming this.

You're the ones who see breasts and automatically think this.

You are the ones who think that breasts are the only thing that can make something appealing.

So you are tellin me, that female turian infiltrator is not meant to be seen as appealing?

Then explain why the hell else they slapped breats on a turian carapace, if not for the soule purpose of "BOOBS OR GTFO"

I am just really dissapointed over these boobs, because its just so unoriginal. I just, COME ON. It's like they cant figure out any other way to make something look feminine without the boobs. They could just as well just put makeup on her face and-wait, they did that. The eyelashes/eyeshadow/eyeliner/whatever the hell that around her eyes is.

Okai, lets just get this straight. Her having boobs is mostly a problem because just think about this for a second: What is the odds that this completely alien race, ALSO have a sexual selection of the developement of two spherical protrutions on each side of the females chest, at the EXACT same location human/asari/quarian mammari glands are. it is stated in the codex that turians are NOT lactating mammals, so there is no reason for them to have bony protrutions there. But it is kind of silly that I'm reacting this much to the turian titts, seing EVERY OTHER SPECIES IN THIS GALAXY HAS BOOBS. Just, wow. Wow. It's so unoriginal it's funny.

Turians used to fascinate me so much, because their design embodied something diffrent, just like the salarians. They actually seemed alien, and not just like a human in a bodysuit with weird legs and a mask, or blue space babes.

*sigh* I should srsly just give up, bioware has only dissapointed me since ME3... I should just learn to let it go.

You are so ****ing full of ****, its halarious.

1. It is not stated in the codex, or anywhere for that matter, that turians do not lactate. You just made that up. I can post links to prove what I say, can you?

2. The main defining trait that marks her as female is the lack of head fringe. It is the most visibly telling difference between the two. You ignored that to make your irrational and ****y indignation sound justified.

3. It's about the same odds as there being another speices of oxygen breathing, amino acid based life being in the galaxy, *cough*quarian*cough*. Or almost all the spiceis of the galaxy being able to digest eachothers quisine without problems. Or breathing the same atmospheric composition. Or having the same number of eyes. Or most species being tri-digit based. IE a lot of ****ing coincidences in the goddamn galaxy.

4. Krogans do not have breast, salarians don't have breast, volus don't possess them, vorcha don't either, neither do hanar or elcor. You made up your points again, to sell this idea that this is somehow wrong.

Name me a bird that gives birth to live young guineus.

"Turians typically stand over six feet tall, have two long,
proportionately thick fingers and an opposable thumb on each hand, each
tipped with talons, and a set of mandibles around their mouths. The most
distinguishing feature of turians is their metallic carapace, which is a
result of their evolution. Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors, however unlike most Earth avian creatures, turians are viviparous and give birth to live young.[1] In 2165, David Anderson
claimed that turians reminded him of the evolutionary link between
birds and dinosaurs. Turians are also recognisable by their voices,
which have a distinctive flanging
effect. Males and females do not differ greatly in physical appearance,
but female turians lack the crest of horns found in the males of the
race. The lifespan of a turian is comparable to that of a human.[2]"

They are nor the same, similar yes, but not the exact same as birds.

You already answered your question kid. "David Anderson
claimed that turians reminded him of the evolutionary link between
birds and dinosaurs."

Turians resemble avian dinosaurs, many of which were considered to give live birth. In fact several species of snakes and fish give live birth too! And while all birds lay eggs, guess what? Not all mammals give live birth! Monotreme mammals actually lay eggs, so that is NOT a defining characteristic of mammals. The only thing mammals have that is UNIQUE to them are mammary glands which I said earlier but aparantly you need me to reiterate that for you.

So once again, why base a species off avians/reptiles, and still give them the ONLY biologically unique trait from mammals? Brain cells budy, use them or lose them =D

Incorrect. There are roughly twice as many discovered species of birds (which turians are based off by the way) compared to mammals and they are warm blooded, and also lacking in mammary glands... Also many large dinosaur species were also considered to be warm blooded as well. May want to do some research before spouting out "facts" =P

On the subject of this thread...  what word do you think "mammal" is derived from? Give up?... MAMMARY!

We (mammals) are the ONLY species on this planet that use mammary glands/breasts/teets/bazongas to nurse our young. That is the one universal defining charactereristic of our class. Not warm blood, not hair, NOT LIVE BIRTH, but mammary glands!

So if I were an artist (and I am) and I was told to base an alien, bipedal lifeform on something reptilian or avian, you can be absolutely sure that I would NOT include the single major defining characteristic of mammals and put it into that creation. That would just  be incredibly sloppy work. Seriously that's something you would expect to see in crappy furry art, not some high budget sci-fi epic.

So yeah, when I look at this screenshot, it's just another way to ruin my suspension of disbelief, and I'm sure many others who actually put thought into what they see feel the same way. However, Bioware clearly doesn't want to appeal to that crowd. Instead of taking the time to use some creativity, they just lazily slapped a turian head (with minor modifications) on a human/quarian female body and PRESTO! Female Turian =/

Really this bothers me as much as the Quarian photoshoped stock art face

Seriously Bioware, you dissapoint yet again...

Oh thank GOD. LET ME LOVE YOU, acidic-ph0 <3

Okay, joking aside: This, forever this.

Well, since she isn't gonna be a permasquadie, I don't see the point of alternate outfits.  I'm gonna go with this:

It needs more yelling and apeals to indignation and emotions.

Ah yes, halarious. I am yet to figure out what that means...

1. "The most distinguishing feature of turians is their metallic carapace,
which is a result of their evolution. Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors, however unlike most Earth avian creatures, turians are viviparous and give birth to live young." From the codex. They are covered in plates, they are avian creatures, aka where would they stash the glands? You dont always have to have it SPELLED OUT that something is a certain way, deduction and logic works just fine as well! But, it has been specifically stated though!  The groundskeeper in ME2 spesifically stated that . "You are female too, right? You have those.."funny bumps", like the asari. Female turians does not have funny bumps like asari that gets in the way [for dancing]"

2. No, the most visially telling thing is that her neck is as thin as a humans, her bodystructure is so significally diffrent from the males that she looks to be a diffrent species, and her face lacks the beak. The missing fringe is a little bit strange for me, seing the metalic carapace is there to protect them..Seems weird they would develope a head without it. But could be that she's got plate on her head there, just not the fringe blades, so thats okay. Very understandable sexual selection that, the ornaments on their heads.

3. Well, theres a very big chance of the other species being oxygen breathing actually! You need either sulphour or oxygen (atoms with the 2 missing electrons in the outer layer) to power diffrent redox-reactions. Also them being carbon and aminoacid based isnt that strange, we've only got a limited regiment of atoms to choose from. Sad they havent picked any silicon based life-forms or such... But srsly though, dont you think its a bit nitpicky to argue over what matter of ATOMS they're built up from? They're hardly biologists making this game. Also the food has always bothered me so much.. That they can eat whatever.. But Again, its nitpicky to go at them for matters as that. BUT, in matters of DESIGN, which they have entire TEAMS to do, I do expect the best inventieve things they can come up with.

4. We never saw krogan NOR salarian bodies, they were covered up by clothing. We have neither seen hanar, drell, nor elcor females. Vorcha has only one gender. And you ask ME to get my facts straight? Dude, you just got OWNED.

Of course they made the species! No one is debating that... They also put the creative thinking in their heads to do research on chemical chirality to make their physiology unique, and also the same minds that brainstormed the entire Rachni race ( a true "starfish alien"). Bioware character artists KNOW how to be creative, but they refused to impliment that level of creativity in this instance, just like how they f*cked up Tali's face.

They can't hide behind artistic integrity when this is clearly another case of laziness when compared to what we KNOW they are capable of doing.

See this is why people are angry. When you forsake the sense of immersion and logic that the rest of your franchise is based on in order to appeal to a wider (dumber) audience then that deserves some major criticism.

Look at the creative designers behind the alien species in Alien, District 9, The Thing... all excellent examples of how to create alien creatures without resorting to the "everything must be anthropomorphised" trope. Compared to these sci-fi franchises, Bioware really dropped the ball on creature design.
