What about Couslands? What about A TOTALLY NEW FAMILY?
I swear, EVERYTHING has to be a fan-service.

I'd like an Amell background option very much. And is you were a mage in DAO, in DA2--even as a rogue--there was that family connection.

Although, I prefer the Amell mage connection.

lol. when Cullen was reminiscing over my Amell Warden. I'm thinking, yeah, that's my cousin, Dude.

My canon warden was an Amell and I like the slight connection that creates between the two games. I'm all for it extending into the third as a background option. Hawke, my Warden, Charade, and Carver all in the same room would be the dream scenario, but it'll never happen.

I would rather we have another noble house to play as this game *is a canon female Amell supporter*

[snip] I, personally, would consider this on the level of a HILARIOUS easter egg if they put in some kind of gag or comment if you manage your save games in such a fashion that the Warden, Hawke, and the DA3 protag are all related.  It'd be no worse than most of the one-line comments we get about our save imports.

They could also put in little comments about things like, if your Warden, Hawke, and DA3 PC were ALL mages, or ALL rogues, or ALL warriors.  You know what they say, once is chance, twice is coincidence, but three times is conspiracy.

I love this idea! Both my canon Hawke and canon Warden were female (human) mages, and if the option presents itself a third time (though I doubt it will), I will absolutely jump all over that. Even if I can't make another "Amell" character, I'd love there to be some content (even if it's only a line or two) for having made a mage in all three games.

Hmph thinking about this makes me wish that DA2 and DA3 had choice of races so you could trot out your All Dwarf or All Elf team and make some horrible snarky comments about who clearly Dwarves or Elves are the Master Race because they're the only people around here who get anything DONE.

Yes! This too! I miss being a dwarf. And this would be fantastic!

Alas, perhaps in future games.

So basically every time a Templar, Darkspawn or bandit so much as heard the word Amell they would run away while wetting their pants? Nice.

I don't see how this is fanservice. Some of us would simply like the option to link a series of playthroughs of Dragon Age:Origins (and Awakening) to Dragon Age II to DA: Inquisition with characters who are related, however distantly, through blood.

There will be multiple choices as far as character background goes in the next game, so nobody would be forced to play an Amell in any case.

Hmm... Personally I don't like the idea of being an amell again. But I wouldn't mind having a backgrounds such as.... The son/daughter(bastard?) of a powerful family in tevinter or your father/mother is a powerful magister. Then again why not an apostate that has been hidden by your family or heck a human child taught by the dalish!

I'm basically thinking about a mage character though.

I'd rather have a Brosca or Aeducan background. Oh, wait, no dwarven PC in DA3... *quiet sobbing*

Considering we're kind of stuck with a human protagonist, I actually don't mind that as an optional background. I have one file where my Grey Warden was a male human mage and Hawke was a male mage, would be kind of cool to continue the tradition so to say. :) Especially with connections to the Warden and Hawke, it makes for an interesting canon.

I think this would be epic. I'd have three Amell mages, all related.

I am in support of a background that is Amell related. A transplanted Marcher Amell sounds pretty cool.

I think it would be a fun option for a play through if it was one of the background choices available. I'd likely use it for my mage playthrough.

Ditto. That's the main reason I started this thread. I have an Amell male in DA:O and a ManHawke mage in DA 2. I'd like to turn it into a Family Saga Trilogy-type deal.

I want an Amell, a Hawke or a Cousland background.
(But I mostly want to play Hawke again.)

I suppose Hawke might have had cousins in Fereldan. Why not?

Also, I like the idea of a Cousland background, though obviously they'd have to be a cousin of the Cousland Warden (or the dead young noble Cousland, depending on your character choice in the first game) since sibling is out of the question (although bastard half-sibling is a possibility).

Heck, I have a Cousland male warrior from the first game who made the ultimate sacrifice (but got better for Awakening!) who I linked to a female Hawke mage in DA II. I wouldn't object to having the option of connecting that Warden to the PC in Inquisition by Cousland blood.

How could you possibly have a Cousland background? DAO mentions that Fergus and PC Cousland are the last of the Couslands. I never heard of any Hawke relatives and given that Malcolm Hawke initially came from the Circle we have no idea if he had other relatives and he likely didn't either. However, from DA2 we know that Leandra's cousin had more than one child taken away, so the possiblity of another Amell seems more plausible, to me. :) Although, I do think an unknown Hawke would be a cool connection. :)

This is an interesting idea :) IMO it could even conceivably work for any of the races/origins. For example, you might play a halfling PC related distantly to Aeducan or Brosca (IIRC one of Aeducan's relatives ran off with an elven lover at one point so it doesn't seem to be out of the question), or one of Soris Tabris' children with his human lover.

The PC would be human but would have an extra unique connection.

I'd say that I'd prefer a connection to a different origin - Amells have had their turn! - but the ones I'd be interested in seeing are right out, because for some reason, elves apparently have no stake in this fight and thus are unsuitable to be the PC.

So sure. Amell. Better than Cousland.

Still, if the half Elf or Half Dwarf are still looking as Humans, there should be a chance to have a background with the other Origins familyes, even non Humans ones.

It would made sense.

Ot at least see again some of the people from Origins. We have in DA2 the Dalish's Warden Clan, and Merrill. So, it would made sense to see Shianni, or Rica, or someone else from the Origins background.
