I'd really like to see an Amell family selectable background

I swear, EVERYTHING has to be a fan-service.

Although, I prefer the Amell mage connection.
lol. when Cullen was reminiscing over my Amell Warden. I'm thinking, yeah, that's my cousin, Dude.

[snip] I, personally, would consider this on the level of a HILARIOUS easter egg if they put in some kind of gag or comment if you manage your save games in such a fashion that the Warden, Hawke, and the DA3 protag are all related. It'd be no worse than most of the one-line comments we get about our save imports.
They could also put in little comments about things like, if your Warden, Hawke, and DA3 PC were ALL mages, or ALL rogues, or ALL warriors. You know what they say, once is chance, twice is coincidence, but three times is conspiracy.
I love this idea! Both my canon Hawke and canon Warden were female (human) mages, and if the option presents itself a third time (though I doubt it will), I will absolutely jump all over that. Even if I can't make another "Amell" character, I'd love there to be some content (even if it's only a line or two) for having made a mage in all three games.
Hmph thinking about this makes me wish that DA2 and DA3 had choice of races so you could trot out your All Dwarf or All Elf team and make some horrible snarky comments about who clearly Dwarves or Elves are the Master Race because they're the only people around here who get anything DONE.
Yes! This too! I miss being a dwarf. And this would be fantastic!
Alas, perhaps in future games.

What about Couslands? What about A TOTALLY NEW FAMILY?

I don't see how this is fanservice. Some of us would simply like the option to link a series of playthroughs of Dragon Age:Origins (and Awakening) to Dragon Age II to DA: Inquisition with characters who are related, however distantly, through blood.
There will be multiple choices as far as character background goes in the next game, so nobody would be forced to play an Amell in any case.

I'm basically thinking about a mage character though.

I think it would be a fun option for a play through if it was one of the background choices available. I'd likely use it for my mage playthrough.
Ditto. That's the main reason I started this thread. I have an Amell male in DA:O and a ManHawke mage in DA 2. I'd like to turn it into a Family Saga Trilogy-type deal.

I suppose Hawke might have had cousins in Fereldan. Why not?
Also, I like the idea of a Cousland background, though obviously they'd have to be a cousin of the Cousland Warden (or the dead young noble Cousland, depending on your character choice in the first game) since sibling is out of the question (although bastard half-sibling is a possibility).
Heck, I have a Cousland male warrior from the first game who made the ultimate sacrifice (but got better for Awakening!) who I linked to a female Hawke mage in DA II. I wouldn't object to having the option of connecting that Warden to the PC in Inquisition by Cousland blood.

The PC would be human but would have an extra unique connection.

It would made sense.
Ot at least see again some of the people from Origins. We have in DA2 the Dalish's Warden Clan, and Merrill. So, it would made sense to see Shianni, or Rica, or someone else from the Origins background.
