I am having a problem with this patch so it seems... i think i was able to fix the problem with the designerscripts.rim file by doing what royshoki did but now i have a new problem: the error is not 36 anymore but 15... help. I encountered this problem on vista.

Umm yeah ok so the problem is with the designerscripts.rim file... and the patcher ran well... i think but still the game does not display any change nor any sign that it has been updated to 1.02a...
More evidence: can't use winter forge, return to ostagar, the wolf shop addon... this is getting out of hand

The bottom line is that you need to install patches on fresh original game from DVD.
When you upgrade the game from 1.02a to 1.03 you have to change a lot of files, so to make it easier you can use one of these ways:
1. Copy your saves, delete DA install it again and then install the patch.
2.(I think it's the easiest way.I used it.)
Copy all .rim files from DA:O DVD\\data\\campaign.rar\\modules\\single player\\data to
C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\modules\\single player\\data
(In my case it was C:\\Program Files\\)
And if necessary all .rim files from DA:O DVD\\data\\core.rar\\packages\\core\\data\\abilities to
C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\data\\abilities
and all .rim files from DA:O DVD\\data\\core.rar\\packages\\core\\data to
C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\data
This worked for me and I hope will work for you.
