Alistair.
I just love him! So cute, awkward, and romantic... Sigh...
Oh, and I really like Sten, too. My bestest buddy.
Him too.

Velanna is a definite favorite. Always loved her 'tude. All time favorite moment is when one is traversing through the silverite mines in the wending wood, and the ghoul is 'wearing [her] stuff-all of it".
Her tone was delightful!!!

^ I have to agree, Velanna is adorable. I found the "clowinsh ears" thing funny too
But for me, it's Morrigan. I'll be honest, I fell in love with her on my first playthrough.

But...but... there are just so many! WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME SO?! It'll be quicker to list the characters that I hate to be honest.
Post-Awakening Anders, Justice, (since forever), Oghren, Vaughn and ALL the bloody Mabari Hounds. All the rest, apart from the minoriest characters, I like/love. I think.

Alistair becuase he is dumb and people making fun of him was very funny.
"We now have a dog and Alistair is still the dumbest in the party."
Honestly, only Leliana and Wynne could use more spice, the entire Origins companions´ portfolio was awesome.

My favorite Dragon Age character is Isabela. It was great seeing a character who felt strongly about her own ideals, but at the same time, never tried to push her ideals onto others. She's also an absolute riot (especially paired up with Varric), and I love how she doesn't give a damn about what others think of her.

Loghain. Though that didn't prevent me to kill him in a lot of playthroughs (including my canon).
The others are Flemeth, Morrigan and Varric.

Isabela:
I think she's complex and has a lot of inner conflict going on. She's selfish, she acts selfishly, she preaches selfishness, but she's the type that when truly faced with people suffering, forced to confront it, she'll do the right thing, even if it goes against her own interests. Essentially, she can make the selfish choices when she doesn't have to see the consequences, but guilt overwhelms her when she does. Letting her slave cargo go, and (if she became close to Hawke and co) bringing back the book, for examples. If you rival her, she goes through a dramatic change by the end, having been persuaded that acting selfishly and whimsically - living life running away - isn't the way she wants to live her life anymore.
She has a very protective empathy of women she perceives as more vulnerable than herself, as seen with her treatment of Merrill. A lot of people say Isabela is a sexist character because of the way she acts and her sexual liberty, but its Isabela's own way of progressing women's equality. "Women can go to a brothel too." I think she deliberately tries to show that women are equal to men, not only in positive ways, but in negative ways. Equality isn't holding a group on a pedestal and showing they can be just as good as anyone else, but showing they can be just as bad too - and it shouldn't be considered any worse than if any other group did so. A lot of people are disgusted or look down upon a woman who enjoys sex, yet admire a man who does so. Isabela doesn't think the genders should be viewed so differently.
Are most people's reasons for a character being their favorite really as shallow as the character just being the most physically attractive to you? "Hot" or "cool" is all it takes for Bioware to make a "good character"? This a Final Fantasy forum?

Merrill. Mainly because I love having perpetually cheery people around and her voice is music to my ears. The huggability is also a factor.

Alistair, funny, romantic and sweet. Even when I was a male Warden he was my "bro-mance"
Zevran & Varric, my two favorite rogues and I never went anywhere without them if I could help it.
Very few I disliked but these were my top three I liked the most.
My favorite non companion was Bann Teagan.
