Varric and Alistair because they had great snarky lines that really worked well. Fantastic sense of humor and they don't take themselves too seriously.
Agreed
I also find Alistair adorably akward.

Merril - Seriously it's Merril, how could you not like her. Though I kind of imagine her to be a medival version of Tali, only crappy immune system replaced by blood magic.

Tali isn't naive like Merrill, only a bit shy and insecure.

She makes little starry-eyed bunnies and puppies look like a pile of puke (thanks Moe Syzlak for that inspiring phrase ;P).
I love her ditziness and her infallable loyalty (I never sided against her with anything, really). And the way she makes her self look pathetic, which I find helplessly endearing. Oh, also, her misguidedness, such as believing Poll to be "worldy" just because he was city born (inspite of the fact that we wasn't worldly which is why he got in trouble and fled to the Dalish). Also, BioWare had me at the way they handled her friendmance with ManHawke (though it might be the same as with FemHawke, I don't remember, and I never rivalled her nor seen a video of someone doing that).
However, I do have some other favourites. Velanna. On the surface she's a human-hating, self-centred, grouchy sour-puss, but deep down, she's passionate about what she believes, and actually does have a heart. She doesn't totally block out others - she is a little open-minded. Leliana. That voice! I could die happy listening to the way she says "succour," and despite her crazy faithfulness, she is an interesting character, even mysterious. I love how poetic and deep she can be. Varric. He can make any situation interesting, and even humourous. He can turn boring stories up to 11, and shows much humility when he's serious. And let's not forget being accepting of his flaws, not to mention accepting of other people's flaws (even liking others for them, such as Hawke). Him talking about Hawke being with Anders, for me it went "Varric, in all the time you've known me, when have I ever given you the impression that I was turned off, by crazy?" "Hmmm, good point!"
Honourable mentions for Sten, for his hilarious bluntness and often well thought out opinions; Alistair, for his whole personable personality; Zevran and Isabela, for their carefree attitudes and for being 2-dimensional on the outside, yet 3-dimensional on the inside; Morrigan, floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee, is the most fun you'll ever have making friendly jabs at someone 'cause making her angry is so damn hilarious (as opposed to Alistair who you can't help but feel bad for being mean to); and Fenris, who, inspite of his closed-mindedness, is just so much deeper than every other companion, when it comes to romance, Alistair is for the most part, coy, while Fenris has an actual problem handling love. Oh, and Oghren, because he's just so endearing in everything he does and says (especially when completely off his face).
As far as non-companions, Felsi for her hilarious quips ("Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Or better yet, do. Indulge yourself!") and the way she and Oghren play off each other. Finally, Sergeant Kylon. I love the way he talks up the Warden so indirectly. He praises you, as if he was one of your travelling companions, who has seen first hand, just how important you are to Fereldan. And Kylon's just so cynical of his job, he's hilariously realistic. Also, he isn't blind the way most every other Dragon Age character is - he's aware of problems, yet doesn't generalise them (as he says, he deals in cold, hard facts).

Yeah - I'll go with Morrigan.
Edit: Why - because she could crush your romance at the end in several different ways....private agendas...and numerous other little character quirks.

Alistair because he's adorable, and an amazing person.
Anders because I have a major bone-on for tortured healers with a cause.
It helps that they're both pretty funny.
I don't remember Anders said he was tortured, though to be fair I didn't play DAA or DA2 from a long time, so I might forgot some dialogues.

I didn't mean in the literal sense. I meant a tortured soul, like the moody, byronic heroes of trashy romance fiction.hhh89 wrote...

Reading Stolen Throne really turned my view of Loghain from "he's a really great antagonist" to "Holy balls, this is a GREAT character." But if we're just going off the games, then it's Morrigan. She can go through so much interpersonal conflict and change depending on how you interact with her and it's SOOO satisfying for me. Allistair is another favorite for me for the same reason.
I still hated Loghain after reading Stolen Throne, but I agree I found him much more intriguing. If I were to include the books in my opinion I'd say Duncan was one of my favorites. As a boy/young man he went through so much, but was so loyal to Alistair and the King. The book also totally changed my head canon of King Merric.

Loghain (because I'm a national conservatist)
Anders (because his cause is truly righteous, and he acts selflessly)
Leliana (same reasons as Morrigan really)
My Warden (because he is badass)

2)Leliana - I just found her truly touching, the accent helped,
3)Varric - Same as Alistair just not quite as good, still, it was always very hard to go out without him in the party.
