Okay, so the game will take place (mostly?) in Orlesia. Because of this I'd really want to actually play as an orlesian, not a fereldan.
The reaon I think BioWare might give us another fereldan is because so many here are annoyed by the orlesian (french) accent and will not want to play as someone with it. In Awakenings it was fine because your PC was silent. Voiced PC is already confirmed for DAIII, so I really, really hope I'll not have to play as a fereldan again. Is anyone with me on this or am I alone? Is there any other nationality you would like to play as?

It's Orlais actually..

And it won't happen. People will get annoyed and racist because they have a French accent. So instead we're stuck with an upper class English accent because that's what Americans seem to think we sound like. However, we could still be Tevinter, Free Marcher, Rivaini or maybe even from the Anderfels(?).

EDIT
What accent do people from the Anderfels have? Image IPB

Maybe you'll be an Orlesian from Ferelden.

I don't care much, though if I have to choose, I'd prefer being a Nevarran.

I like being Fereldan, though I don't like the idea of every hero coming from Ferelden. If given the option I might have to mix it up and go with Orlais. Or just do Ferelden anyway.

I wonder if we'll be a Marcher. Start with a Fereldan because that's where the first game was set, then a Fereldan fleeing to the Free Marches, so maybe a Marcher who moves (is assigned to, perhaps) to Orlais.

I don't really care that much about nationality.

Hawke never seemed to be very nationalistic beyond expressing Fereldan support whenever someone else approached the subject.

I simply want the option to have an accent I can be comfortable with. As in, a Fereldan one.

An Orlesian one would be horrible, imo.

The PC should definitely have a South African accent.

As someone who had to suffer the dreadful english accent, I hope that our main character will be from Orlais and have a french accent.

I want the protagonist to be anything but fereldan, or at least make several origin stories and only one of those is of fereldan heritage, the rest should have no ties with ferelden at all.

Well I'm totally behind this idea. Not really. That would drive me insane. xp

I don't much care really. If my character was born/raised in Orlais I'd expect them to have a French accent, and as long as it isn't TOO heavy I'll be cool with it.

As much as I hate myself for saying this, I want the posh English accent for our PC because otherwise, they could have let us play other races and still have the accent lore fit.

Actually, I believe that as of DA II all races have a different accent, so going back to english won't do a lot as far as playing as a non-human is concerned.

Don't worry, you won't have to. Its 99% to be Orlesian, which i am happy about. Besides we played Fereldan in last two games.

Dwarves and City Elves both have American accents and, my accent detector is really bad so correct me if I'm wrong, so do Kossith. Therefore, a human raised among the Qunari for example would also have an American accent.

Also, Zevran was a City Elf with an Antivan accent and Erlina an Orlesian accent, so we can deduce that in these places at least, the accent lore doesn't necessarily apply.

I'm happy with any accent.
Although I prefer it to be something other than Scottish or English.

Anderfel sounds germanic, so I reckon they'd be german.

I am really bored with the fantasy=British accent thing. The modern British accent didn't even exist in medieval or renaissance times.

I'd definitively support that.

Still, I personally hope we get a PC from Orlais (There we go) with an orlesian accent.

I agree, I think I'm tired of the PC befrom fereldan. It's mostly because of that joke that they smell like dogs, and I'm sick of hearing it.
