I have to say that, if something, I'm usually surprised to see female gamers. And not because I don't like the fact, but rather because what's normal in the world (or even common here in Bioware games, because of the "story factor"), it's not common in my country. Sure, everyone plays games now in phones and such, but I only consider "gamers" the people that use a machine dedicated for that purpose, like a console or even a PC, playing serious games (no matter if it's a RPG, RTS, or a FPS, whatever), and that is something I don't see very often around where I live, where I get the impression that gamers are considered like weird people, or just geeks, and girls here are usually not of that type, preferring to just do stuff away from machines, which would seem to be reserved to geeks. Big stereotype I'm pulling here, but well, it's what I see.
In any case, my surprise is one out of curiosity, but I would never bother a girl gamer just for that. In fact, I'll just play as if nothing happened (I don't usually even use a mic). Maybe we have a nice random game, and she adds me to have some more games, and after that we become friends, who knows. But I know that it's just a game, not a place for hanging out (something that many people don't understand), specially when your "possible dates" usually live in another country, and I hate distance relationships.
Oh, and seeing the thing of chivalry being dead talk (which is funny), for me, the concept is merely the fact of being very nice and respectful to a woman, so in my opinion, it's not dead. Though that's just my opinion, being as I am a little "old-school" in some of my views on life.
Cheers
