The PC should have a voice as neutral as possible. Female Hawke was a fairly good example of that.

Just cos you said that, your opinion is invalid.

I have spoken!

Lol.

Seriously tho, FemHawke just sounds perpetually bored. Like the VA was constantly thinking "am I done yet?" and "can I finish and be paid yet?" - honestly it bleeds through her entire performance. It's why I can not play as FemHawke at all.

I know this might be considered one of these subjective things but I am usually pretty reasonable when it comes to these things. I mean there is the whole ManShep vrs FemShep VA arguements about which is better and I think they are both awesome in their own special way.

ManHawke's performance is great. And FemHawke's performance is "bleh".

I honestly could not disagree more about the need for a PC VA to sound neutral.

FemHawke doesn't sound bored to me, or neutral. Just incredibly posh.

I'm probably not the best person to defend Jo Wyatt. I too think she could have done a better job. My point was that she didn't have a strong accent of any sort (which is probably why she sounds "posh" to some) and the tone of her voice didn't evoke any strong emotions. It was not very memorable, just normal.

That may sound boring and I wouldn't want her to be the voice of any significant NPC. Boring just happens to work extraordinarily well for the protagonist in role-playing games. Wyatt's voice doesn't dictate the personality of Hawke and that leaves more space for role-playing. I liked Nicholas Boulton as well but in his case the strong role of Vaughan in DA:O kind of worked against him.

Anyway, this is definitely about personal preferences and styles of playing. I'd just rather see Grey DeLisle as an NPC than as the PC.

This. So much this. I think she would have made an awesome FemHawke in DA2 (not the biggest fan of the VA who did Hawke...she's fine, but not really a standout to me). Would love to see AWR have a bigger role in DA3

I'm going to have to throw Sean Bean's name in. He can play an awesome villain or a conflicted hero who dies in some horrible way. Cause you know, any character Sean touches dies 9 times out of 10.

Well, if we are throwing out suggestions: Me. "Voicing a video game character" is on my acting bucket list.
Also, Nathan Fillion (for the VO job, not my bucket list... *innocent face*)

Anybody else thinking Christopher Walken? I was gonna say Tim Curry, but sadly, he already appeared in DA:O.

I got chills at the very thought of Christopher Walken doing some voice acting in the DA series!  But my hope is that Adam Howden will come back in the next installment.  I really enjoyed his work in the last one.

Sean Bean would be good, but in his native Sheffield accent.  I loved him in Game of Thrones.

I also vote for Alan Rickman.  I would love him to do a character with some humour and sarcasm.  He does it so well.

David Tennant too (but in his native Scottish accent).

I was also thinking of Matthew Macfadyen.  His voice is like chocolate - )

For me I tend to swap between Mass Effect and Dragon Age. In ME I dont like the male Shep its.just a bit too generic for me not really as animated as the lady shep. Jen Hale really batters the illusive man and you feel her disgust for him but later her pity for him

In DA2 Male Hawke was great I found and lady hawke was just very dull and not as invested as the MH actor. I could almost imagine him sitting there thinking........"Right how would I feel if some loony killed my mother".

My choice for a future protagonist

Rupert Penry Jones

Natalia Cigliuti- Female Protagonist

Adam Leadbeater- Male Protagonist

Both have proven their skills in past Bioware games, both sound very good and distinct, and both possess the range of emotion and tone to bring to multiple personalities.

Dave Fennoy should voice a qunari in the next game. He's got a deep qunari voice and he did Warlord Okeer in ME2, so he's worked with Bioware before.

Its a funny old world as i found the male Hawke voice actor sounded really bored with it. As result i got bored with him quit the game and went back to Jo Wyatt and never looked back. So its her i would love to have back more than one else.Coming in second place would be the VA for Okeer.

Roger Craig Smith. He did awesome with Ezio's voice in Assassin's Creed, I imagine he could do a sweet French accent if needed.

Well there's Liquid Snake, Grunt/Wilson(ME)/Spike Spiegal, Frank - N - Furter/Prince of Darkness, Captain Janeway, and Kain running around getting into all types of trouble in Thedas.

Christopher Lee NEEDS to voice SOMEONE. A villain, mentor, companion (my personal favorite. seeing him as a Wynne like character), hell maybe even a major NPC like the Archon of Tevinter, the Black Divine, the leader of the templars or I dunno Flemeth's sugar daddy. SOMETHING PLEASE!!!
