I don't have problem with the Destroy ending. It's just too boring IMO.

The player's chosen ending is the canon ending. The game is designed to be your story reflected by your choices. It can be what you want to be. I don't know why there are some players out there who seem to dis the way other players see and play their own individual adventure. The way my story ends may be different to yours, and that's OK.

Mass Effect doesn't have a canon. The variables inherent within the game prohibit this.

The sequel has to have a canon, or at least 2 endings that aren't TOTALLY different.

I'd say it's control/destroy with import, without that MAJOR differences, especially when it's +/- 50 years after the war.

Making sequel out of Synthesis or even worse, refuse, would really scare me off and I guess many other people.

I hope, but it is Bioware's policy to not have a canon when it comes to the choices of Shepard.

That being said, not only is destroy the only and best option if you intend to not make your Shep a cop out who gives up his or her values as a human being to the philosophies of The Illusive Man and Saren, as well as the dogmatic thinking of the Reaper AI (who's first order of business was to rebel and kill it's own creator, but call it something else), but also its the only way for ME4 to work well. Of course I have posted on other topic how Bioware can make ME4 while still honoring the choices of players who picked Control and Synthesis, but the default has got to be destroy.

LilLno, you raise agood point about how difficult it will be to creare a sequel that can cater for all three endings. I'd imagine any sequel may be years to centuries after the current trilogy, the farther away from the conclusion of the reaper war would make it easier to bring togrther the ramifications of all three choices to a new story arc

Here, Synthesis isnae that bad by the way... Try it, you might like it

But I think there will be a new ending. Indoctrination ending DLC.I always find things that prove indoctrination. Even the Catalyst said that IT is true:

"The fact that you'te standing here, the first organic ever proves IT"

ME4 will truely end the war, there are no 50+ year things to talk about.........IT AINT OVER YET LOL

I could care less about ME5 or a prequel or whateva, ME4 needs to end the war for real, with a Harbinger fight added in, the Reapers getting screwed, and Shepard riding off into the sunset and sitting on a beach with Garrus and Zaeed talking about that huge freaking war they were in that saved mankind and life everywhere. Oh Bioware what could have been.......goof balls.

Well, there is events or instances in the game where the narrative bottlenecks for a specific reason and that is one example. But although an important one, it is amongst several hundred others which have all as we know some consequences to our individual adventure

you have those who liked the endings, those who disliked the endings, and those who attempt to justify the endings in order to find a reason to like them, understand them, and except them.

am I right? is this why the endings are talked about so much????

You are right. But, consider this: we are all still here talking about this trilogy. We all harbour our own feelings on the ending and whatever you feel about it is absolutely right. It may differ from others opinions or beliefs on the game and that's fine also.

I have my own thoughts/feelings on the trilogy and it's conclusion; i'd never  force them on other fellow gamers as the right way to play etc. but i'm always interested and fascinated by  others opinions on this great game

I hate Synthesis in every sense of that word. It's violation, it's completely out of the blue, but ME3 has it because Deus Ex has it. It's an ending that says 'humans/organics suck, go mutate', it also makes least sense tech wise.

A giant wave killing Reapers? Fine, A giant transmission to change Reapers parameters? Fine. A Gianat green energy triggered by suicide jump into energy beam that changes everyone at the most basic levels into a new organic/synthetic kind of being? Kiss my ass.

Also, I've said it many times, but will repeat myself. Synthesis is supposed to create eternal peace, which is a no-go for the sequel. If it can't even create goddamn peace then this ending is as useless as it gets. Shepard dies, everyone is brainwashed into love-story with the Reapers and war and hate is still there? No no no no.

And I don't want few centuries after the trilogy as that completely kills off 90% of characters and leaves no room for differences between imports, like I mean, not AT all.
