Will DA3 be an adventure game like DA:O or it just a drama like DA2?

What i like about DA:O is the adventure, no matter what origin i started with, it will be an adventure. I give examples

- A Dalish Elf girl who her life all this time is in the wild, with her clan and boyfriend, she know nothing of outside world, something happened that make her get out from the wild, joining the Grey Warden, going into human land and dwarven kingdom.

- A girl of nobility who her life is so boring in her castle, but fate decree that her family being butchered and then she become a Grey Warden venturing into foreign land and find a way to take a revenge.

In DA:O there are many places with it's own history, background and problems, as in vanilla :
1. Lothering - a small town where survivors of Ostagar hang out to and recently having bandit problem
2. Denerim - the capital of Ferelden, have market, shops, castle, chantry, estates, Back Alley, abandoned building, fort, Alienage, have a lot of quests, many types of peoples, final battle happen here
3. Redcliff - a town where recently have undead problem, have castle, inn, underground passege, a lot of characters, there is epic batlle happen here depend on choice
4. Orzamar - the capital of dwarves, a majestic place, interesting, have inn, shops, proving ground, palace, deep roads, many characters, worth exploring
5. Brecilian Forest - a mysterious forest where Dalish Elf hangout, have werewolves, talking tree, a mad guy, have mysterious ruin with mysterious background, a lot of traps, have legendary revenants
6. Haven - a secluded place where the people are odd, have ancient ruins that are a temple and a tomb of Andraste, have underground caves full of heretics and dragons, have high dragon
7. Circle Tower - the place where mages live, currently have uprising problem, interesting and mysterious
8. The Fade - a dream world and a puzzle

Edit : oops, forgot to mention Ostagar, the place where an epic fail battle taken place, have interesting characters to meet with, have forest full with darkspawn, meeting a nutty old woman and her daughter, the epic Joining with Duncan killing Ser Jory, tower of Ishal, fighting epic Orge...

DLC provide more places and backstories

Each places have their own stories, plots and quests, where the player will explore, investigate, satisfy the curiosity, learning things, learning cultures, learing histories, meet many different peoples/creatures, many things to be found and it never get boring at least for me...

DA2 is a drama, boring one, the player see the very same people at the very same place. yes there is ruins and travelling but not worth it, not to mention the copy and paste maps. The story also focused on Kirkwall and Kirkwall problem. The battle is also not epic, unlike DA:O have many epic battles. If someone say dueling with Arishok is epic, for me it is not, it just a duel. And we also can choose not to duel but royal rumble instead. being a Champion is not as epic as being Hero of Ferelden. The final battle with Meredith is also not epic like DA:O final battle, clearly it have no emotion at all.

So, i have a doubt being the Inquisitor will reach the same level of epicness as being the Hero of Ferelden.

No multiple race origins. Possible multiple origins. Will go to multiple places and own a castle apparently.

I vehemently disagree that the duel with the Arishok wasn't epic, but I do agree with you that DA2 lacked the feel of a big fantasy adventure at times. We traded werewolves and 52 flavours of darkspawn for endless street gangs. That's not to say DA2 was adventure-less, but at times it was adventure-deprived.

Now this … this is a terrible duel.

I cn't say DA2 is an adventure...when we got out from Kirkwall we only going to specified place with no backstory at all or little backstory

1. Bone Pit
2. Sundermount
3. Wounded Coast
4. some places where certain quest involved and cannot return to

Yes we explore those places but just that, we don't dwell in it. When we explore Brecillian Forest we do dwell in it, when we saw a talking tree that is something you know, there is no such thing in DA2, no such feeling

There is quite a backstory to Sundermount and the Bone Pit, and there were also areas in DAO where you could not return like the Fade.

In case you play as mage Origin you visit the fade in your Origin story and you also know Niall who dies at the end and what makes it more tragic.

The concept was epic, but in reality I spent 90% of that duel running around pillars.

They could have used the Chanter's board for more small quests, each of which could have given us a little more background into either the city or the inhabitants, instead of the Fedex jobs.

As far as the Arishok duel, I would have loved to have the option to say, after he challenges me to a duel, that he is not worthy of a duel with me. Instead of just saying no duel.

Like i mention, we don't dwell in it. We go to Sundermount, meet with Merill, meet the nutty old woman, killing some monsters, then back to the city. the same with other quests in DA2, going to the place, killing some crazy people, back to the city.

But in DA:O, when you go to Orzamar, you dwell in Orzamar. Explore the exterior, the interior, Diamond Quarter, proving ground, the market place, king palace, Dust Town, Deep Roads, Old Thaigs,....fighting in proving, going into carta base killing Jarvia, into deep road seeing Archdemon flying, meet Legion of the Dead, meet broodmother, activate the magic site seeing pride demon, seeing four face machine that spit green thing, meet Branka and Caridin...

If you to Brecilian Forest, you dwell in it...exploring the area, Dalish camp, the first section of forest meeting with talking werewolf, darkspawn, walking trees, talking tree who have acorn problem, mystery camp who have a shade tricking people, the second section contain a crazy hermit who steal the acorn, walking trees, Danyla, Orge, revenant and undeads, third section there is ancient ruin full of undead and traps, have dragon, arcane horror, crazy spirits who lost each other, meet a trapped spirit who was Arcane Warrior, meet Witherfang...

Even the Fade have many sections, yes we cannot return to the Fade but within the Fade we can jump from island to island and figure out how to get out. We meet many characters, Nial, the dreamers, including our own companions.

DA2 certainly had adventure, though not as much as DA:O

You're using a rather arbitrary and vague meaning of the word though.

That was my initial thought as well. Origins certainly has more locations and more locations will inevitably mean that there will be a larger number of stories as each area or location will generally have one. That being said, while there were certainly less locations in DA2 there was plenty of lore and backstory in that game as well.

As for the epic battles, that's again very much a question of definition. I don't recall too many battles in Origins that would qualify as epic--most of them were more or less the run of the mill battles that you would expect in a war, and rightfully so. The final battle against the archdemon was, in my opinion, epic because it was a battle where everything was at stake and it was riding on whether you won or lost.

The claim that the battle with the Arishok in DA2 wasn't epic...I disagree. The fate of Kirkwall more or less depends on the outcome of that fight and with stakes that high the battle becomes epic to me. Same goes for the battle with Meredith at the end, the stakes makes it epic.

Now as for whether DA3 will be an "adventure" or a "drama"...I'll say both, because I expect both adventure and drama to be present, as with the past two games.

So...i wonder, what is there in Orlais to venture anyway?

Cities, towns and villages?

Will it be like Ferelden?

Or it just one city like Kirkwall?

As I see it?  That all depends on just how inspired they were by Skyrim.

Well, it looks like we'll be travelling around Thedas a fair bit, so the adventure aspect will be in it. As for the rest, who knows.

I'm glad there wasn't an Orzammar equivalent in DA 2, that and Arl Howe's estate are what made me toss my hands up and be like "f this" the first time I played Dragon Age, I came back later and loved the rest of the game but that was after I had already did DA 2 and got the ultimate edition. You say dwell I say "how the frick do I get out of here and for the love of god we just got through with one dark spawn ambush, what the hell!"

I always get lost in the Fade for hours in DA:O, sometimes I can't tell if I've doubled back on myself at the wrong time lol.

Oh yeah, the truly epic duel with the Arishok that you spend the entire time running away from him and occasionally attacking.

I can say the same about DA2..."why the hell i am staying in this cursed city, and from where those bandits come from? Where are the guards???!!!"

bandits, shades, bandits, shades and more bandits and more shades

All i know about Orlais is Val Rayoux, so i think that will be the main city, the biggest and the most important.

Others maybe just so-so places. but there must be a  Dwarves section in Val Rayoux and Qunari base and Dalish Camp somewhere in the forest...some caves, some ruins and the Fade

The Arishok duel was epic. My Assassin Duelist rogue had a great deal of fun taking him out. The duel with the Rock Wraith was fun and epic. The High Dragon battle was better than the High Dragon and Flemeth battle in DAO. DA2 had both adventure and drama. I expect them both in a crpg.

The battle with the Arch Demon was not epic, more of a cakewalk. The battle with Loghain was more fun. The battle with Gaxkang was good. I had fun with both games.

Adventure does not just require going to different places. BG 1 time was spent a great deal in one city. DAO lacked the drama that DA2 had. I had more fun in DA2 doing the personal companion quests than DAO. DAO's companion quest really (IMHO) not that much fun. But, YMMV.

The battle with Stone Wraith is not epic, no one witness it, and it is Varric story, and he is known love to exaggerate, maybe it doesn't even happening.

Duel with Arishok? Yes there are few witness, and it happen in a closed room. Arishok himself is not grand enemy in my opinion, anyone could duel him and win, it is not a "against all odds like killing an Archdemon" thing

High Dragon is epic animal/creature, to kill a dragon is epic, the Warden sell the dragonscale making it an armor is something great. Kill the High dragon, make it's bone own armor. it is worth the feeling.

Flemeth is legendary figure, all fear her, the Witch of The Wild who eat children and steal people body, killing Flemeth is epic.

Apparently the levels in DA3 will be bigger than all of DA2. (I presume that means the size of the environments/areas that we'll visit), so we'll have plenty of room to explore, if nothing else.

I totally agree. I found it lame that we'd find something in DA II just lying around in some ruin and we'd automatically know exactly who to bring it to. Is Hawke supposed to be gifted with psychometry?

Mass Effect 3 handled these fetch quests well: Shepard overhears a conversation and a side-quest is made available.
