Played Giant/Cerberus/Silver last night with a friend and two randoms. A few seconds into wave 1 we realize that only I and one of the randoms can see the enemies, while the other two  three can neither see or hear them. (In later waves they are able to see atlases and dragoons but none of the other enemies.) Instead of quitting we decide to stick it out since we have consumables equipped.

We set up camp on top of the control room ramp instead of running and gunning and I try my best to call out where the enemies are ("they're coming across the left side of the open area/there's a turret in behind the second table/HOLY CRAP a phantom is RIGHT ON TOP OF US!" etc.) so my friend can shoot his Falcon in the general vicinity. As the seeing-eye Asari Vanguard, I charge the mooks within eyesight of my team so the others know where the enemies are. I try to prioritize the phantoms and engineers/turrets. The other blind player is a Vorcha, so he follows me around, hosing me down with fire to help kill the enemies surrounding me. Meanwhile, the fourth player, a Destroyer, protects/revives everyone. We had two hack circles and one assassination objective. In the end, I get killed by a phantom with 5 seconds left to extraction but everyone else makes it out alive.

I was really proud of how a semi-bunch of strangers pulled together to get the job done under less than ideal circumstances. It was ridiculous (and, I'm sure, frustrating for the blind players) but we earned our credits! I should have written down the randoms' GT's so I could friend them. If you're reading this: YOU ROCK!

TL;DR: Giant/C/S, two 3 blind players, partial extraction anyway, PUGs are awesome. Also, what the heck is this glitch?

Hopefully the devs won't get ideas for new challenges! "For this match, one of your teammates will be blind/reduced to half speed/perpetually out of ammo, etc. Keep him alive!" We did feel a bit pleased with ourselves afterward.

After reading the other (depressing) thread about the way female gamers are treated it was nice to immediately have a match where the others had no issue with my gender, even though we were put into a situation where I was sometimes ordering them around.

I had this problem once. Being a blind paladin all I could do was snap-freeze in every direction and throw down my shield in front of players during objective waves. It did NOT end well.

It's less a female problem than a "difference" problem, I find.
In female-dominated communities, men get the same shabby treatment from the minority, but worse due to simply being men, and in the eyes of some people, not being worthy of help because of that. While ME's community is male dominated - the idea applies across the board. (And let's not get into gender, sexuality, and fetish issues)

So, simply put - you encountered the majority. The normal people. :wizard:

What's even funner is being a blind Infiltrator using a Sniper Rifle.

Big fun.

Similar has happened to me with reapers once. Only one teammate could see or hear husks, brutes and ravagers. We were being melee staggered all over, was brutal. It was gold/giant, they guy who could see luckily had a Scorpian and used that to direct us where to shoot and we extracted in the end! A lot of fun too.

Sorry to hear it! Did your teammates know you couldn't see?

I've run into invisible enemies as well and ... well to put it simply life's too short for that sort of frustration. *lol*

Yeah, I haven't had much of a problem. In ~1500 games I've only had one guy try to kick me for being female (the other two voted to kick HIM and he left) and another guy who awkwardly quoted "O blue rose of Ilium" at my Asari Justicar. Most of the time I keep quiet for the first PUG match until the scoreboard shows my teammates I can pull my weight and after that they seem to accept me ok.

This was extra nice because the team had just wiped on Rio against Collectors in wave 9, and instead of quitting in disgust they stuck around. Very tenacious, this team!

You guys are amazing. We would have died on Gold, no question.

I don't know what causes it, but it's wasted a lot of my equipment. I'm not going to leech off of a match that I can't see enemies on, and it's usually the second wave before I see my shield/barrier being damaged without an enemy being present.

I've also lately been noticing a lot of popping-in of enemies... I'll be shot first, turn around, see nothing, get shot again, and then the enemy is visible. I'm not sure what the glitch is, but I wonder if the two are tied together.

One of the more interesting MP-related stories I've heard recently. Congrats! When I encountered invisible enemies, I just quit, sometimes without telling people what was the problem.

I remember a salarian who revived me around four times on Condor, and then I quit on him.

Now this is exactly how it should be, a fun and exiting experience to all. I usually try to have fun and don´t mind about randoms but I understands why some player are frustrated by players who obviously can´t handle the difficulty. You had randoms that had semi-good talent but the ones that do not have any are the ones I talked about.

On the topic again, good post and very well written! Good job Shinobu.

Yes that is a handicap. I've had it as well. I just fire in a general direction. I ended up quitting the game though as i was handicapping the team too much.

Has this only started happening recently or have I just been lucky until now?

Earlier in the day I had a teammate that was only visible to me as a floating omnitool.

If you have a mic, you could try letting him know your difficulties and seeing if he's willing to call out enemies. It worked ok. Though if it happened to me (not being able to see) I would probably quit as well.

Thanks! It was exciting, all right! The randoms were fairly low N7 rankings also, somewhere around 150, IIRC, so they acquitted themselves extremely well.

Wow, seeing what blind players go through, I wouldn't have the tenacity to stick to it. You guys are amazing.

Now that you mention it, it's possible the Destroyer couldn't see either (he never spoke). It was the first and only time I've outscored my team by 5X-- I thought of taking a pic and teasing my friend with it later: "OMG, I had to carry you -- it's like you guys were BLIND or something!" Then I thought that would just be too mean. They were really good sports.

I've had something similar. It's happened in an annoying number of matches now. The shuttle won't leave, I won't be able to go into cover, and every enemy but phantoms will be visible. I won't notice until at some point in a later wave, I'll drop dead for no apparent reason, and nothing will be in the killfeed.
