What's going on with all the Hudson praise here?

We have absolutely no idea if the game is awesome because of his contribution or despite of it!!
We don't know him and how he shaped the game.

The only thing what we really know is what he publicly says. And that is rather often deflective, misleading exageration or even lying.

Why are you jumping to these positive conclusions here?

I'm not saying we should jump to a negative conclusion either, but people, stop being so naive, please.

He's the executive producer. That means he's one of the main people we can aim both our appreciation and criticism towards. It's not being naïve, it's just the way it works. By your logic, we can't really thank anyone at BioWare unless we know exactly how they left a mark on the final product

Casey Hudson deserves some of the criticism he's getting, but he also deserves a measure of commendation for his hard work. You don't have to thank him, no one can demand you to do so, but there's nothing wrong with some of us being grateful either. I strongly disliked the ending, but hey, I had tons of fun before that - and not least with the two previous games as well. So for that, I sincerely thank Mr. Hudson :)

How do you feel it's out of place? The way I see it, he spent years on this - it's been a much bigger part of his life than it will ever be to any of us :)

This whole thanking each other after a monetary transaction is a little weird

Well, he's stressing the inspiration the fans have been. Which is funny considering that they took out RPG in the second game against the wish of most fans, made it autodialog in the third etc. etc. Not sure where that inspiration came from...

Regardless of whatever butthurt may remain from some of the fanbase, it's hard to argue that amount of work and effort put into making these games that have influenced the industry is staggering.

Cool Story, Hud. :P

Casey Hudson is a legend, and I cannot wait for his next game.

Yeah let's not give him more credit than he deserves. A team of people brought Mass Effect to life.

I still respect him for previous titles, but not ME3. I'm not pointing all the blame on him, but I wish they took more time with the title because to me, it seemed like "a few" were in a hurry to get the series over with.

Hey buddy, not everyone will like everything that Bioware sends out and they will give credit where they feel it is deserved.

You're welcome, Hudson.

Now, how about you promote your next game with, y'know, the truth, rather than making statement after statement filled with outright lies and fabrications. It'd be refreshing.

Marketing aside, I don't blame Casey for disappearing, I think the majority of us would have done the same thing.

The guy is supremely talented and a class act. Hate all you want, but this universe exists because of him, and for that I am appreciative.

Casey seems like a really nice guy. He shouldn't be thanking us, we should be thanking him. Regardless of how you feel about ME3, he gave us one of the greatest sci-fi trilogies of all time. I have spent literally hundreds of hours playing these three games and I don't regret a second of it.

Ah, yes, now I see what you mean. I imagine he's grateful because there's been so much interest in these games that he helped create - just because we bought the games, doesn't mean we're required to be as passionate about it as many of us are, which is only a nice compliment to the people behind them :) that's why it didn't occur to me that someone else prompted him to write those words. But whether there were other motives behind it, I can't say. I guess I just choose to be an optimist and refrain from thinking about the PR angles.

I give a polite 'Thank you' after buying something as trivial as a bus fare ticket. It's more out of politeness than a deep-felt sincereness, but it's there. This is something more, though: judging from these forums, many fans consider it more than just an apathetic business transaction like a bus fare ticket. Is it so odd that at least some of the developers do the same? :)

So agreeing with this.  I have spent so much time playing this series, and love it.  No other game has been able to draw me in like ME.  Can't wait for the next game, and will be buying for sure.  Thanks BW, thanks to all on the ME team.  Image IPB
