Do what you did in DA II, but add a bit of undress if you have the zots for it.
It always felt so diconcerting for me. All you saw was them going to "make love." How do we know they didn't get into an argument or have some sort of dispute before the love-making actually began? Sure, there's the after conversation, but they could easily just have agreed to forget all about the dispute, and that it ever happened.
Also, I expected DA2 to show how BioWare has improved on those kind of scenes, after seeing how poor the ones in Origins was done.

I've never really seen the point of adding dating sim elements to games (nor do I see a real point for the existence of that genre of gameplay), other than attempting to exploit the "sex sells" angle
Because romance is an element of storytelling. It's an element of life in general. It's in movies, books, comics, tv shows, and games. If we're playing a game where we're assuming the role of a character -- our character -- and living his/her life, romance between some of the characters in our group of companions is needed.
I'd find it unrealistic for the option to not be present and having us just relegated to playing celibate heroes who go on a journey from anywhere ranging from one year to seven in-game.
That's not to say it should be the primary focus. Rather, it should be a secondary concern, once the story is more or less done. And that's not to say I think Bioware is making it the primary focus.
But romance should be in roleplaying games, IMO. Provided there's some depth to it and it isn't just sex for the sake of it.
When done right, romance can add to a story. Especially if the romance is on some level linked to the story. In addition, romance can show you some things about characters you might not see otherwise -- as is true for our world.
Unless there's a damn good reason for why the character we're playing as is just having sex for the sake of it. Like Kratos. He had various sexual escapades as a means to temporarily forget the horrors he unknowingly committed against his own family.
I found that to be a damn good reason for it being in there storywise.
For this to truly be trying to convey the "sex sells" image, well... there would have to be a minigame with various women where you see your character boning some woman (or man). Literally, you can actually make them go in and out and moan various things.

I don't mind the fade to black part, what did bother me was Anders scene after were both of them were fully clothed. Imo we should have had a scene more like Merrill's at this point. Fenris and Isabella made sense, as they both bolt the room, but Anders come on? Those with male love interrest in DAII saw no skin on either romance option!
It was a zot question. Anders does not have a standard human male body model. Neither does Fenris have a stand elven maæe. So make a version which would be used in 30 seconds or so was simply not affordable.

The skin colour looked extremely strange, with an odd tinge to it, as well as the bodies looking very blocky. They need to work on the design of peoples bodies a little more if they are planning on showing them I think.

There is a difference between adding romance into a game, and adding dating sim elements. What Bioware tends to do is normally okay. What some fans want (romance DLC...?!) is more along the lines of what I hope to avoid in future games.
Personally I feel that unless it adds something to the story and characters, it's better off being left out. I don't really like the idea of it being added for the sake of it, where no effort is put into it and it sticks out like a sore thumb, like in Skyrim.

Yeah I think that's a fair set of requests. Apart from maybe the bed sheets. I hear that sort of thing is kind of hard to animate, but I heard it from a friend of a friend, I don't really know about technology or anything.

If you're going to show sex, I'd go with this approach www.youtube.com/watch (1:50).
Legs are always nice.

- Don't use wierd lip physics with the kissing animations like ME3 did, it makes the game too much uncanny valley
- Have tasteful nudity - like Mass Effect 1 did.
- Underwear looks soooooooo awkward when it's forced on love scenes :S
- Animate bed sheets! Then you can hide the nudity without having silly underwear to cover it all up!
- Obviously, don't do anything voyeuristic, it's tacky and looks dumb we are all adults here, we don't need to be pandered to with that kind of thing.
- Absolutely focus on the romance, maybe add little character movements that are specific to them. Say a character loves flowers, then in the scene, they put a flower in their lovers hair or something like that - make it feel emotional.
- if you can't evoke emotional reactions in these scenes, don't have them. Cut them. Kiss and fade to black instead.
Agree. I LOVE the romance in ME1. Hated the underwear. Good lighting, good music, romance and some dialogue, a little funny, a little sweet, a lot romantic.
