Elhanan: Out of all of those, I've only seen Serenity and Sunshine. And Sunshine was surprising (it looked great, IMO) but there was a loop hole or two that detracted too much from the main plot for me if I remember correctly.
And Serenity... I saw that when I was in HS. And I don't remember ANY of it now. But I remember not really getting what was going on. Maybe you had to have seen Firefly, or at least had a general understanding of it to get into the flow of Serenity.
I am a fan of Danny Boyle and Joss Whedon, though. But I think that's what made Sunshine disappointing. I know I have to give Firefly>Serenity another chance, though. As I'm a huge fan of every other show Whedon has turned out.
But oh gosh. Anything with Michael Caine, I'm there. I definitely need to see his FIRST film ever.
And Suspense. Oh..... Alan Arkin is fantastic. Nuff said. I need to check this out.
Endurium: Kingdom of Heaven(the director's cut specifically) is so underrated, its sick. Such a fantastic movie. With a really underrated cast. I'm not a big fan of Orlando Bloom, but he plays the perfect, obedient and loyal to his country, BLANK knight... well, perfectly in my eyes. And I have to mention David Thewlis. Who was just not given enough screen time in the theatrical cut. If you were a fan of his character, you need to check out the director's cut so that you fully understand his end. (Not really a spoiler..) And two last words on this subject: Edward Norton.
Skellimancer: I watched that link... And it looks amazing for the year it was made?? Like geeze. Adding this to my big list.
Lucy_Glitter: Agreed. X2. Can you say pool scene is one of the best horror movie scenes of the 10 years? I can.
Lord Abrasion: I don't know where I'm going to find all these movies. But I gotta :x I'm going to have a busy month.
MerinTB: Dark City -amazing. Again, director's cut plz. I saw the original cut when I was little, then the director's just recently. We got it on bluray. But in the theatrical version, everything is explained to you in the first 5 minutes. I'm not a dumb, oblivious audience. That just annoyed me. Go for the director's cut if you actually want to be surprised by a film. Performances are great in this too, btw.
And Time Crimes... haha, if this is what I think it is, I don't get it. My boyfriend made me watch this. Rented it from blockbuster. This is the scifi spanish film, right??? Crazy pink face bandages aside... The ending did trip me out a bit lol. Probably have to rewatch this to fully understand the chronology.
I'll have to look into all of the others you named. Again, being added to my big list.
Squiggles: Never even heard of that, but you said Alien, so I'm thinking it might be up my alley. :>
PLATY!! If anyone has not seen this, they deserves to get torn apart by rabbits.
Now, I've been reminded of a couple more recommendations myself.
2001: A Space Odyssey .... How did I forget?
The Prestige (or any Chris Nolan

* The Andromeda Strain - excellent Sci-Fi by Michael Crichton, though not an action flic.
* 13th Warrior - same author many years later, and my fave Antonio Bandaras film.
* Dragonslayer - best drake on film ever, IMO. Sir Ralph Richardson is well cast.
* Greystoke - Ian Holmes, Sir Ralph Richardson, Andie McDowell (although her voice was dubbed for some rather silly reason), and Christoper Lambert.
* Braveheart - for me, Clan Campbell (w/ Brendan Gleeson) are almost the picture perfect Dwarves; just a bit taller than most.

I've got a question for those of you who've seen The haunting: have you seen the original? If you ever get the chance to watch it, I recommend you watch it alone... late at night... with all the lights turned off. I can almost guarantee you'll be wondering what's lurking in the shadows afterwards.

And Braveheart, I just watched that last week. Despite the hugeeeeee historical inaccuracies(Its Mel Gibson, how could I expect anything less than hugely historically inaccurate) It was great...
Its such a romantic take on things, how could I not love it? A people totally at the will of another more powerful, being seemingly helpless, in despair basically, but then gaining courage and drive enough to admit it as that, and go out and change it. Really was a great film.
And I haven't seen either Haunting... Sadly. I haven't seen SO many movies.

- Ben-hur(1959): Old movie, but the chariot race in the end is epic
- Hard Boiled (Lashou Shentan): Proves 2 things: 1- pre-holywood John Woo made better movies and 2- Chow Yun Fat+shotgun=God. Best action movie i've ever seen
- The burbs: One of the best comedies i've ever seen, with a very young Tom Hanks
- Once Upon a Time in the West: A western with Charles Bronson, directed by Sergio Leone, music by Enio Morricone. Need i say more?
- Gone in sixty seconds (1974): The original movie. With a 40 minute chase, and NO impossible CG jumps, this one owns the remake any day.
- Mad Max (all 3 of them): I'll admit. I am a Fallout fan, and this movies (especially the second) are all great.
- The Duel: Steven Spielberg first movie. A man in a car is chased by a truck driven by an unknown crazy driver. Simple but awesome.
- Terminator 2: Even after 19 years, this one is still the best in the series.
- Blade Runner: Love it. (And Deckard IS a replicant, lol)
- Back to the Future (all of them): I still remember waiting for almost 10 years to the completion of the series.
- Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: SUPERB job by Robert de Niro.
- Rocky(1976): According to my father, the only movie where a man is allowed to cry at the end
- Jurassic Park: I'm still amazed that this movie was made back in 1993. The effects are better than most today's movies.
-Old Boy: Few movies managed to get my mouth hanging open at the end. This one did.
- Plan 9 from outer Space: Yes, probably the worst movie ever made, but it's so bad it's fun to watch with friends ^^
- Schindler's List: I never tought that a simple candle light could be so beautiful.
- The world's fastest Indian(2005): I didn't knew Burt Munro untill i watched this movie and learned of his amazing character. plus the acting of Anthony Hopkins is marvelous, as always.
- Ghost Ryder: I'm not very into Superhero movies, But how can you not like a 7ft tall leather-clad flaming skeleton, armed with a chain, a shotgun and riding a Harley?
- Tora! Tora! Tora!: One of the few WW2 movies that is not a 2 hour american war propaganda. Japanese and americans are showed as mighty warriors clashing on a battlefield called Pacific Ocean.
- Forrest Gump: What can i say? I love this "Life stories" kind of movies ^^
- Alien (1979): Scary back then, scary today, probably scary forever.
- Tremors: A simple B horror movie with Kevin Bacon. Nice and simple movie to watch on a rainy day.
- Porky's : If you liked American Pie, know that this one is it's master.
- American Grafitti: The first of those "one night" movies. Sooo nice to see Harrison Ford, Richard Dreifuss and many others very young actors.
- BeetleJuice: I swear, i never thought that Michael Keaton could pull off such a funny character.
- The number 23: First time i watched i was like: Is THAT Jim Carrey?? @_@ wow...
-Titanic: Watch the whole movie on youtube:
Those are the ones i can remember, maybe i'll add others later.
PS: I won't point Lord of The Rings because i made the mistake of reading the books before watching the movie. So, the movies felt incomplete to me (despite the sheer size). Oh, and to the ones who read the books: Is it just me or Robin Williams was born to be Tom Bombadil?

Yes, I have that on the Blu-ray edition, and it's a nice improvement over the theatrical release. Great movie all around. Natacha Atlas also sings in it (soundtrack) and I've always liked her.ThessalyCousaland wrote...
