So they should ignore other media?

a) No reason to believe they'll take any notice.
B) My suggestion is, let someone else work on it.

Well, I don't really think a prequel would be really interesting. But a sequel is quite an hazardous territory as well. There are 3 different endings wich end up dividing the whole fandom, while destroy seems to be the most favoured one, there are many people who still like synthesis and control, and no matter wich story path you choose, there will be people butthurt because their favourite ending wasn't chosen as canon. But then again, destroy is an ending that open more paths then the other endings. In destroy the galaxy is left to fend off for themselves. It's up to each species to defend their own interests. While in the other endings, the reapers would just show up and fix any problem that emerges.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the best thing you can do for the franchise right now is to let it rest for a couple of years.

Not that they'll ever do that but it is my suggestion.

This.  The Mass Effect universe is big enough for more than one studio to use it as a sandbox.  And besides, at some point, even the best storytellers start running out of steam (and ideas.)  Especially in video game development, which is almost always grueling in triple-A titles.

Give it a rest and let someone else have a crack.  New minds bring a breath of fresh air and new ideas to the table.  A refusal to relinquish the IP to someone else's control, while understandable, can also stifle the franchise.

No First Contact. Everyone and their mom knows how that one plays out.

Do something bold and write about the early Council races' conflicts or something like it without any humans in the setting, so there won't be any of the "humens r spechul" horses**t that pretty much made the trilogy jump the shark.

More character growth and development, Make the protagonist grow, learning from experiences, having opinions about it you can voice, know that the game affected the protagonist, instead of being a brick.

Maybe next time don't make an ending that crumples the entire series into a little ball and throws it into the incinerator. Idiots.

oh come on, like the endings thread they were listening and wanting feedback for that was a 200+ page thread of genuine suggestions from us fans.............it's a way to sugar coat some fans back in the hope you forget the travesty of what they did to ME3......there not after suggestions because mac&casey will seize control and dictate the endings/story.

They shouldnt need suggestions, the last 7 months on this forum has had alot of amazing suggestions they could use so let them search here instead.

My honest suggestion - really no hate intended - is for Casey Hudson to be involved as little as possible in ME4's writing. But it doesn't matter anyway, since even the best of the best writers on this planet could at max produce a mediocre plot that follows the ME3's endings in any logical sense.

basically this, but with a pinch of hate.

they pay the writers to write, the producers to produce.

never met the guy, but id bet he was a pretty big ego. or hes an awesome dude trying to take the fall for ME3s ending. id bet on the former becasue bioware is mean to me!

Yes, I know there are other threads with this or a similar topic, but still I wanted to put my own thoughts out there.

And still, people are not reading my first sentence and are complaining about the current trilogy or how it was executed when this wasn't the point of this thread at all.

I tried to put together an organized list of thoughts without making it TOO long (yes at first glance it looks like a wall of text).

I'm hoping that even some of these ideas would work.

Comments on my own suggestions is welcome also, but please quote the part of my original post that you want to discuss so I know to respond appropriately!

Well I hope for a sequel and to keep the action rpg that mass effect has always been and do not change that. Also I was thinking they should to a rachni wars type scenario (not the actual rachni wars though). Like they open up a mass relay and something horrible comes out. My thought is bioware should stay true to its roots with fighting a horrible force and gathering allies to fight it

Last time I checked everyone died so you need a VERY powerful necromancer...

Keep the action based based RPG, get a new protagonist and squad, and bring out a new conflict. These are the ingredients of a new, good ME game. Also the game should definitely take place after the Reaper threat and should not be a direct sequel. However, the Reaper war should be referenced frequently.

Have it set in the post-Reaper War, with either Control or Destroy as canon. It can be based around the species chafing under the rule of an increasingly draconian or distant (depending on the direction the plot is facing) Shepard or in a time of political strife and bickering in the raw new order being cobbled together afterward, respectively.

The game would focus more on real exploration and the plot as a whole than it would the characters, a la FO:NV. The various political factions would also take on a large role in the plot, with quite a bit of choice regarding who you side with. Combat should be adjusted to the open world aspect of the game but kept realistic. A squad and ship should be maintained to a degree, but with more customization. Of course, more customization means less depth.
