I was always with Liara so my romance choice worked in ME3.  I am sure some of you wanted to be with Miranda more or even Jack?  Maybe some of you didn't really care about that and just wanted to be with somebody else in the game?

Miranda was an enormously missed opportunity. There was so much potential for character growth both separate and attached to the romance subplot. Perhaps, I found this more irksome than others because I have written and developed characters with some similarities to her and felt so much was lost.

I kind of wish Miranda and Jack got a little more, both were well done characters in ME2, but they seemed be lacking a little bit in ME3. Maybe that is just my opinion, but I feel Miri at least could have had a better romance. She was after all the one in charge of bringing Shepard back from the dead. Jack seemed to have a little more character development as she, but Miri seemed to be largely unchanged.

Blanket answer - every ME2 romance

Specific answer - Miranda. Besides my bias for Miranda and anything Miranda-related, I legitimately feel that her romance continuation was weak in areas. It was the weird mirror of Jack's romance, in that it had more actual screen content, but that content was of a lower quality (not that I feel Jack's romance was very good in ME3). There was Shepard's strange inability to offer assistance with Oriana, to his lack of emotion at Sanctuary, to Shepard somehow locking himself of the hotel room after the romance scene.

I hate it when people say this, but I actually think I could have written it in a more believable fashion.

Jack and miranda. I would also like to point out that in Me2 jacob's father became a futuristic bacchus and if you romanced him (jacob) he cheated on you. Perhaps the devs could be a little more concious of their racial options? It's insane that Miranda, one of the most popular characters for me, was written so spectacularly into a corner while others remained unscathed or even epicental.

Miranda definitly. She was a big character in ME2 and by far my favourite LI.

I was happy with how Liara and Ashley were handled (although the game needed more Ash in general) but I felt that Miranda didn't get her due. She was a massive character in ME2 (being the character responsible for Shepard's resurrection) and I think she should have not only gotten a better romance path, but should have been a squadmate as well.

Tali and all others from ME2 but in my opinion thay focused to much on liara. they need to focus on all others.

But tali is in my opinion what they should expand.

The conversations you get with her was to to short and the romantic moments you get with her were to few, and that last love scene was not good that one needs a remake, and for god sake show her face in a real cinematic and not in a picture.

Thane. :( I was really sad that he didn't even qualify as a romance to unlock the paramour achievement.

Also, I'm not a fan of Jacob, but I felt it was wrong to have Jacob cheat on you and then lock you out of half of the other romance options. :/

Miranda: Lots of potential there for character growth. Unfortunately squandered by rehashing the ME2 plot.

Thane: Same situation as Miranda, actually, just with a much worse outcome, especially for folks who romanced him.

Jacob: Very rarely are characters so terrible they need to be scrapped (a la Jar-Jar Binks). If a character was poorly received, the devs should have taken the opportunity in 3 to try and strengthen the character, not write him off. I liked him well enough, and he did have his fans.

Jack:  Given her limited screen presence, I think Jack actually fared the best in ME3.  Sure, she doesn't have a lot of content, but what's there is fairly good.  It advances her character and relationship with Shepard without rehashing any of the ME2 stuff.  More content is always good, but at least the Jack romance hit the basics.

well its hard with the ME2 characters who can die, how much can you do involving them in big arcs when they can be dead. But i think pretty much all ME2's romances needed more.

also i think they missed out on some real tension, and to show lasting effects of your actions, through 2 shepard could break off and romance every available partner, and "cheat" on the LI from the first game, yet everyone gets on hunkey dorey (except for the odd snide comment here and there) they needed to have more consequences of your actions between the charcaters to make them feel real.

My male shep romances Liara in one, Miranda in 2, having also done Jack on the side, then said he wanted to pick up with liara at the start of 3, then cheated on her again the second Miranda shows up, yet acting like some James bond in space everyone was his friend and all, Liara even saying " youve been a good friend" despite cheating on here twice

So from my POV they could and should have expanded on all of them.

I thought Jack's was fine, but I still wanted to see that emotional aspect from the relationship she and Shepard had. Otherwise, I'm cool w/ it. In general, just ME2 characters.

Miranda.
She should have a real romance scene on the Normandy like the ME3 LI, and more conversations (during the appartment scene for example).

None. Every relationship is different, and so is every romance different. I wasn't expecting Thane to turn up in Mass Effect 3 at all, but he hung on, and ended his life in the most heroic way he possibly good.

It's not a relationship simulator, it's a story simulator. We've got doomed relationships, forgotten relationships, rekindled loves, secret relationships... and they all make a lot of sense for each character. You knew Jacob's history and his character before you got into a relationship with him. You knew your long term prospects with Thane were limited. And you knew how important Cerberus was to Miranda - and, equally, how important Miranda was to Cerberus. Doesn't mean their stories were predictable, but they're risks that were taken. And isn't that what every relationship is? A risk.

I'm quite pleased that they weren't all these fairy tale romances, weren't these big stories where you fight the reapers, hand in hand. It's a lot more 1984 than that - little snatches of joy in a terrible era. Even the people you get to keep on board, it's not like you're at it like rabbits. It's sweeter than that, a little understated - and for me, that's more of a strength than a weakness.

I mean, sure, a little more interaction would be great. They've written brilliant characters, who I'd always love to see more of, so it'd be nice if you could catch up with old flames throughout the game over Anderson and Hackett's holographic intercom... but I don't think it's necessary, and it's certainly not an entire DLC's worth of content. Could be a feature bundled into a different DLC, perhaps - but it's not any higher a priority than more story, more action, more planets, more exploration. I love Mass Effect - more anything's good!

That said, if there were any romance I think they could've done more with, it'd probably be Jack. Not speaking with any kind of bias here, she wasn't even alive by the time my main Shepard reached Mass Effect 3, she just feels like the one there could've been a little more story with. But I don't think we need anything more for any of them, and I don't feel like there's anything they should've done that they didn't.

Guys. Romance forum got shut down for a reason - too creepy, posts start to get riled up and hormones and loneliness start coloring them a very ugly shade of sad. Give it a rest, please.
