It's actually a lot more fun to just shoot her yourself and get the "I hope the Reapers send you to hell!" line

Then ****** her off in the grave when her name is forever blacklisted (she is the unwitting traitor, but still a traitor) and Shepard blows the Reapers to hell.

And Thane is never mentioned again<_<

Yeah, I hated that too. Thane dies a hero, Ashley dies a traitor, and all everyone can think is "Sorry about Ash, Shepard."

Her name is removed and her plate is incinerated on Shepard's orders.

. More ME1 bias at work.  But I've never killed the VS on the Citadel so I don't know what happens in that case.

I don't kill Kaidan. I send him to Hackett, because he'll lead a Biotic SpecOps squad that only he can lead due to his unique long-term experience as a Biotic soldier. He'll be much more useful to the war effort vs Ashley. She is the CO of a Infantry Battalion (A staff job) that literally any other trained military officer in Infantry can lead. I don't want her on my ship for a variety of reasons (listening to her **** about Cerberus, listening to her second guess me, listening to her racist views, listening to her pick fights with the alien crew members, and have her try to get me to get back together with her. She broke my trust as well. I have nothing to say to her, nor do I want to.). I also have no need for any more pro-alliance propaganda on MY ship. I already hate what the alliance did to the Normandy.

Killing Ashley does absolutely nothing for the war effort. Keeping her alive does nothing either. She only got to where she was because she took some credit for Shepard's actions, and Anderson likes her because she's so pro-alliance.

sorry all for turning this into an Ashley bash. Please note, I support more content for her and all characters, even though I hate her guts.

I can understand bringing Kaidan onto the Normandy. He is experienced and his powers kick ass. He actually is qualified to be a spectre and a valid team member on the most dangerous missions in the galaxy. I don't want a rifleman, we already have Vega for that.

Also, how does she jump from Gunnery Sargeant to Liutenant Commander? That just doesn't make sense to me. But I'm not Military so I differ to your expertise on this.

Plot Armor. It doesn't. For that matter, and I know ME ranks are different, but Gunnery Sergeant is an Enlisted Marine rank (E-7) the equivalent to a Sergeant First class in the United States Army.

Lieutenant Commander is an Officer rank in the U.S. Navy (O-4), the equivalent of a Major in the Army and Marine Corps.

In the span of 3 years, it's impossible to jump from that rank.

Marine Enlisted Ranks (I'm Army so I'm not sure if right).

E1 Private
E2 PFC
E3 Lance Corporal
E4 Corporal
E5 Sergeant
E6 Staff Sergeant
E7 Gunnery Sergeant
E8 Master Sergeant/1st Sergeant
E9 Master Gunnery Sergeant/Sergeant Major

Navy Officer Ranks (All Officer ranks are higher than any enlisted rank)

O1 Ensign
O2 Lieutenant Junior Grade
O3 Lieutenant
O4 Lieutenant Commander
O5 Commander
O6 Captain
O7 Rear Admiral (lower half) or Commodore (in other Navies)
O8 Rear Admiral (upper half)
O9 Vice Admiral
O10 Admiral
O11 Fleet Admiral

Ashley crossed services, and jumped up in rank precedence by 6 ranks in 3 years. Again I don't remember ME ranks. But that is impossible. Especially since one year previously, she was still an enlisted rank. She could not have commissioned and gotten promoted 4 ranks that fast.

This is why I like Halo so much. At least this kind of stuff is spelled out for you in that series.

As for her crossing services, I can kind of understand combining the Marine and Navy ranks to a certain degree. The way I see it, it's adding riflemen into the navy. You still have sailors and such but you add in a planetary combat group that is more similar to the Marines rather than sailors.

But then again I really don't know much about this. I'm going to stick to Ancient Military History. Much simpler

Nothing wrong with that - you simply don't like her. At least you don't "enjoy" killing her, like some others - which is a huge step forward in my eyes.

Case closed.

Here's the ME list:

ENLISTED

  • Serviceman 3rd class/Private 2nd class
  • Serviceman 2nd class/Private 1st class
  • Serviceman 1st class/Corporal
NCOs

  • Service Chief
  • Gunnery Chief
  • Operations Chief
OFFICERS

  • 2nd Lieutenant
  • 1st Lieutenant
  • Staff Lieutenant
  • Lieutenant Commander
  • Staff Commander
  • Captain/Major
  • Rear Admiral/General
  • Admiral
  • Fleet Admiral

And I know how it sounds (really bad, specially because I mean that) but Udina wanted a puppet, Ashley wanted promotions...maybe a couple of "favours" happened, I can't see any other way for her to rank up so fast, specially since the Alliance handicapped her due to family issues with, her granfather was it?

I would have just like an option in ME1 to tell her to GTFO of my ship, but noo, she had to go with a bang

Why can't we quick her off after Anderson is relieved of command? He says that she should stay because he says so. But no Anderson, you can get rid off her.

[*]I don't know if she would sleep with him. I may hate Ashley, but she's not the type to go sleeping around. Rather, I think Anderson took a liking to her and promoted her because he knew Shepard had been close to her at one point. She was also promoted for one reasonable reason as well - She did have experience fighting Reapers (husks). She was a puppet. Udina used her blind faith and loyalty to the alliance against her. And when it was over, her overzealous faith in the alliance ended up getting her branded as one of it's greatest traitors, at least in my head canon. But back to Udina, that's the only reason she was ever made a Spectre. He was also using her to get to Shepard. Since she had ties to Shepard, she would make him look bad when/ if it was found out that Udina had ties to Cerberus and he had made Ashley a Spectre, with Shepard's endorsements and prior intimate relations with Williams, it would make Shepard look bad. What he didn't expect was for Shepard to effortlessly and unhesitatingly gun down Williams when it was clear she wasn't going to listen. Shepard guns him down with the same purpose as well. He misunderestimates Shepard's will.

Well, in that case, cease the Ashley hate. You're no majority in the entire fandom. Plus I don't want to get that forum closed like the last time ...

*still morns the Characters & Romance Discussion*

Infact, I think we should support each other to get our expanded romances DLCs or story DLCs that add more romantic stuff as well for everyone and stop fighting 'cause some hate certain characters. Just saying

Ash may not be the most enlightened human out there......... which is actually a bonus in my eye's. Sure she may have views which don't wash, but my Shep can argue about them with her. Which allows the player to fish for information.

Plus, her views are skewed in favour of the war with the Batarians. The first major encounter with an alien race and they were trying to kill her and her family. Frankly I think her defensive posture against anything she doesn't understand is a natural reaction in relation to her upbringing.

Sure, we could have a Star Trek cut out cardboard figure who loves everyone and wants to know about them and will willingly go with the alien way of doing things rather than teach them about the human way.

But in a RPG we need characters like Ash to reach out so we can play a part with or against them. Say what you like her <cough> ME3 Aweful haircut and too much makeup <cough> but she's talked about alot more than Kaiden. Primarily because unlike Kaiden she has flaws that stir a response. And for a game character what more could you ask for?

As far as I can tell, no one's fighting on here. I'm just stating why I hate Ashley. No ones coming up to fight.

I said I'd support more content for all the romance options, including Ashley. I hate her character, not the fans. They deserve better. We all do.

True enough. Kaidan stirs a response in me. He's a bit naive as well, but he does what he does for what he believes is right.

I see what you're saying with Ashley and I agree with it. And I dislike those types of people very strongly. It's why I hate her character so much.

I'm not a fan of Hackett either. My Shepard doesn't call him 'sir'. He's an independent. And he's the ticket to winning. He's the real leader, not Hackett.

But yeah I see where it's at.

I'm also really hoping to get both Aria and Petrovsky on my side in Omega. As I said, I'm a fan of Cerberus and TIM (pre-ME3). I knew they were going to be antagonists the minute I read back in April 2011 that they were siding with the Reapers. But they just made them the Space N*zi's and evuls, instead of the complex grey organization. They were trying to stop the Reapers. I see them as the group that was willing to do the right thing, even if they did it with the wrong methods.

My Shepard's greatest regret is that he couldn't get Cerberus on his side. They would have been one of his most valuable ally's.

Petrovsky - I think we're on the same side here since he's not the "bad guy" and his support could help greatly in the war. Overall I hope Omega will add some War Assets and may even change the endings a bit (well, honestly it won't happen, not even in the refusal ending).

Okay, maybe I shouldn't wave the Alliance flag that much, I'm more a fan of the blue guys ;)

Overall: more content for any characters (Miranda being first right after my fave) would help greatly. Somehow I wish for more "loyalty missions" like in ME2 - they helped a lot to understand certain characters.

It was so weird going from a Shep who got along reasonably well with Cerberus in ME2 to OMG THEY'RE ALL THE DEVIL in ME3.  Can you imagine if they'd actually retained their more grey morality and been a possible recruitable faction?
