My solution for ME4 (or patch):
Add in a counter attack when a player tries to get to their feet. Every fighting game has it. Like how you can uppercut from crouching in Mortal Kombat, this should be possible in ME. It works like this, as you medigel or revive, you can hit melee to do a counter attack as you rise. This attack has a very brief but important stagger that allows a player to get away or take the offensive. Imagine a Drell doing a 360 leg sweep, a Krogan doing a crouching clothesline, and a Batarian doing the old MK uppercut.
Sure, it would take a lot of effort, which is why I suggest the next ME do it. But this is also kind of realistic, don't you think? What soldier/fighter just casually stands up after getting knocked down? You train to be able to land a forceable blow from any situation, right? And it would solve pretty much all of our problems with enemies trolling downed players.

One thing that is really starting to bug me is that the game talks BS. Every time I bleed out the game claims that I "was executed by <insert enemy name here>. BS! Major BS! There is no enemy anywhere near me. I can clearly see the counter for the bleed out running down and when it does the game starts to talk crap about how I was curbstomped by an enemy. WTF? Shouldn't it say that I "Bled Out"? This game lies. <_<

Just a tip for those who don't know, if you're playing a class that can dodge, start spamming it after being revived. You can use this trick to try and move out of harm's way while your character is getting up.
You'll also be treated to an often funny animation as your character mixes getting up and dodging at the same time :]

Failed a duo the other day, died once at the end of wave 9. with a phantom and dragoons camping my corpse using a gel was pointless. we went down at about the same time.
Shame because apart from that one death, it was a good game.
