I played the MP for a bit when the game first came out but didn't really get into it.  I've come back to the game after several months and a lot's changed: new classes, maps, guns, and mechanics.  When the game was first released, I remember that not a lot of people thought that the human soldier and engineer were worth much, but now, it seems like they make solid showings in the higher difficulties.  So after all of the balance changes that I missed out on, are there still any classes that you just don't want to take into gold and platinum?

*New kits, no new classes.

A ton of people will say volus... Since nobody seems to know how to play him.

Volus are support characters, anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool and should feel bad about being such a fool.

In all reality it depends on the player, I've seen people take the most a**-backwards builds into Gold and top the board.

As a general rule, no. However if there's a class you just can't make work for the life of you don't bother with it. But also don't write it off as completely useless because somewhere out there someone has soloed platinum with it.

The Ceberus Phoenix kits are rather difficult to use.

The Geth Infiltrator is crap. So fragile, doesn't pack enough of a punch to make it worth it.

Female Quarian Engineer. If you like Turrets, use the Geth's. If you like Cryo and Fire explosions, go with Paladin.

What else can she offer? No, the bumbums don't count.

Edited:

I suppose she can be a long range debuffer with Cryo blast, but the debuff itself is worst than snap freeze and enemies can dodge it.

So yeah, long range debuffer which is a very, very small part for her to play.:pinched:

Yeah, and don't bother with TGI as well. You always go down.

Ok, seriously. If you know how to play that class, all the classes are worthy, period ;)

To each it's own, try them all and then roll with the ones you like

I don't like the Vanguard, but the Adept is fun to play and really powerful when equipped with the Acolyte.

No.

There are no kits not worth using. Every one of them is good.

Batarian Sentinel is hated by many, but they buffed him, so it might be worth it now.

All classes are viable. To some it has always been that way but to most, the barrier to entry of fun with the class has been lowered.

There aren't any worthless kits but there are abilities that are not as good as others, I've never been a big fan of pull, lash, or sticky grenade (I know you can get good mileage with an Acolyte + pull)

Every class can be used successfully on gold and below. Some take more practice than others but you can find good models on each if you poke around this site enough. Platinum is a little more picky, the learning curve on many classes are far more advanced.

Fun answer: No, they all offer something unique and you should try them all!

Power player answer: There are definite winners and losers, some classes are significantly more powerful, more forgiving of mistakes, and easier to play

Realistic answer: Playing Gold with randoms, you probably see less than 15% of the classes used with any regularity.

Drellguard is amazing. he's just got a bit of a learning curv for most people. Hell untill I had to use him for the outsider challenge I didn't like either drell much at all.

To OP. Basicly I've seen every kit used extreamly well over the course of playing MP, even chart toping volus on gold despite everyone else doing well.

For bronze/silver any and all classes are viable and fun. For gold any and all classes are viable if you're a good player with a good team :) Not sure about Plat as I've only done a few successful runs. It's a game, have fun :)
