Also, MQE. Can't abuse Cloak/Grenade combo, just good for tagging targets and lobbing nades.

The Ceberus Phoenix kits are rather difficult to use.
The Phoenix adept does have a bit of a learning curve. Biggest things are to make use of smash canceling by rolling, smash doesn't care about solid objects, lash doesn't (shouldn't) care about shields, and singularity doesn't care about protection, it will prime all the things.
Actually, I think lash just isn't care at al, it seems to think its throw sometimes.

Yeah, the Batarian solider is a beast. The only one on that list that I agree with is the Human Sentinel. The Krogan Sentinel is good for getting your "Mrrraaahh" on.
I can't find good use for it at all. I've speced Ballistic Blades numerous times using different settings and still have yet to get a good result. I don't like how Inferno Grenades handle, and I don't really like Blade Armor either. The Batarian itself handles awkwardly as well, as it's a bigger character, so its hitframes are probably larger as well. Also, the melee was fun to use at first, but it's still iffy.
I do enjoy the Sentinel though. Submission net is great, as well as setting up Tech Bursts with Shockwave.
Batarian Soldier is one of the best CQC character out there... He is probably the best Batarian overall... Ballistic Blade is an awesom crowd control skill... He can easily flatten an entire spawn area with Balistic Blades and Inferno 'nades...
Max out everything and skipped BA... Equip him with Wraith/Harrier (on open maps like Condor and Hydra). If you get close to a group the enemy Inferno Nades, Balistic Blades, Shoot..
I always skip Blade Armor, but still have no success with the guy. Ballistic Blades seem so useless, and I can never get the effect I want, even close range. The only 'crowd control' I see out of it are the Inferno Grenades...and even then, I don't particularly like those.

This is exactly what I run, right down to the Harrier I and only Grenade max at +4, but the build is very solid. Spec spare ammo and weapon damage for his passive to make your gun last longer. General tactic is to find a spawn or a cluster of enemies, toss 2 grenades, fire blades and then walk away while everything dies. use the harrier for clean up and bosses. This build is beastly for long to mid range spawn clearing and it has a built in shotgun with the blades that provides it with two staggers, one for the first hit, and the second after the blades explode, dealing AOE damage and staggering any enemy close to the explosion.
I've used a build similar to it and just can't seem to work it. It always feels too slow of a character to me. Thing was, I didn't use Harrier, but I used Phalaynx/Striker/Revenant/Mattock (alterated between the 4). Then again, at the time, I didn't have the Harrier. I dunno. Just not my guy I guess.

Um, playing as the volus is easy - stand behind someone and keep using Shield Boost over and over again. The volus characters are support characters and their offensive abilities are last resort.doozerdude wrote...

This!
Ha Ha, FQE haters. She's still here.
Seriously though this has all been said before. There are characters I wouldn't play if my life depended on it, that others love. And the other way around. We are all different. That's the beauty of having so much kit available now - there will be something in there that suits you. Be yourself.

I disagree on both of these, particularly the QME. He's a tech bursting god that wrecks everything. People downplay the QME and say he's inferior because you replace the QMI's cloak with incinerate. Both QMI and QME destroy enemies but I find the QME much more fun because of the non stop tech bursting.

I think the QME is one of the most underrated classes in the game, a complete monster against all factions (except maybe Collector, haven't used him against them yet). Especially after the change to fire explosions, he's even meaner.
As for the Human Adepts, they can be good. Warp is always a great power, as a primer and debuffer. Shockwave is an incredible detonator at short to medium range (especially with the 65 percent boost). And the new singularity is simply awesome.

Do NOT hate on us Batarians, just because you do NOT understand US!
Ok seriously Arppis is right. All Batarians have gotten a bad rap since they were added. It has gotten better since the Batarian Vanguard was added but there are still jerks who kick you for taking a Batarian into gold/plat. There are also those who feel they should NEVER revive a Batarian but insist the Batarian always revive them. But you can encounter that hate as almost any race. Jerks will always be jerks.
Anyway every character has their strengths/weaknesses. It is best to experiment with all of them and decide what works for you. The same can be said for the weapons. There are plenty of people on here with character build layouts you can check out. I tend to look at a couple for a basic understanding of the character then experiment from there.

I don't really like the batarian sentinel very much. I recognize he can by tanky (especially with shield regain equipment) but his powers are very dull in my opinion. I'm going to have to play around with him to make him fun at least.
Put the electriec field evo on his sub net and you can get plenty of tech bursts off it. Btw most people don't realize you can shoot the net onto the ground as a trap. As long as it is there an enemy who walks into it will get netted by it.

You should be running all over the map getting up in the bad guys faces.
Blast them with ballistic blades and then throw a grenade (or vice versa)
shoot the ones that arent quite dead with a big ass shotgun
Ballistic blades shoud stagger pretty much every human sized enemy depending on how you spec it
It does a ton of damage and hits multiple enemies
Inferno grenades are awesome the DOT stacks and it crushes armored units
The Batarian Soldier is really good
Perhaps you aren't getting close enough to the bad guys

I played the MP for a bit when the game first came out but didn't really get into it. I've come back to the game after several months and a lot's changed: new classes, maps, guns, and mechanics. When the game was first released, I remember that not a lot of people thought that the human soldier and engineer were worth much, but now, it seems like they make solid showings in the higher difficulties. So after all of the balance changes that I missed out on, are there still any classes that you just don't want to take into gold and platinum?
Gold? No, any char is good on gold, if anybody say otherwise, he failed to learn how the char work.. I play most gold, I play with everything, and everything work just fine on gold.
Platinum? That depends on what kind of challenge you are looking for, but for starters, yeah, it's better to choose stronger chars. Chars that don't have a good kick against bosses, or die too easily, probably will have a bad time on platinum. You can play with them, but be sure you and your team is up for the challenge...

Edited:
I suppose she can be a long range debuffer with Cryo blast, but the debuff itself is worst than snap freeze and enemies can dodge it.
So yeah, long range debuffer which is a very, very small part for her to play.
If you spec Cryo Blast for Radius then they can't dodge it. It hits them even when they dodge. Also Paladin has to get dangerously close to enemies to use his Snap Freeze ability. Getting that close to enemies on GOLD/PLATINUM is a death sentence if you aren't the host of the game. (And what if you just don't like the Geth characters?)
Anyway, after the recent updates I've been using the Female Quarian Engineer a lot and she seems fine now. She's not the killing machine that some characters turn out to be but she is no longer the crappy character she used to be.

First time I played Batarian Sentinel, I couldn't make he be as good as the soldier, but I'm playing again now, it's a beast. SUbmission net is awesome for control, and you can tech burst with shockwave, plus batarian have an awesome melee and is hard to kill. Give him a nice shotgun and bring hell to the enemies...

I'm sorry, but I believe that on equal level of skills, a FQE will never outscore a paladin. HI might take a bit more commitment... But from a certain skill level on, they will outscore FQE too.
That saying, I'm hardly saying that FQE is worthless. I love the class, she can be great. Just... Not as great as a (bugged) paladin, you know?
The funny thing is that I regularly out-score some of the best players on PC with her regardless who or what characters they are playing (including GI's, TGI's, or whatever). Some of those players are better than I am too.
I've yet to meet a Paladin who can match my lovely FQE against Reapers & Collectors (he's better against Cerb & Geth, true, but I never fight Geth anyway
The FQE does require more skill to be good. A noob standing behind a wall spamming Snap Freeze and have other teammates trigger iceplosions for him will do well on the score board. My FQE doesn't need help from teammates and she doesn't hide like a coward behind walls or a flashy shield either. She's a one-woman-Ice, Fire & Claymore-army
Nice to know, then I'd like to see her in action! I'm definitely not one of the best players around here, but I like to play the paladin. We might join forces for a cryo explosion galore! What do you think?
And no, I have no intention to show that the paladin can score more, as you are probably far more skilled than I am

I run mine a bit differently i.e. Valient as opposed to Claymore but you're correct about the cooldown difference between snap freeze and cryoblast. I find I have enough time to get three shots off before my cd is ready. Do you run a turret or forgo it in favor of more fitness/ passivedamage?
The FQE's fast cooldowns (cryo and turret) are really good combined with a good weapon. I named mine Claymi'Amore so using the Valiant would be blasphemous
Generally it's a good idea to try and match shooting & reloading with power spamming. My FQE can cast Cryo Blast, fire Claymore, and immediately follow with Incinerate (cooldowns are an almost perfect match with Claymore's RoF). That combo will almost kill a (gold) Brute when you use Incendiary ammo (maybe it does kill it if you wait for the DoT). The Paladin can only dream of killing Brutes that fast.
I still use her turret (I run a 6/6/6/5/3 build), but, unfortunately, the latest patch severely gimped pets. I loved how her tiny turret could keep a couple banshee busy for a long time. It's still useful, but more as free damage, the occasional distraction and it can set up fire & ice explosions with the proper evos. Fortunately the cooldown is very fast so I always tryto toss one in a group of enemies when she's too far away to make the most of her bread and butter abilities.
