Story is here http://ow.ly/fdGHW via twitter from Tulley Auckland a CM for bioware and other studios or just go to the bioware blog.

game seems to be headed by Montreal not Edmonton with Casey still being the lead.

So discuss,
what do u want?
possible class changes?
etc.

edit1. Plz stop freaking out about PvP.  Nothing is official yet.

As long as it's still fun, I don't really care how it goes.

:o:wub:

Two of my favorite game franchises, now running on the same engine? Say it IS so!

Frostbite has some amazing visual and interaction capabilities. Looking forward to see where they take this franchise.

montreal did the multiplayer and assisted with single player dlc.  Edmonton did the single player.

I think its interesting that they choose the Frostbite 2 engine over the Unreal Engine the ME3 runs on. I guess its easier to us an engine created by an EA developer. My friend made the point that the Frostbite 2 engine is a good engine, its just buggy in its current state.

How heavy is the engine? I hear BF3 has pretty steep system requirements. ME3 is pretty light on system requirements.

There could be a way to make it work without butchering the essence of the ME series` gameplay, so do not judge prematurely (unless it is a pure PvP online game, where someone with no interest in PvP and/or onlone gaming would simply sit this one out).

I don't think there is one, but hey, can't know until the deed is done.

the FB2 engine is a nice but demanding engine to work with.  Honestly with all of EA's games running this, it might as well be renamed the EA engine.

Oi, lucky for PC owners... hope it will release on next gen consoles so it would look amazing.

Wouldn't like the PvP part either, that's what I have other games for.

Very interesting...lets hope they'll use Frostbite's destructive and visual quality to create an emersive world and not turn it into a Michael Bay film.

it seems to be the trend now.. I think DA 3 will be on Frostbite 2 too. (I THINK)

so it's totally possible that the next Mass Effect game will be on Frostbite 2 as well.

Pretty damn heavy. The console versions of BF3 require a texture pack install just to run in HD. The engine is built with high end PC's in mind. Here's a system requirement list for BF3
Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3
  • OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.
  • Graphics card memory: 512 MB
  • Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card
  • Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.
  • Graphics card memory: 1 GB
  • Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card
  • Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

What if they shift to Cryengine 3? Our PCs will go up in flames.

I hope they don't stray to far away from what made the Mass-Effect franchise so popular. An epic story with a large world with lots of RPG elements, including our lovely dialogue.

I have faith that they will do it in a manner that is true to the series.

i would love to see PvP... also some new co-op style games rather then just 11 waves of boring-ness... and a WAAAAAY longer campaign...

edit...

awh poor pc users will have to actually break down and buy the game along with a real console... bring on the epic graphics...
