So long as they stay away from PvP, it should be good. Not that I hate PvP, but it the goddamn hardest to balance thing on the planet, and will eat more testing and updating resources than anything else, and particularly will totally take over the post-release development of a product, simply because it is so ornery.

FB2 is pretty much too hot for this gen's consoles, so no surprise if this is not for them.

If they put in PVP, I'm out.

My knee jerk reaction is this...

But a lot of people did say that about multiplayer at all.

Wut?

No. Current consoles will not be able to run this. So it's next-gen consoles, or current-gen PCs. Many of us already have PCs capable of running it.

Frost... is a great engine. When done right.

Look at MOH:WF to see how it can be done so very wrong.

As long as it stays true to the ME universe, I think it will be a great thing. Especially since there's far more support for different graphics settings, etc.

BF3 shows that larger more varried maps can be created which can open up classes to be more distinctive. It also will bode well for MP, which face it, is where the franchise is going. Nearly 8 mos. and only 1 real DLC??? makes it obvious that SP is no longer a priority.

If I'm proven wrong, though, and SP is made spectacular again, then Frost. can only be an improvement, IMO

The sys reqs for bf3 aren't high end, they just look like it next to aged and limited tech in consoles.

Unrelated...

Different people work on the MP and the SP. Plus designing a SP DLC is much more complicated than the multiplayer DLCs so they will come out much slower. It requires a much bigger team, a story, new designs, schedules with the voice actors, editing, tweaking, cutting, adding, testing, repeating, etc.

 not sure if trolling...

FB2 was made to run great on PCs, you know that right?

I don't understand why people think switching from the Unreal engine to Frostbyte 2 means we will get PvP.

Because one is a lot more dynamic than the other.

with me4 underway does that mean that the BW has the dev kits for p0s4 and xbawks lol720???

cause there is no way the limited utility of current consoles will be able to fully utilize FB2 engine...

i guesse it wont matter to me....by the time intel haswell comes out im building my new system

Sounds good to me.
I just hope they don't crazy with the filters.

Stock Battlefield 3 looks great without all the blue/grey.

I'm not too familiar with frostbite 2. How well does it handle facial animations? For a series that focuses a lot on conversations, I feel like the facial animations have been pretty lackluster.

My gtx670 is ready. Will be interesting to see how DA3 turns out, it will give us an idea of what to expect for Mass Effect 4.

I'm excited.

So far as PvP and whatnot, it sounds like we'll be leaving the Commander Shepard story arc quite a bit, so...who knows?

ummn, the sensitive SP forum folks would be more interested in facial animation and stuff. All we care for is bug free MP matches!

Yay, 8 sided lens flare.

If it has a troll store, the game can got rot.  Once it too much.

EDIT:  Sticky cover, one button three functions, cheap cheating enemies, wobbly movement mechnics, spastic balance changes, fat krogan hump blocking my screen when i aim in, infrequent patching, etc., it can all go rot.

Guys, most of you don't seem to understand what a game engine is.

Using the Frostbite 2 engine =/= It'll be BF3 set in the ME universe.

Consider Half Life 2. Now consider DOTA 2. They run on the same engine. Engines are what handle physics, rendering... that sort of thing. They don't deal with graphical style, level design or gameplay.

In any case, no one seems to be asking the important questions:

If Montreal is making it, what are Edmonton doing?

I think Montreal is the multiplayer team.

I want the game to let you choose YOUR character. As in, no Shepard, choose your race, class and beginning story. (I want to play a female Turian now that I saw Nyreen...  btw, is it just me or holy **** is Aria's Biotic Detonation awesome? Can we have that as a power for a multiplayer character?)
Have your choices matter but the story be fixed a la ME2. Each class having a different beginning and starting squad members but ultimately having the same "heroic" story although with differences in outcomes based in what you chose. Sort of like the Suicide Mission, I think that was the greatest and most satisfying ending to a game I've ever played. Also since it's gonna be using Frostbite I expect unbelievable graphics and animations. Yeah, I do.Have the game story be set hundreds of years after the main trilogy so that the basic universe and lore is the same, but we have the chance to forget about that crappy ending and it's ramifications. They would most likely have to make one of the crappy endings cannon.
Since the ending apparently only extends to the Milky Way, and we've explored pretty much all of it, include a new galaxy, say Andromeda. It's the closest galaxy to us if I'm not mistaken, it's in direct collision course with the Milky Way IIRC which could make an interesting plot point... The issue here would be "How do we top Reapers as enemies/larger than life conflict?" Well, a freaking galaxy about to crash with another COULD be bigger than Reapers... And could have races from both galaxies needing to work together to stop it from happening. (I know timing doesn't fit since by the time Andromeda collides with the Milky Way it'd pretty much be the year 500 gazillion, but who cares! It's a game XD) It would also give us A LOT of new places to explore and probably A LOT of new races to play.
I mean, the Milky Way cannot possibly be the only galaxy with life in it...
Considering it's been hundreds of years we could witness new races come into the Citadel fray after all the issue with the Reapers, so expecting a Yahg squadmate or playable main character wouldn't be too far fetched would it? Yahg are basically Krogan's on steroids so I sure want to play or have one with my squad. And since we have let's see... About 14 races in a single galaxy... A new one (Andromeda.) could give around 10+ more as well. Although that would give us too many choices meaning too many voices for each beginning meaning too much dialogue and therefore a complete pain in the ass for BW. Or they could have the same male and female character perform dialogue for everyone and add filters/voice modifiers...
As for multiplayer, well, I'd suggest characters level up individually. Say if you play an N7 Fury then the Fury levels up but the other Adepts don't. That means you have to play every character from the beginning meaning you play more and get better with each individually and engage more in their progress. If you don't like it you don't play it, but you could be missing on a great character if leveled up properly. However, you can only promote them when ALL characters in a class are leveled up.
I'd also like to get an actual store. Having random packs enfuriates me because I never get what I want. If I play exclusively as say an infiltrator, I don't want appearance upgrades for my vanguards, and I certainly don't want a freaking grenade gatling gun. I want a great sniper or shotgun. That said, once you buy a weapon or equipment you have to buy it again and again to get it to X. Just like the Single Player. And once you buy one, every character can use it. So XP would be individual but weapons would be for everyone.
Introducing more varied characters that not only play but also look differently.
And of course, have more Salarians. Salarians make everything better.
Other than that, I'm sure it's for next gen consoles.
