A while ago I found a FPS clip that was basically the Mass Effect version of Call of Duty. It looked pretty awesome.King Ptolemy IV wrote...

Mass Effect: Battlefield .... I can see it now...
64 players log onto a server... "we're all on the same team? npcs better be hard!"
*Harbinger and Co Land*
*3 minutes later*
*Harbinger spawn camps the allied spawn points*
*64 players rage quit*
More like. . . someone finds a way to hack Harbinger and be them thus destroying everyone on the map by dropping continous nukes like in COD . . oh wait according to you in the pvp crowd that's suppost to happen . . . So is the bot aiming hacks, armor hacking, see though hacking, shoot through anything, and god mode hacks . . . Rage on the boards over who is and who isn't hacking. Yey what fun . . . Can you tell I'm so excited.
PVP is so dead to me.
Oh and just wait some folks will have it hacked before the game is even released! Oh joy .

Two of my favorite game franchises, now running on the same engine? Say it IS so!
Frostbite has some amazing visual and interaction capabilities. Looking forward to see where they take this franchise.
If you mean way too much bloom and color ****ery then yes.

As long as they focus on improving Frostbites' facial expressions then I'm happy. In game the soldiers seem to switch between perfectly calm and full on scream at the pull of the trigger.
In cutscenes, where you would most likely notice, it works perfectly.
The problem with that is that Mass Effect doesn't have all to many cutscenes. Most of the dialouge is done in-game. There's very few actual cutscenes ala Battlefield 3. This is the part that has me concerned.

Throw in the ability to customize your soldier would be nice. Of course, certain armors would be limited to class.

Spartan Ops is utter garbage. You literally cannot fail the missions on even the hardest difficulty due to infinite respawns, and they look like they are just going to recycle the same maps over and over again. That's the last thing ME4 needs.

That's a real shame. Unreal Engine 4 kicks the living **** out of Frostbite.
I agree they are fairly similar in capability but you have the look at it from EA's perspective, money. Would EA license an engine from another studio and have them take a cut of their profits just because it is the latest version of what they had or use a brand new and mostly debugged engine that they already own(Frostbite 2) and give it to their studio for them to use for free.
Which makes the most sense?

No they are not fairly similar in capability. That was my point. Unreal Engine 4 is more designer friendly and far, far more powerful. EA just doesn't want to spend money on the licensing fees.

Do you really think they would spend time making sure the facial expressions that you will never see be good in Battlefield?
Now to everyone saying its going to be murky and buggy:
The buggines comes from EA forcing DICE to release early.
The murkyness is a design choise and it can look completly different.
The engine does not dictate the style.
