In ME4, "the quantities may vary, but you can expect the same basic ingredients you found in ME1-3"

ME3 is not a flop and is not widely hated, because a verbal minority of hate does not constitute "widely" even DA 2 sold fairly well, the onyl flop was TOR.

Then that vocal minority must be the same in all forums, as most reactions go along despised, indefference or mockery. I´m afraid among the gaming fandom ME3 and Starbrat have become the example of how to royally screw up.

Look you and the poster above can believe these forums are a "majority" or a "wide view" all you like fact of the matter is Mass Effect 3 sold in the millions, yet with all the hype, all the main stream media coverage highlighting the terrible ending only 68k of millions actually bothered to come to BSN and to vote in the notorious poll here

http://social.biowar...606/polls/28989

68k out of millions is the definition of a minority.

68k people voting on a forum poll is actually pretty significant.

Not if numbers on the forums are significantly higher memberwise,  250k members? 500k members a million? still a minority.

Not only the BSN, that´s the problem. But let me play along, I don´t see those other millions jumping to defend it either.  While people who don´t like a product are more likely to voice their opinion than those who do, I think when something we like is attacked we jump to its defense. And sorry, but you are in the minority there.

I didnt like the ending myself, but im under no illusion in the wider meaning of things this forum is a minority, In a game that sold as many millions as mass effect 3 did, made as much money as mass effect did, you cant say it was a flop or that its widely hated, because some of the hardcore fans on the forum didnt like it.

I really need to know why The Old Republic is "the biggest flop ever", I believe that title currently goes to UFC Unleased 3 because it needed to sell two million copies to break even and since it didn't UFC moved their brand to EA, possibly pushing THQ closer to bankrupcy.  LucasArts is more about money then EA and if The Old Republic was losing moneyI am pretty sure they would interfer, it might not be the biggest cash cow of all time, that title goes to World of Warcraft.

The Old Republic is one of the most expensive and resource demanding games ever made.

Not even a year old and it's going F2P and it was 14 bucks new at Gamestop. They'll never recoup the cost.

It doesn't matter if TOR flops because LucasArts will collect fees no matter what. It's EA/Bioware that take the hit

If you knew anything about statistics and surveys, you'd know that such a closed poll would never, in any circumstance whatsoever, be considered remotely significant.

Exploring a new direction could be something as simple as having the RPG start the PC as a scientist researching Prothean ruins, and having more puzzle and exploration based RPG elements than featuring a soldier who's only goal is to fight some lurking and ancient menace. It could also mean no RPG elements, or it could mean anything in between and even things no one on the BSN has thought of.

i never said that the poll was 100% accurate - but the trend is something to be looked at. happy people dont complain or leave bsn in silent depression.

subscription-based though fees do make that comprable. In the end the only way to say it flops is if it is shut down within a year from launch.

The subscription fees would make it more comparable if in fact it stayed that way, but come November 15 it becomes free to play. So they need to hope that people are willing to sink some money into their "Free to Play" system. And currently  there are 8 US and 9 European with 3 Asian servers.

So, we're really doing this, huh? We're not gonna wait and see if...no? Not gonna, you know, maybe let the people at Bioware do their work and hope for something good? Maybe...let Bioware show they can, in fact, learn from past choices and...oh, alright. Cuz I thought that just maybe we could NOT, just once, do the same "gross misinterpretation based on nothing more than personal opinion loosely based on facts twisted to fit said opinion" schtick, but...yeah? We're still gonna...? Yeah; no problem, that's totally a good idea.

Apparently. No one knows how they know this though, and its just as easy to claim the other way round, but no one seems to understand that at all.

We did do that with DA2. And then again with SWTOR. Kinda hard to give someone the benefit of doubt three times in a row.

" a huge galaxy to explore "......mwahahaha yeah right, the citadel with 5 floors is all i remember from ME3 as regards to exploring even though we was traveling the galaxy for war assets.

If i can explore it akin to ME1 then it's a good start to getting me back as a must buy as otherwise im renting as i wont fall for any pre-release jargon.

Exactly, 3 strikes and out.......and i mean that as i'll continue to play bioware games, i'll just rent them or get feedback and ignore if it's crap like how final fantasy has gone.........i suppose the good thing going in our favour is the negative feedback for DA2/ME3 surely could only lead to them realising they need to step up to the plate again as it's hard in the gaming world to ignore the bad reception those games got and still get deservedly.

A lot of us are already through our making excuses or giving the benefit of doubt phase. If it looks like a cow and sounds like a cow, it probably is a cow. Shifty looking cow or no.

I can see it going this way to be honest. Maybe not Borderlands in the Mass Effect universe exactly, or even Gears in the ME universe, but a shooter with RPG elements thrown in. Can even see them giving us a set protagonist and removing our ability to build him ourselfs.

I don't think this is "Mass Effect 4" but more like a spin off. Kinda like Mass Effect: Reach if you will.

Having played DA2 and then ME3 I've seen it moving this way for a while. The ship of giving them the benefit of the doubt has long sailed.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the game out Spring 2014.

If this turned out to be so, I don't think it would necessarily be a bad thing.  Of course I'd prefer the mechanics that made Mass Effect 1-3 (yes, I included 3 so just deal with it) popular with so many people, but if we're truly looking at something new for the franchise, maybe the gameplay should be one of the new things.

At the very least I intend to wait it out rather than cry "Chaos and bedlam!!!" and declare the ME franchise dead for the umpteenth time.
