As far as people saying 'wait and see before you judge', that statement only holds so much water before it caves to the fact that, from what I've seen over the past almost-year, most of the original Mass Effect fanbase was largely disappointed by the way ME3 was handled and has been and ignored by the developer (less the extended cut, which only 1/3rd catered to the most vocal people who wanted it in the first place). They (myself included) are perfectly justified in being very skeptical that Mass Effect 4 will be anything but another step in the direction that ME3 was going in terms of what types of 'art' the developers want in their games.
People seem to think that because Bioware released a free extended cut that this should invalidate any fans butthurt over the game/way the developer acted. This free release doesn't change the facts as they stand, the lies that were told, and the undeniable lack of testing and effort put into various aspects of the game when compared to ME1 and ME2.
I will keep up to date on what news comes out about the game through its development, because I would love to play a game like ME2, but I won't be buying anything until the game is out a while and fan reviews (diehard Mass-Effect fans, not CoD bros who don't know jack about what made the first two games 'Mass Effect') are very good.
As far as FrostBite is concerned, I don't think any of us knows why they want to use that engine, but I agree that it's a bit ... concerning that an RPG-story/cinematic driven series is moving to an engine used primarily in FPS/online shooters....
