A lot of people are speculating that the next gen X-Box (720 or whatever they're going to call it) might launch in Dec '13.  I don't know if this accurate or not, but I've heard it multiple places.  We also hear the Frostbite engine is made to really utiliize the  next gen consoles.  And with the rumors that it could be a year before DA3 is released....

All speculative, yes.  But, man, if all of this is actually true....that's going to take a bite out of all of our wallets.  If the only way to play DA3 is going out and buying the new console...sigh....I'm not sure, from a purely financial situation if I'd even be able to.  I rarely buy consoles on launch.  I don't wait in lines and pay exorbiant prices that will come down later and stabilize.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the 360 can play the game...even if not at full capacity.  (Which still kind of sucks.)

This has been discussed in other threads under the same names. We don't know yet what platforms they will be on.

I think they should just rush it out as fast as possible tbh.

These are the times when I'm most glad that I prefer my Bioware delivery mode to be PC. All this uncertainty would make me SO nervous.

Agreed.  I recently upgraded/rebuilt both my PCs to get them ready for Dragon Age 3 and Crysis 3 when they drop next year.

I bet that they develop it for the old consoles. EA's strategy is to sell as many copies as possible as fast as possible and with release of DA3, if there are new consoles out only a few people will own them, what means less profit if they develop for the new ones.

Let's see, EA is in this only for the money, uncaring about game quality or anything...
That said they'll be building this game for whatever platform has the greatest amount of users. That means it'll be for 360 and ps3 rather than next gen consoles...

I think the next gen consoles have something to do with the fact Bioware hasn't announced the platforms for DA:I

What else could it be? Mark Darrah and/or Aaryn Flynn could have just announced in their statement: "coming on Xbox360, PS3 and PC next fall" . (Please, feel free to answer this question fellow BSN'ers, and inform me, cause I am curious about it..)

Time to save some money I guess?...B)

I am pretty sure no Xbox 720 will happen in next two years, no matter how much you people will cry, scream, or bent over. The PS3 might take even longer - there are games still in development for this consoles and the next will take its time.

The only game i can remember that is confirmed for next gen consoles is Thief 4, which haven't even seen video or trailer yet. So really, next gen consoles are FAR AWAY - literally, even Episode 7 might happen earlier.

DA: Inquisition is for Xbox 360 and PS3, although the reason why they didn't announce platforms, might be because they might wish to pull out exclusives or time exclusive contract, like Bethesda did with DLC on Skyrim.

Obviously, DA3:I will be on Linux, PSP Vita and WiiU only. Maybe on the Dreamcast too.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was like Madden and NHL when the next gen consoles released. Essentially the same game with some graphical differences.

Lots of games in 2005/6 were developed for both consoles when the 360 was newly released. I don't know how likely that model is for the 720, since DLC wasn't as prominent then and I don't know the costs of developing/porting DLC for each platform.

Either way I'd bet my money on it being for this gen. Since I don't think the new consoles will be out till 2014. You don't release a money maker like Halo 4 and give it only a one year life span and then have it compete with your own product. Same deal with PS3 exclusive titles they haven't cashed in enough on them.

This touches on my only worry for the new consoles. I really hope there is a way to transfer my DLC over as well as save files

It's a little early for that sort of confirmation.

Well Sony is screwed so who cares about them but I'm sure Halo4 would work as well on the new Xbox as Halo 2 did going from Xbox to the 360

I hope its on current consoles. They can port it to new once they are out.
I personally and many more fellow europeans (you know greece, italy, spain , portugal) are very low on money to bother with new consoles as soon they got out.

They never said they were doing save imports. At the panel they said that with the change in engines it is making recognizing plot flags a real pain in the ass so they were looking at trying to fix that and alternatives if they can't make it work properly.

Seems very likely IMO, EA CEO John Riccitiello previously mentioned the next gen consoles are coming out in Q4 2013, and now there has been some sort of leak about Battlefield 4 being one of the first next gen titles with release in October 2013
