@CmnDwnWrkn: It does acceptable damage to health/armor considering it's an area effect weapon with a good chance of stunning it's target. Especially given it's light weight.

Regarding it's AoE. The devs had clued us in that if you bounce shots you'll get a much larger AoE. While we don't have exact numbers on this, it's sufficient to hit 3-4 targets in some situations.

The charge mechanism being removed was the only thing that provoked any sort of issue. The gun had been used much less before the change was implemented, and only now is it being put up in the spotlight because of everyone's sudden realization that it could actually do things. I realize that the original intention of removing the charge was to prevent missile glitching, but lets be honest, the glitchers will always find another way.

What is this? Talk of nerfing the Acolyte?

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

:D

But seriously, it is an extremely good sidearm.

As a biotics sidearm, it is perhaps the greatest weapon available.

I wouldn't be lying if I said that it feels very dirty to play with right now, however the irony is that it is needed for certain classes to be effective. Some classes just can't function without the acolytes anti-sheilds effect.

Here's a question for Stardusk:

What isn't good with a Graal Spike Thrower?

I think this weapon offers more than the Acolyte overall... stagger, bleed, applies ammo powers wonderfully, brutal damage, headshots like a boss, annihilates phantoms, 2nd and 3rd shot can come extremely fast if needed OR can be powered up for incredible damage that often OSK shielded mooks, weight is managable/not an issue, etc. I could go on...

The difference IMO is, the Graal requires aim and the Acolyte doesn't. This is why the Acolyte is a noob weapon to some people....

Graal doesn't have a 500% shield bonus.
Graal doesn't have AOE
Graal doesn't taser unshielded enemies.
Graal doesn't weigh as much as a predator.
Graal needs charge for full potential.
Graal is EXTREMELY gimmicky off host.

Hmm... see where this is going?

Dude... we went through all this like 4 pages ago, but we can really rehash it if you'd like... even though I've already countered all those points.

Seriously... what enemy gets his with a charged Graal shot that has shields leftover that's not a boss?

I hardly see anyone use it on xbox.... Xbox players are so dumb not to see its might. I use it on basically every class with great power damage now.

That it quite amusing.  Is this one of those cases where you're Supposed to shoot the messenger?  :D

Seriously though, if anything Stardusk should be applauded for having a flexible world view and being willing to change his opinion now and then.  (Unless this thread is just a big ol' troll.)

I hardly see it in PUGs either. To be fair, damage bonuses to defenses aren't shown in weapon stats for whatever reason.

It went from 'unusable' to 'an abomination'. Even Romney/Obama would proud of that flip/flop...

Sorry feelin lazy, considering how these threads usually end up..... I just decided to skip to the end I guess.

True. but not everybody hits their target, Acolyte has the ultimate solution to that with bouncing and AOE.

Acolyte was fine before they changed the firing mechanic. I rarely saw it used in PUGs due to people not knowing how to deal with the charge mechanic effectively.

Now it's everywhere. **** you missile glitchers.

Totally understand... no worries Image IPB

I know it's an apple to oranges comparison... but it's kind of amazing how much they actually have in common when you put the pros/cons side by side. I think the Graal is actually a better weapon... and is versatile enough to go on any class, even Casters. 121% is fine with me...

Not at all. What I said in the earlier thread is still valid. It is good the charge mechanic is gone. But I never endorsed then or now using this weapon as the primary means of making builds viable or good. You have some strange logic if you think that old thread has anything to do with the topic. I never even mentioned the charge mechanic in this thread, others did.

You said the acolyte would be 'fairly useful' without the charge mechanic before. Now you're proclaiming it to be the cornerstone of the majority of loadouts in much the same way people bash the harrier.

What changed? The charge mechanic is gone. Hmmm....

Doesn't make it any less funny seeing as you authored both of these threads.
