So basically, I am saying that the breather is James Vega, as he is the only one I have ever seen wearing such a badge.

God damn it. I laughed so hard there's spit on my monitor.
It's James Vega. James Vega with boobs, in some cases. Brilliant.

I was being sarcastic, I'm glad my joke made you laugh though, even if it was for the wrong reasons.

Don't worry Obrusnine, I get your joke and I laughed my ass off at it.

Back on topic: Your Shepard died OP? I'm sorry to hear that. But mines is fine she's alive is what Bioware told me... and Bioware created the game soooooo my Shepard is alive. Maybe next time pick Destroy?

I twisted nothing, it's called being rational. Leading to rational conclusions instead of ones that are optimistic.

Seriously answer me OP, how do you explain the game files that say Shepard is alive?

Makes sense. I'd say that Shepard was very much alive during that breath scene where he took his last breath. And then died. In horrible pain, laying in his own feces, just praying for someone to end the agony. When finally the sweet embrace of death takes all the pain away and he draws his last breath (and ****** himself).
Thats my headcanon. I know, I know... I'm a sucker for happy endings.

How often does someone die in a movie, video game, TV seriest etc.... by breathing in?  Shepard is breathing in.  Death is portrayed by breathing out then flat-lining.  Shepard breathes in, and then that is it.

Well of course. They couldn't show Shepard breathing out. That would have been to obvious. That is why the scene cut to black so fast.

Then why show the scene at all?

Seriously, OP, the ending is bullexcrement. We all know it.

The breath scene is the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics applied to Schroedinger's Cat, where the cat is both alive and dead at the same time. No one knows for certain until one opens the box. Then if one applies the "Many Worlds Theory" to it, then Shepard is alive in some, and Shepard is dead in others, and Shepard is both alive and dead at the same time in some, but again we don't know until we open the box.

BioWare writers said that Shepard is on the Citadel. They said so at SDCC.

But in my game, Shepard walked up and put David Anderson's name on the Memorial Wall and walked over and hugged Liara. :P So I don't know what universe you're in.

I can't believe this.

Here is an OP who twists the meaning of what's shown to us in order to make the ending appear worse than it is? What's happened to people? Don't they prefer a better to a worse ending? Or are they just spiteful and determined to ensure that if they can't have a super-happy one, nobody else will even have a reasonably good one?

This. Thank you.

again, for those who care, if you are femshep, the breath scene character has boobs. if you choose dudeshep there are no boobs. does this prove that it's shepard? no. does it strongly suggest that it's shepard? yes.

OP's logic: this doesn't prove that it's shepard, so that PROVES that it isn't shepard. derp.

I never said that's what proves it isn't Shepard. Derp.

so it does prove that it's shepard?

No.

so it proves that it's not shepard?

hahaha, good for you!

In my version, Shepard chooses control and then creates a copy of himself to take over as Catalyst before reviving himself 8 years later. I'm actually writing a fanfic about it.

I don't see how the two contradict each other. Just because people speculate doesn't mean there isn't only one rational answer to the question.

I knew I shouldn't have posted that as I hate pointing out logical fallacies. But, just for you, here goes:

The premise of your OP is faulty as it is based on assumptions and not facts. Now, you can construct a logical argument based on warranted assumptions but those assumptions must be disclosed as such up front and not presented as fact.

So, on to the fallacies:

Ad hominem

Argument from Personal Incredulity

Argument from Ignorance

Special Pleading

Great job, you just presented all of the problems with your guys's argument, not mine. My argument is based on facts that lead to logical assumptions. If I presented everything as if it was fact, I did not mean to. The final conclusion is almost definitely a fact, because there is absolutely no way it could be wrong, unless someone discloses a heretofore unknown piece of information that tips the scales. Otherwise, the logical assumptions can be treated as fact because nothing has been stated to contrary that is of any relevance.

The bolded is another logical fallacy but I can't remember the name nor do I care to look it up. Keep on trucking though. I know you're invested in your opinion. It's just sad that you can't see where your logic is failing.

Actually, I am of the exact same opinion as when we started. Shepard is still dead in the destroy ending IMO, you are all not wanting to accept rationality because it contradicts with what you want to be true (thus, optimism), and the Starchild is the most backwards AI ever. I still think all of these things.

To give people false hope. Biowares original intent was always to kill Separd in every ending, but didn't have the balls to go through with it. They was afraid they were going to have a sh!tstorm on their hands if they killed Shepard in every ending. Now, they got a sh!tstorm anyway. But thats another story...
So the added a scene that could easily be interpreted the wrong way, ie Shepard lives. So they could hide behind that scene and say. "Look it's up to you to decide if Shepard lived or not (lol)"

Holoshep is not Shepard and knows that. It refers to Shepard as "The man/woman I once was". And it refers to Shepard's death as  "his/her sacrifice". If it creates a copy of itself, it will just be a copy of that strange AI that talks strange things of Immortality and Eternity and stuff.

Nothing ambigious about Shepard in Control. Shepard disintegrated and is even more dead than at the beginning of ME2.

Oh, and since you appearantly believe the reaper kid, it outright says "you will die" when talking about control.

Oh, I agree, but BW kept trolling us with "well it could have been his last breath" thus making the "Yes! Shepard lived!" into a "well maybe not." They seemed determined to suck every last bit of hope out the end.Image IPB

Thus this type of thread keeps popping up. Thus the user mod with a definitive end. Thus the demands for a definitive end. If the writers and staff only didn't troll the fan base with that perhaps the demands for a definitive ending wouldn't still be going on?

This gotta be one of the biggest illogical cluster****s I have read since... well, that last Seival thread. You know the one.
OP says Bioware wanted to cause speculation, but that there is only one valid interpretation, even though Bioware went out of their way to allow multiple interpretations. And then he goes on to tell us about his own crazy, unlikely ending headcanon.
This just too much for me. I'm  outta here.
