In terms of narrative, consistency, and closure:
Original: 0/10
EC: 3/10 (4 if I'm feeling nice)

In terms of not completely trashing the entire franchise:
Both: -1/10

The ME trilogy was the equivalent of taking a luxury cruise to Hawaii with impeccable service, great entertainment and almost nothing but pure joy broken up by mishaps such as a waiter giving me a watered down Caesar's Salad (ME2's dumbing down of RPG mechanics), the mariachi-band not being mexican (Retcons) and the captain forcing us to do the limbo (Railroading) even though we'd rather dance hula.

After a great cruise, we arrive at the exact second Super MAC obliterates the island chain from orbit, leaving nothing but a gaping hole (Missing Logic) in the ocean floor (The Catalyst's reasoning). Also, my kids, my wife and my best friends died (Original Ending Shepard and Co. dying or getting stranded on Gilligan's Planet) in the blast and the cruise ship we came in on was irreparably damaged (Original Ending Relays). Except my friends actually lived (EC Normandy isn't stranded), it only looked like they were dead and the boat ends up being salvageable (EC Relays) after a couple of months (Years/Decades). But the island is still a gaping hole in the ocean floor (Catalyst's Logic still Effed up) and my wife and kids are still dead (Shepard, Destroy notwithstanding).

To give this vacation anything more than a 1/10 is completely absurd. Yes, the journey is overall more important than the destination, but it is the destination that validates the journey. If not, why the hell were you even travelling in the first place? If you undertake a trip, you want to get somewhere worthwhile. Having Hawaii blown up in your face by the same guy who sold you the cruise is incredibly, unfathomably insulting.

Why there is not 0/10? It would be right answer!

There should be a 0/10, possibly including negative numbers as the ending to that single game managed to retroactively destroy the previous two games.

I rate it roughly a -10/10 for the original ending, -9/10 for the EC (shiny pictures!), and as high as 5/10 if IT/Refuse is used. However, since the game is then missing the ending (well, what happened THEN?), it is still well below average.

With the EC, it's an acceptable 6/10 or 7/10.

I love you Seival.

edit: I put 5 out of 10, first this was because I thought it was about the whole game in general. When I realised it wasn't and I couldn't change it. I thought of keeping it the same anyway. And this is why.

it's neutral because The "real" ending is yet to be determined. You can only judge Mass Effect 3 as a whole (ending inclusive) once the dlc schedule is finished.

Therefore, if nothing is done, it drops to 0 or 1 if I'm feeling generous (yes, I feel it's actually that bad, no hyperbole here). But if there is something "bigger" in the works. eg; IT, PT etc...

Then It would be bumped up to 9, or even 10.. Depending on how enraged it makes Synthesis supporters if it's Indoctrination.

So 5 it is.

my thoughts exactly ...  but i voted 1/10 because i am a bitter, german realist.

2/10 (with EC)

1/10 (original)

the ending is broken, wrong and absolutely repulsive.

it does not honour the key themes of the series

it does not give weight to any of the previous decisions made by the player thorught the series

it does not provide closure for shepard or the other characters we grew to love.

it severley limits the future of the series.

do we need me to make a megathread on why the ending is bad?

Umm The poll asks for your opinion on the ending speciffically not ME3 or the trillogy as a whole.

I'd say waffles are better than IT. Especially with a side of bacon and some OJ.

Depends on the side of bacon. It's that wonderful taste sensation I know is 100% real, accept no substitute.

Any ending that renders an entire trilogy unplayable and invalidates every choice you ever made in said trilogy doesn't even deserve a number. But I'll give it a 1/10. For the minuscule effort they put in I guess.
