Something like Mass Effect's would be fun - you and some mates hold out against an enemy onslaught with the occasional side mission and boss.
Alternatively, you could do something like in Star Wars the Old Republic with Flashpoints. Basically missions in the style of those from the main game but capable of being played by four people.

Multiplayer "romance" scenes.  All the fans of a character can enjoy that character together.

I loved Mass Effect's multiplayer, but honestly, a game like Dragon Age in which pause-and-play mechanics are so important, I'm not sure it would work without compromising the tactical form of the singleplayer. It could be good, if it's mechanics were partially separate from the singleplayer, so I'm open it, but I'd most like to see it not killing the core of the gameplay.

What would I like to see in multiplayer? I would like to see it removed :3

But since they're gonna add it anyway (and it's probably going to be terrible (dislike MP in general here)) maybe adding in something that's not just players vs waves. Maybe a pony too. A pink one, with a party cannon.

Top five things to see in multi-player:

1, Not included.
2. If number 1 is not possible, then the option not to use it. None of this resource points crap.
3. If number 1 or 2 is not possible, then make like a dungeon/raid teams against a DA boss. No PvP.
4. If three is the case, put five or ten as the maximum number of players but dungeon/raid can be solo-able if high enough level or good enough skills.
5. Please seriously take a look at 1.

The op asked what we want to see in MP, not if you WANT MP or not. C'mon people.

The one thing I'm curious to know is how will they translate abilities over to MP. It worked well for ME3 because you didn't have access to many abilities in MP. Basically you only have about four abilities mapped? How is that going to work for a Mage in DA3? It simply wouldn't be a Mage without having access to all their abilities. If it's anything like DAO/DA2, that's a lot of abilities...

Pausing isn't going to work in MP. I just don't see how that would happen. Partly why they didn't do it in ME3's MP. This is where I'm conflicted with DA3's MP. I have no idea how they can get around this issue.

DA has a lot more depth when it comes to skill trees and abilities than Mass Effect...

As for what I want personally? To play as any race(like ME3) and do something like story co-op. Not the survival co-op like ME3. I want something a little different. Something with a little more variety. ME3's MP is partially fun because it's easy to get into. It has a lot of simplicity to it. But that's also a negative for me because it means the MP lacks variety. Story co-op with special quests just for MP would be great. Then Bioware could drop content updates every few months similar to what they're doing now with ME3...

I could imagine the possibilites. One quest might involve me taking down a High Dragon or another quest might have me destroying Tevinter Imperium slavers. That would mix the quests up and change the objective so everything isn't survive ten waves. Sorta like SP but with buddies...:D

You take the rewards and unlock packs similar to ME3. Only, you get armor customization in DA3 to go with weapon customization. That would be great...

What I think is that while having the multiplayer affect single player sounds like something that would make it more interesting, it should NOT punish those who don't play multiplayer. I prefer to play on my own, offline, doing my own thing. I still play multiplayer sometimes, but I prefer working with other player's in co-op based modes as opposed to player versus player, which I generally find frustrating most days.

What troubles me about this idea is that Dragon Age doesn't seem to have the same variety of characters as Mass Effect or the same variety of class either. In DA, you have humans, elves, dwarves, qunari/tal'vasoth. In ME, you have humans, asari, turians, krogan, salarians, quaraians, geth, vorcha, batarians, drell, and even volus. In DA, you have warrior, mage, rogue. In ME, you have Adept, Soldier, Engineer, Sentinel, Infiltrator and Vanguard. That variety in species and classes is why I find Mass Effect more interesting than Dragon Age, that and spaceships.

to have nothing to do with single player story so that people play it by choice

instead of being there to get more ems type stuff that gets a better ending in single player no thank you I want it to be it's own thing then I don't have to play it

That its completely separate from the single player campaign. I don`t want my character to magically get a weapon or something, just because i have played multiplayer.

Ideally, non-existant. Dragon Age needs to stay single player lest that series get turned into an MMO like everything else. Mass Effect I could see, being a shooter and all, as having that OPTION, but Dragon Age no thanks. We don't need our results from Origins and DA2 becoming war assets required to achieve an optimal ending...

What I'd like to see in Dragon Age Multiplayer?

What I'd like to see most is that it is a separate, standalone game that has nothing to do with the Dragon Age storyline.

I hope to see absolutely nothing related to multiplayer.

Since that's not a likely development however, I hope that it's at least completely separate from the single player campaign.

When creating your character, there should be an 'Auto-death' button that you can opt to click on. If you click on it, and enter the game world, your character automatically dies and you unlock every in-game multiplayer-specific DLC for the single player game. And you can access all of them (or all the item based ones) after a certain point in the game, like after the prologue.

Either that, or multiplayer should be entirely optional, and not necessary to play or access anything in the single player game.

Wow, you guys kinda really really suck at making suggestions.

I would like to see customization of my multiplayer character, picking what gender, race, abilites, and so on that they have. Outside of that, anything would probably be good.

-Differently themed MP modes that have parallels to the single player campaign, such as being able to fight in the fade, the deep roads, Tevinter, etc.

-No effect on the single player except that there is some sort of system that allows you to transfer gold/items/etc to your single player character with things earned in the multiplayer as a nice perk.

-As you advance you get to unlock new races/classes/gear to keep things fresh.

-Have different playable factions spanning the spectrum of Dragon Age's lore. Since we will be limited to a human protagonist in the single player, the idea of getting to join a Teventir or Qunari faction would be a lot of fun. There are a lot of DA fans that feel very passionate about supporting this or that side/cause (I'm looking at you templar vs mages folks). This is quite evident with the massive threads dedicated solely to people arguing the case for whom they support. Now please tell me this wouldn't be great for them too. I'm not sure how well a pvp system of different factions going at it could be implemented due to balancing issues (as opposed to balancing a purely co-op multiplayer experience), but I at least view this as something that should be considered.

edit: In honor of BLOPS 2 just releasing, I'd also like a darkspawn nug horde mode. ;)

I'd like to see actual PvP - be it arena or objective based. I wouldn't mind there not being any MP at all either, though. I'm just pretty sure I wouldn't get into it much if it'd just be cooperative (see ME3).

I'd like co-op similar to what we had in Baldur's Gate where you can have your friends can take control of party members and go through the story with you.
