It is easy to find good voice actors. Maybe even new talents...morely! Talents! This is what Bethesda should have done ages ago. Hold an audition or even contest on Youtube or similar, where the fans get to voice act a preset script or make something of their own. I am pretty sure it is possible to find good, cheap voice acting talents just dying to be part of a good game production.

*LOL*

If it was easy to find good voice actors then why is it that the majority of the voice acting in videogames has sucked?  Where does this belief come from that voice acting is EASY?

re: Animation
This isn't as simple as people believe either....sure, it is relatively easy to have different model animations, but the problem comes from how said model interacts with the rest of the world....In ME2, there were a couple of scenes where the character model was slightly off as femshep is slightly smaller than male shep.

This is much more noticeable with Dragon age when the character model for the warden a dwarf

I honestly don't think many in the fanbase realize just how difficult/expensive these things are or are basing everything on "oh, a mod did it, so it must be easy"

I honestly have more voices over the Behtesda version, the King and the begger outside the kings castle, having the same voice, like its brothers or twins.

And as I said, thats why you have a contest. If only 10 out of 10000 is worth a while? Then thats something. Why are you so anti this? I say someone should go for this idea! Just to see how it goes.

Bioware is backed by EA, If EA really cares so much for Bioware as they seemingly should, they will have no problems with money nor time.

Sadly, Mass Effect 3 was proof of that EA wanted this game rushed, Dragon Age 2 another example and The Old Republic is a coin sink for EA. So well, next game need to be a big big big success, Else I think Bioware will soon end up like the other companies that EA bought. In the bin.

No, just no. It would take away the hole this is for humanity if we played as another species.

What's the point? They'd be little more than funny looking humans (just like the alien squadmates who only look alien, more or less, but act very human).

Any *alien* has to be somewhat humanized otherwise you can't have an interaction other than "kill the alien/ignore the alien".......the former of course is popular in bug movies such as Aliens and Starship Troopers and the latter don't make sense to even to detail since you can't interact with them....

re: EA

Of course EA cares about ME. It's a money making franchise for them but here's the thing...it has to make money which means it HAS to contain costs......simply put, would the addition of 2-3 high quality voice actors be justified by the potential increase in sales (and note I said potential....I'm somewhat doubtful that having a femshep is worth the cost myself)

There is somewhat humanized and then there is funny looking humans. Hanar and elcor were quite alien without being hostile ... but this was mostly played for the laughs. Wrex and Javik were most alien out of the bunch (still not alien enough). Samara and her code contrasted nicely. Liara, Tali, Garrus and Thane were pretty bland in the alien department.

Ten different voice actor would almost certainly cause much, much, much lower quality voicework.

Just have Jennifer Hale do the voices. All of them -.-

Jennifer Hale isn't a good enough voice actor to do ten different character voices in one game without you realising "Oh, this is Jennifer Hale, too."

I think I spotted Jennifer Hales voice in The Avengers cartoon as Ms Marvel.

Personally, I thought the Geth were among the most alien of the lot.

Back in ME1 I was amazed at how they brought the Krogan to attention with Wrex's face practically filling the screen staring down a C-Sec officer. Now they just blend in as an accepted part of the galaxy.

Exactly.

Not everyones a big fan of humanity, and there are other species than humanity in the Mass Effect verse. Let someone be like "This is for the Vorcha!" if they want to.

How could I forget the geth? Probably because the geth were not humanoid to begin with as a bunch of AIs sharing a platform. For a while really impressive. Too bad they kind of ruined that in ME3.

Edit: Ha, I knew I forgot some alien species. Volus (for the lulz) and vorcha (also more comic relief than anything else). So, still only the geth as a truly alien (also non-organic) species.

Hell, I'm not sure there's a voice actor that can do 5 or more distinct voices...Scott Mcneil maybe? Frank Walker, Grey Delisle, mark Hamill are legendary (and command appropriate prices) but I don't think they have more than 3or 4 distinct voices....

That won't happen. I'd like it, but like you see in MP, all races play differently. It would also be hard to do story-wise, with such a linear and specific plot.

Not to mention the fact that BW has always talked about how human and human-type (this was in the context of TOR but it still makes sense) species work best as the protagonist because you can relate to them more. You can understand the facial expressions and they don't look ridiculous speaking in the voice used for said characters.

I don't see it happening. I say stick to playing other races in MP.

People don't relate to Elves or Dwarves but people like to play them. People don't relate to Argonians, Khajiit, Altmer, Dunmer, or Orsimer, but people like to play as them.

People don't relate to Worgen, Charr, or Sylvari, but people like to play as them.

Its a video game. You're supposed to be able to be someone/do somethings that you can't in real life.

Side note. My BSN account is stuck in French, no idea how.... How do I get it back to English?

I get what you're saying but consider something here. Elves are humans with pointy ears. Dwarves are short humans with beards. Altmer, Dunmer, and Bosmer are different colored humans with pointy ears. Sylvari are very similar to humans too. they just look like leaf people.

Not only is ME one of the most story-centric games ever, but there's also the fact that in TES and guild wars, they have different voices recorded for the RACES. Can you see them taking the time/money to record different voices for each species ME4?

You said that people needed something to relate to?

And what about Argonians, Khajiit, Orismer, Orcs etc? These races have lots of fans.

Argonians especially. Why? Because they're cool, and different. There are a lot of people who are bored with/have no interest whatsoever in playing as a human or anything obviously similar to a human.

They could just do it with a few it can't be that hard. When I mean any species I'm meaning like from Human to Asari, Turian or the Geth like that. I personally don't want to play another Human.

As much as I like to play as a geth, I think it's unlikely that we get them as a playable race. They can be extinct in one of the endings (though, it can be argued that they can be rebuilt), and their usage of words and perspectives are completely different to the other species'.

There is a bright side, however, and it's the lack of gender in the geth--They'd have to record the dialogues once.

If Bioware makes the geth playable, I'll be eternally grateful to them.

Bringing Skyrim in the discussion is pointless. It's just a whole different kind of RPG, there is almost no character development at all and story does not matter. It's pretty easy to make a dozen playable races in a sandbox fantasy RPG without any focus on the storyline, and it can be fun, but if you want that kind of fun you may as well stay away from BioWare games.

Lol what? Last time I checked Bioware had a history of adding multiple races.

NWN, Balders Gate, Dragon Age.

And no I don't want a sandbox experience. I want to experience a Mass Effect story from the perspective of someone who isn't human.

And I don't want them wasting resources on an aesthetic difference....one I won't even think twice about using <_<
